At this point, it would be interesting to know the logic behind this whole Mage Tower thing. We’ve all heard about the developers wanting to keep certain things exclusive, never bringing them back, but what makes the Mage Tower so special in their eyes? It’s certainly not the difficulty of the Mage Tower, it was quite challenging, but so what, it’s constant story of content becoming obsolete and the rewards for it becoming available to anyone years later. Yes, the Mage Tower was closed after Legion, a limited-time offer, but that’s something the developer directly control, and have the right to bring back such content and its rewards. I doubt this is an attempt to please the more stubborn part of the community, those who don’t want anyone else to get these skins, even now, eight years later. And I’m not sure it’s an attempt to preserve FOMO, Legion Remix is seasonal content, so making the skins available for this period of time is probably a benefit for them.
Considering the Legion Remix’s buggy release, Blizzard looks like someone who walked past hungry children with a bag of candy, scattered it, and began taking it from the kids who rushed at him, saying to them: “No, you will never get these candies.” That’s their right, but I completely fail to understand their stubbornness.
Read an Interview with Ion, where he clearly stated they added AOTC mount and mythic appearances simply because they felt like it and he does not even have any specific reason for that.
After that you will stop looking for any logic or reasons behind some fomo returning and some not
if you like fomo, better get it because there is no guarantee it ever returns, this way Blizzard keeps you unsure and makes you play current content
if some fomo returns, you will never know in advance which it is and Blizzard will mostly use it as a carrot on a stick to temporarily boost the subs - there is no logic behind that, they will simply choose some fomo and use it exactly like Ion said - because they will feel like it at the moment and they will devalue any fomo you can think of in desperate need of subs and revenue, be warned
you do realise that it is not only the MT forms but the other forms that take months of grinding that just unlocked for people right? It’s a bug that affected many forms and they are in the right to revert this
To revert this bug, yeah. But to not even give players a chance to earn them legitimately, either by bringing back MT or making it earnable during Remix like every other hard to get cosmetic, definitely not.
Or simply just make it a seperate gamemode, like Plunderstorm, that you make a borrowed character, that get’s timewarped into the specific time, patch, with borrowed gear at a ‘‘normal’’ itemlevel between Broken Shore patch and Antorus, not to easy, not to hard, and simulate it. They have the patches laying already, and they can make it if they wanted to. Same can be said for Challenge mods, borrowed char at set itemlevel, in the same patch as they used to be. (they already have the patches running on MoP Classic) so I see no reason how it can not be done, but if they will do it, is another question.
Eh knowing how buggy this patch is I am in high doubt that they will fix this bug without causing any harm like some people will keep their forms just by logging out in their forms or simply deleting and restoring their char and what not
If that happens then you have the people who actually earned it
The people who got it through a bug and kept it with above mentioned ways
the people who got it through a bug but got it removed
the people who never got any of it in the first place
it was fair with the first row. It becomes unfair with the latter two. Likely forced to bring the entirety of the class and spec weapons back. Until they have not actually fixed this we shall see
I think I’ve disagreed with some of your other comments on the other thread but you’ve hit the nail on the head here.
It’s frustrating when it seems like Blizzard are being hypocritical, but there’s no point looking for a pattern or logic in it. They might come back one day, who knows.
They just did yesterday, sure by accident, but they did no matter how people twist and turn it.
I thought AOTC were season exclusive, same with deathless transmog.
I thought also that the lvl 60 rank 14 pvp set were never available after classic, but it came back.
List goes on, and on.
So… Is all about time, and people voicing their opinion.
I just wish they would maybe say make a blanket rule that the rare stuff is obtainable with ease after x number of expansions, by then maybe only the collectors care about it. Things like the were bear for example.
Don’t get me wrong, I agree that they should come back but I also agree with Noztra’s point that there’s no rhyme or reason to Blizzards decision making. Which means:
People like us who want MT forms back are talking to a brick wall, as usual
People who are vehemently against the forms coming back, quoting Blizzard saying “MT appearances are prestigious and won’t return” are only right by proxy at the moment and that could change depending on what side of the bed Ion gets up from.
Begging or edited by mmoderator we’re all doing the same thing here: Preaching about a subject that Blizzard will ignore us all on.
Oh for sure, I agree on that. Specially here on EU forums where they never even bother to read.
But again, one never know, people will voice their opinion regardless on both sides, so it’s just a time game, to see what they do. Maybe they will cave, maybe they will relaunch something, maybe they will merge classic realms down the line, maybe there will come a WoW2, no one knows what the future holds, it’s all conspiracy and hopefull wishing from both sides.
In the end, blizzard makes the decision, if they go back or not on their word. But again, it is not the first time they have done so, so… No one really knows, what, when, if , will happen.
Seems like our American Brethren agree with us that these MT skins should be earnable again and their thread is much bigger than ours, they also don’t seem to have as many agitators being childish.
The problem is that Blizz will not listen until the revenue starts dropping.
This is the same problem with another company under the initials WG and their famous game about Tanks… They ignored the feedback and complaints of the community, and now the number of players is abysmal. If Blizz keep going like this, they just might suffer the same fate.
