Every product has its life span. Nothing stays in an “eternal golden age”.
We can debate how Blizzard helped or not with this decline but even with the best of the best management, I doubt we would still be 12M subs. People would still leave for other reasons which are beyond Blizzard’s control.
i like to repeat that wotlk numbers were unprecedented anomaly that will never be repeated again by any game developer.
f2p games don’t count of course
And that “but WotLK had 12M numbers!!!” argument getting thrown around willy nilly.
Yes… if Blizzard does X then 12M subs will just poop in over night. Dang Blizzard is so dumb…they just have to click on one switch and presto → 12M subs.
/sarcasm off obviously
Because the entire company has gone off a cliff didn’t you notice
No. Dragonflying is like one of the best additions into this game since forever it will stay like it or not but normal boring flying is not going away you can still use it if you like mind numbingly boring A to B mechanic.
What rubbish is that? This nonsense needs translation
the 12 million thing was never a reflection of how good the game was anyway, every entertainment media spikes in popularity as the ‘in-crowd’ come to see what all the fuss is about and then scoot off to the next big thing, random example, R.E.M’s Automatic For The People.
also, not like flying hasn’t been in dungeons before, take Wrath again for example, people hated The Oculus, not because it had flying in it, but because they were too lazy to work out how the dragons worked so the majority of parties didintegrated, this is a pattern with nearly all unique dungeons, Karazhan chess, ICC gunship.
again, if dungeon design is dull then it’s a bed you’ve all made because there isn’t one of you anymore that doesn’t want to just smash through for your purples…
*grumpy old rant about the entitled generation…censored…
no sympathy
Is that why people loathed Oculus and even to this day leave it as soon as it loads in on a dungeon finder queue? No… Wrath had it’s fair share of awful dungeons…
like i said, players are lazy so and so’s, there’s nary a gamer alive that will ever read about a game before they play it, the whole problem with dungeon failures is right there and the ‘fun’ dungeons require people to do just that, in fact a big part of why the rp elements were taken out of the game was peoples sheer laziness, take those old dungeon parties for instance, up to an hour of waiting for the other 4 to argue who was the least lazy to run to the summon stone because no way was anyone going to set their flight paths BEFORE signing up for a run and when it finally did happen…“got any arrows, got any food, cos i’m too 'king lazy to go to the shop or level cooking”…
again, no sympathy
anyway, dungeon design isn’t really that much different, players on the other hand, well they aren’t much different either, older…
…sorry…
I must admit, I rather enjoyed Oculus. There was something fun about using a dragon to fly around and fight meanies with. Ah well. each to their own.
waits for Halls of Reflection to be in the next Timewalking WotLK roster
Oh the carnage is going to be glorious until the inevitable nerf like they nerfed Pit of Saron.
You’re complaining cos you can’t skip half the bosses so I translated to your actual point
That used to annoy the hell out of me until they dropped it late WotLK, having to use arrows and ammo…
“OK Am I equipped to go adventuring… I have 500 food items… same with water… and I have 20,000 arrows. Now I can run for miles!”
The realist in me was screaming do you know how heavy a quiver of 20 arrows is and an ammo pouch of bullets is… You actually think you’ll be able to run around with a pack of ammo that would need a whole platoon to carry…"
ANYWAY…
Videogame logic.
“lets go swimming! IN MOLTEN LAVA!! Last one in is a rotten egg!”
You mean the dynamic flying, which is already confirmed to be part of next expansion as well?
That being said, i miss most of the BFA dungeons, they were so much better…
‘TBC flying’ as the devs are calling it will remain in the game as well.
And it won’t have a pathfinder requirement anymore either; they said you just need to level up and do the campaign; that’s all.
So it’s fine; we’ll have both versions available to us. Use whichever you like best.
I hated it because vehicle combat shouldn’t be a thing. I sat out on first boss in ulduar as well because I hate vehicle combat so much. I left strand of the ancients if I got it when queuing random BG, because I hate vehicle combat. I leave wintergrasp if I get it. I leave isle of conquest if I get it.
I think the cannons in tol dagor should never have been implemented.
The iron stars in iron docks should never have been implemented.
They ALL SUCK.
If I get thrown into a vehicle to do combat in quests/WQs, I just leave it. They SUCK.
It should straight up not be a thing that you don’t play your character.
i think WM & AD are both best dungeons of this season
Oh yes, they’re abandoning Dragonriding, but they’re replacing it with Dynamic Flying. Okay, it’s the exact same thing, but you are right, Dragonriding is being abandoned.
Whilst I agree with you that most of Dragonflight dungeons are a bit bland (dungeons are the one thing that I think Shadowlands has over Dragonflight). I will spring to the defence of Nokhud Offensive. It is easily one of my favourite all time dungeons. I absolutely loved running that one back in Season 1, and miss it dearly.
Just like it is skill issue to do low dps, it’s also skill issue to suck at dynamic flying
The dungeon are good enough tbh, i dont see any problems in it. Nokhud its a special one the first dungeon that actually introduced flying wich i find nice.
Wm, AD, Throne, Dht, BRH all good.
