Why does Classic look so much better than Retail?

To preface I have just started playing Classic and am not biased, I have played WoW on and off since MOP but started playing properly during Legion.

I just started playing classic after only playing retail and I am shocked at how much better the game looks. Everything looks so much more detailed. I’m just looking at my character’s shoulderpads and can see every little detail. Also the UI is so much better, the classic bar at the bottom with the skills, lets you see way more of the game world.

For some reason the way the resolution and the size of everything in the game just looks so much better, why the hell is this?

When something is objectively not more detailed, nor looks better, yet you claim that it is…then I see no other way to explain this other than some form of bias (or nostalgia) or blurred vision in retail.

You literally talk about “more detailed” and “resolution”. You even come up with shoulder pads as example… I mean, you objectified this matter yourself, now to claim it’s just an opinion. That’s not how any of this works.

Also, the UI in retail can just be tweaked freely to be like Classic…if that’s an argument, then it’s just a failure to configure it as you desire:)

It doesn’t. An opinion is worthless if not backed up with arguments, otherwise there’s literally zero reason to toss it onto a forum. Your arguments are quite measurable (objectively) and talk against your “opinion”.

You just have a preference. That’s what this all is.

I think it may be that, as it made Classic very satisfying for me to play at the time. There’s also something about the art style that is amazing, and retail is different there. It can be very pretty, but it often lacks character for me.

No, personal would be saying I can smell your fedora from here. I’m just genuinely amazed you are getting this mad about an opinion and opportunity for discussion. So I’ll put it down to you prefer the graphics of retail, and that’s fine - more power to you!

I think the issue is, you didn’t present your opinion as… an opinion… You presented it as facts, questioning why Classic looks better and has more details etc. etc. compared to Retail, and when people counter this, you then throw the “It is my opinion” card.

Your post doesn’t invite for discussion but rather makes people question how you can claim not to be biased yet claim this.

If there is barely anyone in the thread who understood your thread as an “opinion up for discussion” maybe you should reflect on your communication :slight_smile:
