Why does nobody talk in leveling dungeons?

I consider myself very casual to WoW, i will pay for 30 days and then usually take extended breaks to play other games.

Recently been leveling a healer from 1 - 60 and have to say the dungeon experience has been miserable. World of Warcraft is an MMO but in ever party ive been in ill say “Hello” and just be met with silence.

Cant really say ill be back to play more since its feel so lifeless to not interact with people in an MMORPG…

Levelling has become a means to an end. Most players want to rush to max level as fast as possible, and saying hello eats into that time

I’d definitely reccommend the hardcore challenge on classic era servers for a more MMORPG feel. The world is alive with people and there’s a real sense of community. Its also surprisingly casual friendly (at least imo) i play maybe 1-2 days a week for a few hours. Without the feeling that you have to power level it becomes a much more enjoyable experience

Because people dont que/search for dungeons to do small talk. They want to clear the dungeon.

Personally dont talk myself, but i do greet people at the start.

It’s just so boring and unchallenging, similar with low m+ keys.

I greet people in Timewalking (Used as impromptu levelling dungeons at the moment), i greet people, but hardly ever get a response, i guess it’s all business for them, no time for talking, that cuts into their XP/hour!

Ah so its more an retail WoW problem?

I have to admit ive actually not tried any classic servers yet.

Because it will be abused. Like everything else.

I am recommending you restrict communication with strangers.

since there is not much else to do in classic and a single dungeon can take 40 mins yeah there’s more communication .
i act like others in my group are npcs tbh

I understand that, I dont expect to stop and chat but you’d think a “hello” wouldnt be that much of a time waste for people.

I used to type hello in dungeons the first 9 years I played WoW.

Because of the go go go mentality and lack of difficulty, there is no reason to talk. Nor time.

It just doesn’t really stop so there is no time to chat. It’s just go until it’s over.

The only way I chat in levelling dungeons is if I’m on discord with friends.

Mmo doesn’t imply a need to be social. Also most people already have a guild or friends to play with. I don’t talk either because i’m there to efficiently level not to make more friends.

Most of the times i also try to do a small chat with other people in Dungeons, but most of them don’t care

That would mean me using my other hand. I’m a clicker so only use the right hand. Normally have a cuppa tea in my left. The things over in a blink of an eye and it’s not like we will ever meet again. Be assured I say hello in my head.

It’s because everybody is too busy trying to catch up with the Tank, who’s already on the 1st boss whilst you were typing “Hello”

Before I can even type hello the tank is zooming through the dungeon pulling 10 mobs.

All I gotta say is, thank God I’m not the healer. I wouldn’t have the patience or the mana

Actually, I might have the patience. Remember doing Diremaul where the tank zoomed, and then got lost.

Any healer would’ve left, but I somehow made it through 45 minutes  and countless wipes. My problem then wasn’t patience, it was lack of mana as the tank kept zooming

Because they are over before i can say “hi”.

I never talk anymore in WoW, it’s been months now, I just play as if the chat does not exist, and yet I just received a behavior warning for Language…

This crappy automated moderation is pure joke.

Yeah, no wonder nobody ever talks anymore in this game.
Any trivial stuff can get you banned nowadays …

This, and classes (also quests) are designed so players don’t need to rely on each other.

I haven’t tried it myself but Guzutv’s vids make it seem fun. Assuming OP’s willing to try something new it can be her taste.

Wrath Classic servers are similar, there is a bit more chat but it’s very brief in pugs.

Just a greeting, and things like “can I get a summon?” or “can you respec pls” so only gameplay related brief chat. Guilds are more welcoming but their chatter seems discord centered, same goes for the server community… assuming there is one.

Well it’s not  I only chat more if I’m running TWs with a fren as he’s good at convo starting and I follow.

That’s me tbh  I love to jump into the fray!
