I’m not familiar with how this system works. Say, I’ve previously done 8 with no troubles, know the dungeon mechanics, and wanna keep doing 8. But if I make 20 attempts to join a group, maybe 1 will accept me. How does the group leader decide to accept or decline?
Group leaders take way better overgeared players than them and everyone else gets declined. This is how the M+ system works.
Group leaders are presented with all the people who Queue up. They then decide who they want to take. Almost everyone will pick the best people (from the available information, IO and ILVL) and also take into account if they have a sensible set of buffs.
For example most teams will want a Bloodlust or Heroism, some sort of Combat res, and relevant group buffs,
Before the “m+ is tOxeC, leader waNtS a boOst” brigade arrives(although Saiyan already arrived early). There are multiple reasons:
- What Sayan said.
- Group comp. If you are applying as a dps warrior for example and the group already has 2 mele dps then its unlikely the leader will take a 3rd one as well.
- Plain competition. If Johny A applied with ilevel 425 rio 500 and Jane B with ilevel 460 and rio 1500 then why should the leader take Johny A?
And note its not just one Jane B. WHen it comes to dps slots, there can be even like 15-20 applicants for 1 spot. - Metaslaves.
- Personal leader preferences. As the leader of a key, he can invite whomever bloody he wants. Had once in a pug group and the leader even admited that he had invited so many DHs who failed him that he simply started to avoid DHs like the plague in general.

Edit: In conclusion. To whatever reason. Be it “toxic” or not. Remember that as a keyholder, they got the privilege to invite whomever they want. They don’t owe you an invite and its not somekind of a human right to get invited to an m+. A shame that some forum dwellers here fail to understand that.
What’s that?
Raider. io website. Which follows your m+ progress. If anything the in-game M+ score is an actual raider io implantation since raider Io has been since m+ has been introduced pretty much(there is also wowprogress as different site).
Appreciate all the explanations. Guess I’ll just list my own key. Didn’t know that was possible, because previously I heard that you had to have your phone linked to the account to list a group. But I can see it’s only required for custom ad text, so all should be good. Thanks!
Blizz design for M+ is like 10 tanks 1 heal 500 dps for each key.
And the fanbois will tell gOlVlYoUroWnkEy but Blizz should fix that, we pay for it they need to find the solution.
No worries, Good luck!
Good luck lad! A few runs here and there and you will see how liberating it can be. Sure there can be bad runs as well, but we all experience them from time to time. You can also try joining any of the m+ communities we got and get people from there. Community folks are usually more honorable and friendly than your average pug(not that I didnt had some splending pugs as well).
Blizzard offers access to the servers and at least tries to keep it somewhat stable and playable(regarding how good they are at it is a different topic and lets not go there).
How you find your spot under the sun, is your own battle to fight. ToS does not say that its Blizzard’s duty to guarentee you an CE, M+ 20 done every week, glad 2400 and etc.
Sorry, but that’s just how the system works. You don’t really need to downplay what I said, because it’s my personal experience of how people do things. They wait very patiently for the absolute best players and relist constantly, even if only 5 people sign up. They don’t want the 1.5k rio player for +11. No, lots of group leaders wait for the 2-2.5k, who need the crests to upgrade hero gear, even if it takes 30 minutes… And yes, the system is toxic, and the leaders are just playing by the system of blizzard.
Strange. My personal experience says its different. And like I said. I am NOT denying that such people exist. But I am opposing your idea that 99.9% of the leaders act like it.
“If I met 1 toxic player in the game. That doesn’t make the whole game is toxic 100%”.
Tell me where I said 99.9%? However, I just see it very often, mostly when I join groups like that and wait with the leader, declining players, who are more than capable.
You are arguing as if its the main and only reason why people get declined.
Even healers get declined a lot. How do you explain this?
I dont.
I cant speak for others. Could be searching for a CR healer. Could be that there are 2 druids in group already and he doesnt want a 3rd druid. Every person has their own reasoning and you agreeing or disagreeing with it does not make it “toxec”.
Well, no, but it’s pretty obvious how the system encourages and incentivizes the behaviour I descibed I’d say, and I see it all the time. It’s a toxic system for pugs I’d say. Some people think it’s all about healer/dps/tank ratio, but that’s only one part of the story. I don’t know a perfect system, but I think the current one is not good at all, and many would be better, even if imperfect.
Its a competion nothing more. I ve been tanking some super casual +13-14s and my only expectation is for the applicant have 430 ish ilevel. So I get 2 warriors signed up ALMOST instantly…maybe a 0.5ms sec in difference. One is 435 other is 465(while I am not sure why he wants a 13 instead of a 17 but oh well). Now…I will probs take only 1 warrior and I have to chose one?
But why should a 1-1.5k rio casual gamer dad compete with a 2.5k rio gear farmer for the same spot in +11 or +16M+ pugs? I would make a system, where you can just put a key in the fountain and the system searches players automatically to fill all leftover spots.
And why shouldnt he? You claim the system is toxic and gatekeeping but at the same time you want to do some gatekeeping yourself?
Since you edited:
No thanks. I dont want 3 shadow priests or 3 mele in a sanquine week.
