Well it s kinda interesting to be ignored at LFG because of my nationality. I v asked already a lot of times why and the answer was 99% “because u are Russian” Sry, I know it s a very spicy subject to discuss atm but I realy want to understand WHY EU community `dont want to play with Russians? I m asking about this always when i m not invited in the group because of my nationality and the answers are always same:
“Russians did deplete my keys” - well a lot of EU players did same with me and trust me with all of EU players too. It s not about Nationality It s about Personality.
“do you speak english?”. Well I want to make it clear for all of u: In russian schools everyone learns english and 2nd foreign language (French or German mostly). 99% of Russians go for Diploma in University instantly after School because it s not possible to find a job on Russian Jobmarkt. An you know what not all of EU players are from GB. THere are a lot of them from France, Portugual, Germany etc who speaks very very bad. Well do you always ask when you invite somebody in ur group if this player can speak english? It s not Nationality.
“Russians do always leave from my keys”. A lot of cases when EU player leaves too. Why is it always about Russians?
I m very frustrated by this situation in EU community and i cant understand and i wont understnad it. Never. It s not affordable in 2k20.
I’ve only randomly met Russian players (I assume by the letters used in their names) in LFGed dungeons and battlegrounds and haven’t actually had any problems. There’s been a few cases where they didn’t reply but still took instructions. Guess not everyone’s that lucky though?
There was a topic about this not long ago; would you refuse a russian to invite or kick him or something like that
Basically what we gathered, the main reason is general mistrust based on bad (very very very bad) experiences - and those cyrilic letters and the tendecy to write them and refuse to speak any other language
If its makes you feel better, I was kicked several times just because vulpera = furry (people forgot the Taurens were the og furry… nvm)
You at least could lie about your origin and use normal letters - I can’t hide the fact I play a Vulpie
Well I often get carried by russian players, specially if they’re in a premade so I got no issues.
The ones I tend to have problems with is fire mages lately, they seem to feel like they own the world because they got some good synergy with gear and can be broken in m+ xD
Ps- That happened to me a lot when I played in Aggra. People also blamed me for everything or were rude because they thought I wouldn’t speak fluent english. There’s people like that sadly, just put them on ignore …
I have had problems whit player of any nationality or servers, doesnt matter at all, I have been in full russian groups where they only speak russian whit no problems at all even i I dont understand a word, but at same time I have also ended up in groups whit 4 spanish players and again not understood a word.
only times I get worried is if I have someone in group that doesnt answer simple questions like are you ready, and it still doesnt matter from where they are, becuse it happens all the time.
heck i seem to have more problems form some specific servers instead, like Kazzak where people seem to be the first to leave if problems come, followed buy servers like silvermoon and ravencrest, for some reason people from those servers seems to not have any patience at all.
I never mention my ethnicity. Not only because I’m afraid of what people will say, but also because I want to avoid my own people lol. They tend to ask too many personal questions when they find out.
Note: I’m not Russian and not even European. But majority of my people join the EU realms.
My experience with Russian gamers is good so far. I never experienced problems. And I’m assuming they are Russian based on the name
Nothing that remotley resemble hieroglyps or something a bird leave behind on a paper after walking in a puddle of ink
To save himself the headache and overal bad taste he was kicked becasue of nationality
Sure, then have to face the mirror but thats easier than expecting the community to change; it is so hardwired in to the midset of WoW palyers russians = something to avoid, the possibility this ever change is slim to none. Let’s not fool ourselves
Horrible, and shouldn’t be this way… but the truth still remain truth
for many it is also a political reason, even if they admit it or not, there is lots of russo fobia going arround, I seen and heard it my self, heck the country I live in has it also to an actulay huge extent.
C’mon at least don’t pretend your eyes don’t starts to tick when you saw the cyrillic letters apear in a BG chat or in a Dungeon
No shame in admiting it
OP asked a question and this is part of the answer, we like it or not
Honestly,I don’t have anything against russians in this game and this is just from my experiences so here I go:
The widely used example of random bgs :-
85% of the time, A random bg with russians on the enemy team is a stomp or a rather super intense fight.
If you take a look at a russian enemy player in a bg, he will most probably be super well geared…like at least almost full hc raid geared and maybe at most one or two out of 10 who are average or below averaged geared. But guess what? those average players play super hard as well and they make the good players on our team use some cds which other good geared russian players then take advantage of to win the fight. Then it ends up in a slow spiral where people on our team end up leaving and results in a stomp at our gy.
It happens A LOT against russian teams than any other teams and I say this as a person addicted to doing random bgs win or lose since WoD.
So people against russians who are not russians have the opposite players some time. Players who are super casual and undergeared players.
This is only in random bgs honestly. Rated bgs is mostly a win against russians because they are too addicted to blowing their cds due to experience of the beginning fights in random bgs and expecting a win out of it.
The Language
Out of everyone I have played with. It seems to me russians love to stick to their language the most than any other player even if they are the only russian in a M+ group or a raid.
Again it dosent bother me at all since I get the job done regardless but it is common etiquette to speak english or try to do so with another tank or in a bg.
Prideful
Maybe because being hardcore in almost every activity in wow makes it so that saying ‘Gg’ or ‘Nice one guys’ is not a thing amongst russians because they assume that if a M+15 key or a good arena win happens then its a natural thing for them and not something to celebrate or whatever.
Just to let everyone know, some of my close wow friends are russians and I purposely que with russians on the alliance side to play against horde russians because the match quality is a lot better since people on both sides are trying harder and I enjoy the challenge of it more.
To conclude, The above stated reasons are why I feel some people don’t like the idea of playing with or against russians.
Honestly my main problem at least with russians in M+ is the fact that they 1. dont speak at all, they usually know english they just keep quiet and dont communicate, 2. they leave at the first sign of any resistance.
Outside of the obvious language (and alphabet) barrier, it’s simply a case of rotten apples spoiling the entire basket. The general attitude of Russian players, let’s call it the “Cyka Blyat” mentality, is infamous in a plethora of games. Given how many players usually sign up to any LFG listing, the offer is large enough for people that not taking chances and simply ignoring Russian players has no drawbacks whatsoever, yet can avoid a lot of potential/perceived nastyness.
what i ve noticed is that russian players, being able to speak english or not, usually dont respond at all. not that it matters much to me because if we fail we fail, but it might matter to others.
a little problem i have is that i just dont understand/can write their names. a couple of days ago we had two russian hunters in our group and we wanted one of them to do something but we just didnt know how to tell them apart/let them know. but thats a more rarer issue imo.
russian players, if they talk, are usually pretty nice from my experience and i cant say i ve noticed that they leave more or less frequently than anyone else. ive had serveral pretty positive and wild experiences with them - and some negative ones but thats a given.
i dont mind russian players and i had troubles with all kinds of nationalities, however, i can see why people might harbor some prejudices. but honestly, every nationality has some sort of prejudice, not quite sure why people keep on harping on russians.
but if i may be honest, i dont think that threads like these are helping.
