Game would be atleast a fun endless grind if mythic raiding wasn’t the only way to get: tier sets, bis trinkets 90% of the time, crazy proc effects on gear which generally didn’t give any active effects and a 10 item level edge over mythic 15 chests/glad rating
Winterspring Frostsaber Mount
eye twitch
adds an eye to the pool yup, still twitching. And i did not even like them kitten-mounts
When WoW was at it’s peak, there was no endless grind. You had daily quests and reputation didn’t lock up core gameplay mechanics that blizzard added then decided to put it behind (playable races, most story content, flying mounts.) What grind there was you could largely set yourselves, who remembers the Argent Dawn rep, Netherwing and other “Kill mobs/loot mobs” methods? It meant you could set your own goal per day and do that.
Now you’re basically given a quota of how much rep you can grind to keep you from unsubbing.
Back in vanilla etc, the guys who made up the mechanics of the game played the game. Now they have a team of psychologists draw up a study which ends up with ‘this method causes most $$$ for Activision Blizzard’ and a bunch of guys burnt out with the game to make it.
Yup, devs don’t even play the game now. That’s how we ended up with the clown worthy systems we got in BFA, just the logical extreme of hands off developers delivering diktats to their players on how they “know best.”
Addicting hamster wheels and treadmills is what this game is currently about.
Casinos everywhere, time gates everywhere, endless chasing of a carrot on a stick. But the rod with said carrot is taped to your own head, you are chasing nothing and who knows where you’re headed.
I don’t believe im saying this but the last expansion with well designed gameplay loop was Draenor. It lacked content sure, but the game systems and classes worked well, never forced you to endlessly grind something.
WoD was the social experiment to see if we as the player base would accept the conditioning.
Unfortunately it worked I think.
good one bro
websites are showing 2.5m unique characters on retail which u can divide by 2 because everyone has an alt at least
nobody plays bfa and there is a reason they keep merging realm
Which websites?
How can you in any way prove that anything you wrote is even remotely true?
Because its a MMORPG game, grinding is the main element of the game. So you have to do PVE AND PVP.
Arcade games main element is PVP, games like Street fighter V, Mortal Kombat 11 or Dragonball fighter z is more inclined toward player vs player.
AAA rpg games like assasin creed or Zelda is focused mainly on PVE enviroment rather than PVP.
They are just farming ppl , training their consumers .
Business model from activision , just check their patents .
Of course all the players moaning about having nothing to do and cancelling their subs at the time had nothing to do with Blizz trying to add more goals for players to reach.
When wow was at peak game wasnt so easy and acessible so there was no need for gating.
Back in vannila devs didnt cave everytime casual players cried for something. You wanted best gear? Too bad raid or go away. Nowdays they making you optout from event becouse players doesnt like being killed by zombies.
me too. for example Wotlk. when i was finished raiding we done stuff on our alts or we waited for 1kwinter.
i dont play pvp anymore, because i’m too busy grind currencies and when i’m “done” i’m exhausted and log out.
but thats the current state for a lot of games. Daily here, weekly here, grind this, collect that. busywork without any substance.
