most of the super successful games are endless grind. League, dota, overwatch, csgo - you always have something to do. The problem with wow is time gated content and lack of activities to do in open world IMO. PvP balance and class game play is a whole another topic.
Yes, I am too optimistic with my facts.
Let me quote you:
Youâre going to make a negative prediction on a future patch and act like youâre not being a pessimist? And that I am overly optimistic?
Come on dude.
yea because the game already has issue like pvp vendors, dont know if you checkedthem but if vendors are released as they are now the gearing system will be exactly like bfa and add that to all the systems that forces me to try everything before understanding how to play my class the correct way and there you become pessimist like me
also the thread wasnt about shadowlands i just wanted to know why blizzard is focused on time gating more than actual gameplay
Also wow token really killed a major chunk of the game for me. During WoD I was still at uni and I didnt have job so token was kind of nice cause I knew I will be always able to pay for the subscription but now I wonder why bother farming something for X hours if I can just buy few tokens and save a lot of time:P
I am sorry but I thought we were talking about âfocusing on an endless grindâ?
Now you have derailed into PVP vendors as if one bad aspect means all aspects are also bad.
Of course it is about Shadowlands when youâre talking about Blizzards focus. Their focus is Shadowlands.
yea because pvp vendors not having gear means we will have to PVE to get gear and we all know how pve is a rng fiesta that forces u to play until u get ur specific items and it can take months of trying
You preach about classic and then complain about having to do PVE to get gear.
What?
Gearing up is not a endless grind. When people complain about grinds they are not referring to gearing up via raiding.
never said classic was the best xpac but i still can get 90% of my gear through pvp cause there are vendors
then we dont have the same definition
i tried getting my bis items from raiding in bfa and after 1 month nothing droped and i need these items to pvp and thats why i left the game again
maybe you dont call that a grind but i dont want to potentially waste 1 more month before being able to pvp
What? Classic WoW has no PVP vendors outside of the rank requirement ones which if youâre going to claim is not an awful grind youâre out of your mind.
A grind which youâd never do without at least being fully geared from MC/BWL.
Half of that gear isnât even good.
I think the bigger issue for PVP is corruption, essences and azerite traits.
All of which have been removed in Shadowlands.
All of which are the horrible endless grinds in BFA.
Yet you claim SL wonât be an improvement?
thing is i dont care grinding if im doing the content i enjoy aka pvp
even in cataclysm you needed months to get full conquest gear and nobody complained about it 1st of all because game was fun and 2nd because we could play the content we liked
also ive seen plenty of ppl get r14 with r10 gear so i dont think its hard
now in bfa, who enjoys doing world quests or islands nonstop to farm AP? who enjoys visions? who enjoys assaults? nobody
to me biggest issue in pvp began in 8.2 with broken pve trinkets that played the game for you and boring class design and on top of that non existent class balancing during 2+ years, no pvp stats, damage being extremely low compared to heals which led to average game ending at 75% dampening no matter what you did
then 8.3 came and ruined pvp even more
but removing corruption wont fix the other issues
cant speak about damage being low in shadowlands cause nobody knows how its gonna turn out but class design is definitely boring
Problem is not grind but rng, some grind isnt bad but if u grind same thing on different alts and get totally diferent resultâŚ
Iâm sorryâŚ
ye this is what I miss from the game.
Hit Exalted and purchase anything you like from their vendor.
No need to bother with any emissary caches that have 3 percent chance to drop whatever you actually want.
At least in BFA itâs purely bonus gold, no mounts afaik.
AP grinds can really go rest in peace. 2 expansions of them is enough.
But you canât even get all your gear from PVP in Classic Regi. Itâs irrelevant if you enjoy it, it is literally not feasible.
Even if you hit rank 13 (which you wonât without months of constant playing) you still wonât have all your gear slots.
Youâre changing your stance from âgrinds are badâ to âoh well X and Y grind is fine because I personally approveâ.
Neither argument is an argument against the facts that Shadowlands does not have endless grinds.
Well then good news, another thing Blizzard has done is made it so people to use a trinket in PVP for the CC escape. So that cuts down two PVE trinkets to just one.
The vast majority of people are happier with their class in SL than they currently are. Lots of improvements.
But lets not pretend like classic the game you shill for has fun class design.
It absolutely will. Corruptions are incredibly strong and the main source of earning them is PVE content. Corruptions also bloat the difference between an ok geared 120 and a very well geared 120 to extreme proportions.
I would take SL class design over Legion, BFA and Classic.
Sorry for what?
Excuse me, but this rep from 2007 makes modern reputations look like a banged up Fiat Multipla next to a Ferrari F40.
-You could fly around and hunt rare spawn eggs
-You could simply grind mobs, they rarely dropped such eggs
-You could do daily quests for guaranteed rep each day (regardless of luck)
-On rep breakpoints you got additional non-repeatable content (yellow quests) that awarded a large bonus of reputation
This is just ONE reputation and it had 3 different ways of pursing the goal.
Legion and BFA have about 20 reputations combined and they all have 1 way of pursing the goal.
And the goal itself, give me a break. Netherwing was badass. A mofo dragon mount in a game where most playersrode a pleb looking gryphon or wyvren. This mount really stood out and it was one of the few, others being rather difficult to get (raiding, gladiator pvp). What does current rep vendors give you? A mount number 500 that youâll never use. A toy that youâll use once in your life. Thatâs it!
Sorry for feeling like Iâm about to puke.
You just do the same quests for day after day with 0 variety. Makes me wish I could send that ledge to the same place alternate Farahlon has gone to.
tbh i dont even care about getting rank 14 in classic i play this game for fun which is the purpose of a game
in bfa nothing is fun to me and if i want to have fun in pvp i will have to do pve for a month
also idk why youre talking about shadowlands when i didnt mention shadowlands in this thread, and when i talk about shadowlands on my other threads i never talked about grinding but class design because to me its still garbage nonsense where destro warlocks a cloth class can facetank melees with 2hands axes which isnt the case in classic, maybe u have fun playing warriors and hitting zero damage on mages/Disc/destro but not me thats why i have fun in classic and not in bfa
old design was 100x better because wotlk/Cata/mop were classic combat system with a lot more abilities
in bfa even if you add abilities the combat system will be garbage and SL has that combat system where armor type and weapons dont even matter
The quests increased as you gained rep, with new story arcs opening up as you progressed which is a damned sight more varied than today!
Only to be clear last serious statistics was over 5 mil players before covid.
Stats without Blizz will never get all players so it was more in reality and with covid around the world i guess we can be easily aroud 8 mil or more . . .
