Why do streamers call themselves content creators?

they dont actually create content. blizzard creates content, they play video games and react to content created by someone else.

i dont know, it always makes me cringe when they call themselves that instead of simply streamer.

Same way a business owner calls himself a job creator when it’s the employees doing all the work.

Its content for people who like the personality of the streamer, + they could arguably call themselves content creators if its content people can’t reach themselves.

Guys like Preach actually do create content. They put in time and effort into editing the videos and posting them for people.

It’s Asmongold that is cancer. All he does is watching someone else’s content and saying YEAH, TOTALLY, YEAH, YEAH. Why is he still there I don’t get. Normally you’re not allowed to plagiarize stuff. But hey, Asmonbald calls this “REACTION” videos.

I’ve never heard that from streamers I happened to watch. Maybe they are confused about the difference between giving feedback to which Blizzard react and actually “create the content”. Someone who realises that and still insists on the “content creator” is no more than an ignorant.

Some seem to call babbling “content”, like casters call it “commentating” and lead developers call it “exchange with the community”. An honored part of human life, annoying noise to others.

They create their content using other people’s content. Still this terms is general term world agreed upon when refering to online entertainers for some reason.

Being a streamer in a way is a content creator, they’re creating content, be them noises, guppy jokes or even just cringe, however, people still watch them, they’re watching content that is enjoying other peoples content, y’know?

I love this

Probably because his audience wants him to watch those videos. One could argue preach also only reads his audience’s stories (I like drama time, don’t get me wrong).

Blizzard did not create the Transmogg competition or the mount off.

That is content he himself created for his stream, Thus content creator

If the streamers tells a joke, sings, chat with viewers, scream, rant about class balance, or whatever this is also content that people tune to watch.

Even if they don’t speak, people can be interested seeing their tactics, their UI, wipes, PVP wins/losses, etc. This is as much content as watching football players play a match (even though they didn’t build the stadium or manufacture the ball)

Just for the context, belle Delphine sold her waterbath. She created it, right??

I’m commenting on this thread. I’m creating content.

Just because you don’t like their content doesn’t mean they don’t make content.
All a voice actor does is read a script.
All a commentator does is describe what we’re all seeing.

Several streamers have given me good laughs over the years. Making people laugh is a good thing, why discourage and belittle people for this?

Petty thread laced with jealousy.

You’re welcome to become a content creator / steamer OP, but the reality is nobody wants to listen to or watch you. No, you could not do what they do, which is exactly what people like you tell yourselves.

ehmmm… employees arent creating the job, the employer does, the employees do the job, so the business owner is correct in labelling himself a job creator, sorry, I get that employees wanna feel important but you’re not creating jobs, you’re creating wealth for your job creator.

If we poo, we are also content creators.

why is it called content creater and not Gamer that streams?

Which do you think will sound better and a CV once the game dies and you need to apply to a job? :expressionless:

Not directly the don’t, but I know Blizzard listen to the streamers, that was clear when Asmon was commenting about the Preach video about gear in SL & Mythic Plus, Asmon suggested badges rewards and what happened? Valor badges appear.
Asmon for me is a clown but entertaining, Preach is more sensible, more down to earth and very professional, the stand out one is MadSeasonShow, he has a ton of experience especially with WOW Classic, his BFA review was great, I suggest you watch it.
