i agree entirely with the main post my thoughts are with all the players who cant use trheir normal flight mode and i for one will leave wow forever when my sub runs out in april after 18 years + playing wow ,also i cant see wow changing their ways anytime soon either
I was not a fan of Dragonflying (the new mount thingy) because standing still to recharge just to get up high to a quest was really frustrating… Then i decided to find a guide and get all glyphs and that really helps and almost removes the annoying parts.
Still… I miss my old mounts and the control i had over them when flying. Not to mention my beloved Druid flight form for herb gathering oh man… I miss that the most!
In the end tho… After getting all upgrade glyphs (thankfully only have to do that one time for all characters) it became something i can live with. Its…“fine” But i can’t deny that i miss old mounts and the way they control in the air. Even at less speed. Hopefully we get to decide what to use in the future
They have announced that “regular flight” will be introuduced in a later patch.
I removed the dragon from my action bar and cancelled the last quest. As a sign of my total dislike for this concept I launched myself off the platform and used slowfall to control my path to the area I wanted to go. Since then I have been using the ground mount.
For me the game was better when selective content required you to have levelled sufficiently to gain access to it as with TBC. I like but one of my flying mounts and I use it all the time when I am allowed. This thing they have given me is ugly and the flight system pointless in truth given the ‘supposed’ skills we already have.
One other thing and that is the superior trained skills to which we attain in any given expansion to suddenly discover we are as dumb as soup when we start the next. We rise to the dizzy hights of celebrated champion to find we are now fighting shrubs and bushes and throwing rakes at trees. I understand the need to appeal to a wider audience, but this is Warcraft and it would be nice once in a while for some level of continuity to persist, and that includes flying.
You don’t have to use it, just takes forever to get anywhere without it. They are going to introduce normal flying later on in the game. You just get to play with something new earlier. Don’t like it, don’t use it.
Getting so worked up over df is… weird?
Isnt cluncky at all is so well made, also the control tbh
Dragonflying is awesome. The expansion is great and you are missing out not getting it.
The kind of people complaining about dragon flying must be so boring in real life, like the kind of people who collect stamps for a hobby, relax a bit!
So basically you are furious cause you suck at flying and blame the game and blizzard for it…yeh
It didn’t take long for me to discern that the issue here is, funnily enough, not with Dragon Riding - not if these are your alleged “problems” with the system. In fact, I’d argue that this is so outlandishly false that it’s bordering on blatant trolling, but I have a hunch that you genuinely do believe this
AFAIK, they intend to add regular flight to the Isles later on, but I’m only 99% certain - I’m open to being corrected
Actually, I’d very much argue that given the seemingly overwhelming positivity regarding the system that it’s fairly effortless to tell that the majority of the playerbase enjoy Dragon Riding. It’s seemingly the vocal few - such as yourself, with your strange justifications for your dislikes - that don’t enjoy it
The third option here is the obvious ‘best’ choice, but again, I’m pretty sure the majority of the playerbase are quite content with using Dragon Riding. Funnily enough, I’ve only ever seen complaints here on the forums; I don’t actually think I’ve seen a single complaint made in-game regarding the system as of yet, which I find just a little amusing
The paragraph prior to this has some truth to it, but this statement in regards to Dragon Riding is absolutely baffling and honestly quite humorous - it makes me wonder if this entire post is actually serious or not, even if I lean towards the former
If you had stuck to Dragon Riding, you’d be well aware that two of the four options are notably smaller and would suit your preferred style of mount much more, but I suppose this is what happens when we have knee-jerk reactions to things
Joking and occasional sprinkling of snark aside, unironically log off. I find it difficult to belief you could be so possibly repulsed by such a well-received system like this, but assuming this is true, literally just… log off
Well, if it’s any useful insight for you, I’d probably have a quiet chuckle and discard it if I were a dev - maybe that’s why I’m not a dev though
This sounds like someone who hasn’t unlocked the full glyphs yet, combined with a heavy overreaction.
Jesus dude touch some grass.
God I know right, these people complaining about dragon flying come across to me like they have never had a day of fun in their whole entire life.
You raise a very valid point.
Blizzard as a company cannot account for how the player base plays things. All they have to work with is general information then apply systems that they hope the player base will like. Despite the understanding that no matter what you do that you can not please everybody.
But things like Garrisons in WoD and Torghast in the Sylvannas expansion (Shadowlands) is where they can recognise they $h1t the bed.
They wanted to try out new things so they made dragon riding the new thing. But it was not really a data gathering exercise. For example with the optional flying say back in Warlords of Draenor there were a lot of hoops to jump through. While some players chose to unlock flying others like myself did not, Then there are allied races and new classes. Optional things that are new changes to the game.
Dragonriding does allow players to cover more distance faster. However it should not be a replacement for normal flying that has been with the player base for 15 years now. Something new will not always be positively received. But there is the “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”.
Exploring the new zones, taking time to take in the environment and stuff with flying and more. Not to mention experiencing the new content with your favourite flying mounts that you obtained or purchased is something that has been denied to you.
what the snowflakes in this game cant realise is freedom of choice to do and play however you please in regards to dragon flying i neither like it or dislike it it is what it is and i will fly them as and when i please till wow flying is returned to us us then i will use both like i said its all about choice for each player in parting i will say i am glad i tryed it
Are you feeling alright m8?
It goes where you point
And you can literally do a U-Turn at 150mph
It’s brilliant
I haven’t truly enjoyed the game since they did the “We’ll force you not to fly at max level so you have to experience content the way we think you should” thing with previous expacs. I’ve unsubbed waiting for Pathfinder Part 2 to drop.
I love to fly. It’s part of what makes the game immersive and relaxing for me.
So I’ll take Dragonriding over long timegates on flight any day of the week. This is the most I’ve enjoyed the game since WoTLK. (Not just Dragonriding, but everything in this expac is great IMO).
THANK YOU devs for allowing me to get into the air without a long azz wait once more. I even got my husband to resub. I’m a happy bunny.
They picked Dragonriding only because not doing so would compromise the world design. Every zone is designed with Dragonriding in mind. Every tree, every mountain, every hillside tower. They’re there with the intention of you using Dragonriding. Allowing you to use normal flying mounts would compromise that vision and would prevent many people from even trying to learn how to Dragonride.
This is the direction the game is going in now. If you don’t like it then the old design style is present in WotLK.
people love this feature, never ever ever use the forums for insight…
I would not actualy mind if they would implent the dragon riding to some of the old mounts also, atleast most of the dragon and bird mounts, and keep it like that in all zones. or let people choose in old zones but not in DF, dragonriding is so much faster than a regular mount even if you might risk messing up and having to land, becuse you can still then just run on ground until you can fly also.
plus it does give you a smal risk of dying if you manage to mess up the riding and land on a horrible place.
