Why do pugs not want to give me PI?

Today, I went for a Heroic Sire to help a friend out with the conduit. The group took a little while progressing, but eventually got the fight. However, what I found peculiar was that neither of the two priests (holy+shadow) gave me Power Infusion despite me consistently being on the top of the meters. Why would you do that to your group, especially when in a fight where good p2+p3 dps will make matters much easier?

Unless it was a group you usually raid with, I think PI went to their guildies.

PI can be used as:

  1. Make the top dps do even more dps
  2. Close the gap in the meters and give it to another class that benefits from haste
  3. Give it to a friend because social aaawwww

It was all pug and both priests PId themselves. Both the holy and shadow who did a solid 3.2k dps.

If I was SP - there is no way I am giving PI to someone else, forget it.
As for holy - maybe he gave it to his friend.

Also there are better classes to give PI to than a mage (for ex UDK).

Was true before the patch. Frost mage is better in aoe than UDK now.

Hes not talking about who deals more AoE but about the benefit you get from haste compared to the benefit the DK gets. Whoever benefits more i dont know and dont care but that was his point

Expecting pugs to be so selfless that they give away a major cd to some stranger?

Sire (P3 esp) is all about single target, AOE has nothing to do with it.

The concept of having throughput cooldowns that are best used on other players is an aged concept that doesn’t belong in modern WoW.

PUGs are places that generally insta kick the lowest DPS when something goes wrong (even if it’s a mechanic fail and not a DPS fail), there’s absolutely no way I would expect a PI from a Priest in that environment, or give one out if I still played Priest.

What if the priest is a healer, though? Or if they parse grey even with the self-PI?

If they’re grey parsing it means they don’t even know how to play their own class … yet you somehow expect them to analyse who the optimum DPS to use PI on would be? Come off it.

WoW is 16 years old, I really can’t believe some people still join a PUG and complain they don’t play the game their way

I did ask for the PI in chat, though. I do not expect everyone to be above average in terms of skill, but I’d expect them to read the raid chat.

Did you ask them? nvm you answered.

The OP is fire btw, PI is also great on them for Combust window. Depending on the other players the holy priest could/should have given it him, alternatives are good UH DK or good MM hunter. A bad player of any class could potentially waste it. Shadow also loses a lot for others gain but sounds like the shadow wasnt that amazing.

Running in a pug though you cant expect players to care more about the performance of the group as a whole over themselves sadly.

Its their skill, they can do with it what they want. If you don’t like people playing the game how they choose to play it, find a different group or form your own and vet your players.

PI is a really powerful healing cooldown too. It’s not just for DPS.

It’s not too hard to decide who should get the PI when the dps looks like this throughout multiple pulls, I think!

It isnt normally needed as a healing CD. It is better used on a DPS.

Agreed, if it had been me I would have given it to you.

But some players do prefer themselves over others.

I’ll stay tuned for cross-faction play, then!

OP was PUGing, who knows what’s “needed” when player ability is sporadic and unreliable.
