Why does Darkshore award 400-item level gear?

I want the gear to feel like progression, because that’s what WoW was and should’ve remained, gear is not means to an end like you said, gear is character’s growth, you do content, you grow in strength and you feel that progression, otherwise you just sit in Boralus or turn to roleplaying.

Titanforging has a far bigger impact on gear progression than WFs.

They both do, jumping +60 ilvl from getting lucky with a drop is harmful to progression.

I rarely, if ever, report anyone but AFKing is my trigger.
Nothing in the world annoys me more than people AFKing in any content :grimacing:

Yes, that does fall under: “for whatever reason”.

Unless you’re talking about transmog it absolutely is. You aren’t using the gear to make your WQs a bit easier, are you? No, you want it to clear content, the end.

In the 3 WFs I’ve done so far, they are pretty damn keen to kick afkers. I like that.

I respect that and my reply was more pointed to other people who are beating the bushes with the issue telling they don’t have “reason” to do higher levels if they get better loot elsewhere. I do understand group dynamics and the problems expectations of others affect your participation in raiding, i just see it as groups inside problem not so much mechanical game issue.

When I play a game, I want to go from start to end, see my character grow. It’s like playing pokemon, but getting a level 30 pokemon in first bush and then skipping 3 towns to get to other level 30 pokemon. I want to see lvl 1-29 pokemon too and find them challenging.

I disagree and the jumps aren’t that big. Your ilvl doesn’t jump that much. You can’t go and do a WF if you’re below 320.

My two alts I’ve taken through so far have less than 370 ilvl. 370 is LFR level. I do not see some great disparity here.

350 for darkshore one, and 400 loot is the reward, and for world boss you can do that without wearing any gear at all, just joining a group, so that can be +400 ilvl upgrade.

The only piece of gear which I ever felt as having any significance is how my priest “mentor” was an owner of the original Atiesh.

Good luck with that. I can’t even get +10 from my M+, but surely everyone else is just showering in 425s from LFD heroics.

Then why is it just gear you’re targeting? Why not, say, scaling? That’s the biggest hindrance to progression I can see in the game at the moment.

I don’t like scaling either, or phasing, but can’t argue all bad sides of the game at thread that’s about free 400 gear. Would be going way out off topic.

Replacing one item will not make your overall ilvl go up significantly.

No, but renders that slot complete for a lot of content until you get to heroic/mythic level content.

Scaling is actually one of the reasons they have to give good loot for everyone. Even players playing in open world need a good gear just to reach same performance levels they were doing on lvl 111 in ilvl 225 greens.

You already did that, earlier. And it isn’t free, let’s just get that out of the way. If they were free people wouldn’t be whining about how boring it is to get them.

The thing is that it sort of becomes a problem if whatever you “need” for the group is either too abundant or too scarce.

Scarcity: Islands would be a good example here, it is the best and aside from some WQ the best source for necklevel. I absolutely loathe islands but I still do them simply due to the lack of alternatives and I am not the only one who is affected in that way.

Abundancy: The best example would be the Legendary Ring in WoD, if something is so easily available for everyone, it becomes “mandatory” by default because as soon as you reach the point where nearly everyone has it, those who do not for whatever reason, most often by coming into the expansion late, simply will not get a chance to take part in anything more serious.

Warfronts are not at that level of course, but it is something that has been a problem in the past.

I can’t say my alts are ever going to see heroic or mythic level content.

I’m not going to see mythic level either, I just do occassional m+ and maybe a pug with some heroic bosses, which is why getting 400+ item for free in trivial content makes a lot irrelevant, until I get lucky with titanforge at some point and can upgrade it. It’s like how I got a titanforged 395 belt in season 1 from warfront, and then I got 4 more belts in mythic+ dungeons, and I couldn’t use them, can’t upgrade a “bis”.
