After logging into wow classic after a year or so i realized that all my characters were deleted. Why the hell would they forcefully move characters from CLASSIC to a different expantion?!?!?! thats litterly against why people like me went to classic because i dont want to play the other expentions, a GM told me because my characters were moved to WOTLK there is NO WAY of getting them back to classic. Woudnt it make more sense to NOT forcefully move someones char? because than if someone joins after half a year or year they have the option to play classic or WOTLK and blizzard could get maybe a little money for the char transfer from classic to wotlk and people could chose the server they want to play on if they transfer. I would like to have some kind of compensation like a free level 60 boost for my lost classic characters.
No, your characters was not deleted, instead they were exactly where you left them: on the progression realm.
Blizzard gave you an option for 18 months to clone (move or copy) your character to Classic Era servers. Since you ignored that, your character stayed where they are today.

well if it is another post that means other people have felt the same, and giving people the chance to chose them self is better in my opinion. i have not played for over a year and did not got a message that i have to do something or my characters will be moved.
You HAD that option. You just ignored it, even the option was there two years ago - longer than the one year break you took. It is not Blizzards fault, but yours only.
Now, get back on the horse and level a new char - both PvE and PvP are very active right now.
Like i said i have not played for over a year and did not got notified, nice to have a option you are not aware of. And you should have the option to chose once you login again, and thats is in my opinion a better way of handeling things. I will not level a new char, and blizzard has lost another player, easy as that.
That is literally how it was two years ago (may 2021): you had to pick TBC or ERA.
If you did not pick any option for 18 months - 1½ year - the characters was staying on the original realm and progressed to TBC and later WOTLK.
So your excuse with a 1 year break does not hold water since you must have ignored the cloning for two years.
Donât log in for 18 months & wanting compensation? Your time spent typing on here could be spent levelling. Probably 90+ percent of similar posts are from people who knew full well the realms progressed & have now decided they donât like their ânew worldâ so are kicking up a fuss when the fault lies at their own feet. Compensation? ROFLMAO! Close the door behind you.
Luckly you are not a GM other wise i would say check if any of my chars ever logged into WOTLK lol, funny how you think to know what other people have done or think. I honestly always felt that my chars on classic are save, why would i care so much about my chars if it was my own fault?!?! that does not make anysense at all. I would just buy a level 60 boost if it was my fault.

You obviously werenât playing a year ago, even two years ago or you would have had to have chosen Era or TBC. But you didnât or if you did you chose Wrath.
You donât seem to understand, your characters are where you left them Era were the new realms and the natural progression of your characters was Classic => TBC => Wrath. The âunnaturalâ progression was to choose Era.
They are exactly where they should be if you didnât choose. Notice those last few words you didnât choose.
Letâs state what happened, you heard about Era being popular and wanted to play on it after playing on Wrath and you canât.

Lies upon lies. First off it is more than a year ago that tbc happened and came into effect. It is 2 years ago nearly, not only that then you have the clone part, which was advertised afaik even on email and on the launcher and when you logged into the game. So again you werent notified about a normal progression, cause you werent playing the game and still clearly arent.
So just give it up and touch some grass instead of malding in a forum, lying through your teeth to become a victim that you never were.

As a customer I donât care. You can figure out your own tech.
Instead of arbitrarily letting my charaters stay on a classic server you choose to arbitrarily move my charaters to tbc/wrath while my account was deactivated.
My charaters have never even been logged into tbc/wrath so you could just copy them back if you werenât incompetent.
Also talking about the cost of storing a little data in the era of cloud computing is a joke.

Era realms were new and TBC then Wrath was the natural progression for the characters.
The data is gone, face it and grieve.
I faced it. Instead of becoming a return customer I have cancelled my account again after this month is up.
But Iâm just saying that whatever bollox explanation they have for why, when I select âWorld of Warcraft Classicâ from the game menu, my characters are not there, I donât care about. As a customer I just want them to fix the problem and provide the product that I thought I was getting.
Was your choice to not sub when you had 18 months to make the choice, yet you still choose to log in here & reply to stuff as an ex- customer - weird!

Of course they are not there. The classic server you logged into today is not the server your characters were created on. So logically, they are not there.
Iâm still a customer this month. What is your issue anyway, are you suffering from stockholm syndrome or are you just getting involved in a problem that you donât have?
