it’s crazy that it’s been 4 months. Time has seriously flew. I’ve had almost 40 days played time and I havent been burned.
Thats with only levelling, MC+Ony and PvP.
I’ve done this on private servers(in a less commited way) and im still thoroughly enjoying the game. Alot of other great games have gone unfinished this year but at least I’ve gotten this.
I’ve not even touched on how this game is a pure MMO and the friends ive made already feel fairly deep for the amount of time i’ve known them. As we continue to play together, im sure it will become even more legit.
if you ask yourself “why do you do this?” regarding 90% Of the things you do in life? you’d find that almost every single thing of them are worthless and useless to some degree, so much time wasted without having something to do which benefit you.
However people are doing either what they think they like to do? or what they are forced to do! and people will keep on doing certain thing till they find a replacement!
Basically online gamers are playing to "1-earn money out of the game Or to 2-find friendships inside the game Or 3-waste free time cus inside games times Flies, or maybe to 4-run away from reality.
Felt like to see how world PvP was like back in the day. Not quite what I expected but then again servers were flooded more than they should .
Also felt like trying the old raids.
Some nostalgia .
To get away from random loot aka titan forge and other annoying loot mechanics
Community .
Probably more but it’s what I can think of now
I like quests, lots and lots of quests. Long, grindy quests don’t put me off at all, neither does travelling - it just makes the world seem larger.
The post-Cataclysm version of WoW streamlined everything, and made progression fast, effortless and instant, removing the need to think and plan.
I like the old world, the way it was designed with it’s focus on exploration and travel. Cataclysm ruined most of the old zones, filling them with stupid chasms and volcanoes everywhere - worst still most zones are now filled with endlessly battling mobs, trashing the tranquility and immersion of these regions.
I like the old RPG mechanics, skill trees, training points, ranks, reagents, ammo, poisons, class quests, soul shards etc. It adds depth and complexity to the game. Subsequent expansions began a slow process of dumbing down these mechanics in favour of instant gratification. Cataclysm completely removed almost all of them; trashing all RPG elements and turning the game into little more than a sterile online looter-shooter with simple arcade combat mechanics.
I like the idea of using methods and tactics in dungeons, rather than just racing through at breakneck speed and AOEing everything in your path. I like the need to travel to dungeons, because it makes the experience seem more meaningful. I also like the social aspect, which is more fun than racing through with a bunch of silent strangers, who’s only communication is “GOGOGOGO” and “FAST RUN PLZZ SKIP ALL!!!11”
Finally I like being in a real guild with friendly people who have fun together… not some post-Cata super Guild full of strangers who are just there for the guild perks.
Nostalgia mainly, talent trees and the old world. I played vanilla when I was a child and have fond memories of it. I played retail up until classic came out and haven’t been back to retail since. Classics a breath of fresh air (most of the time) and the slower pace suits me well!
As for which class to play, it’s easiest to just try a few if your not in a rush for 60, I started with this hunter as my first char in vanilla was a hunter but since then I’ve played rogue/druid/mage, all of which I’ve really enjoyed for different reasons but it’s hard to just recommend one without knowing what you like.
And these things! I logged into my original hunter from vanilla which is now a 72 lvl, he still had ammo Bag and full of bullets which tbh if forgotten about before classic as I hadnt played a hunter since that level and didn’t even think about ammo/ammo bags!
Time sink when I get stoned, I’m leveling my 2nd and probably last character(classic druid didnt do it for me so going rogue now).
I kinda just like how things take time to do so after my day of work, kids, hanging out with the gf for awhile I can get baked and jump back into whatever I was trying to do at the time. I dont really have any raid or pvp aspirations, I just decide I wanna do something and go for it until it’s done(professions, lock picking, farming, dungeons, bgs etc etc) until I get bored and log off. I’ll jump into raiding when I get on the rogue to 60.
I had intended to raid as resto druid but the classic version of druid didn’t do it for me(no offence to all my druid buds out there!)
That’s really about it, no magic reason other than I like the slower, clunkier, more old school RPG feeling of the game. Hope this helped!
I created my first WoW account yesterday at six O clock. Before that the only video game I’d ever played was Big Rigs Over The Road Racing on Super SNES.
If I’d had known that BFA five-mans were typically cleared slowly, using tactics, CC etc. and that you had to walk to the entrance rather than just teleporting, I’d have given this ‘retail’ thing a chance years ago. Of well, silly me.
It seems you are talking about BfA which you probably never tried. If you did you would know that anything above heroic dungeons needs 100 times more knowledge and skill than anything in Classic
But prove me wrong, show me your BfA character so I know you know what you are talking about.
It is ok to be noob but don’t pretend you have some knowledge of the game you are playing Classic thinking its peak of difficulty. You would get a reality check very soon in BfA.
Oh Kork . Want to have is irrealis. It does not mean that I am going to open a lot of accounts - or even one extra. It means I wish I could do it. Even if I’m not poor by most standards, I’m most certainly not rich enough to actually have more than my one account.
I am most sorry I can’t always say everything first, as that would indeed be the good thing to do.
I like the world better, the lore is better and it’s darker and more serious (if someone dies, it seems like they actually die… and no weird space ships and modern tech mixed with swords and arrows).
PvP is much better, faster and more skill based.
Non-cosmetic rewards from doing challenging or time consuming things. I don’t find cosmetic rewards motivating at all and just get bored as “there is nothing to do” in retail.
No catch up mechanics so getting new armor/weapons actually feels good and rewarding.
