Why has dungeon design gone off a cliff?

Nokhud its a special one the first dungeon that actually introduced flying wich i find nice.

It’s sad that they can’t be innovative anymore without players being mad for skill issues. Would have liked it, if they did hard dynamic flight challenges in M+ that go up in difficulty with key level, and just let people, who don’t want it, sit on the passenger seat of my drake.

You are right about that. Now the question is why I can’t skip in Plaguefall anymore? I am doing the dungeon alone. Yes I can one shot all bosses but why must I? It was not like this at the start. I just don’t like the new design direction.

A few dungeons in wotlk were fun. Oculus… wasnt fun. The mechanic was always trash boss trash boss. But what do you expect? Trash, tea time with the farmers, boss, shopping tour in the city, boss, trash?

I didnt like SL much, but the dungeons were great. So are the new ones in DF. Except nokhut.
For me, the difference between FF dungeons and WoW dungeons, is simply the storytelling.

Maybe it should have been a 1hr+ run? whats wrong with that? My point is that dungeons nowadays are tailored for M+, You are never gonna see dungeons like BRD, Stratholme, Violet Hold or the Occulus again, and Old dungeons like Scarlet Monestary, BRS and Uldaman get overhauled to fit the formula. All dungeons now must have 3-5 bosses and very carefully placed trash to fit the M+ model. This hinders creativity in dungeon design and story telling through dungeons.

The tailoring of dungeons as you say is something older than mythic +, it is present since Cataclysm & was part of the change of framework at Blizzard. As explained a bit above, the way they were doing things was not working correctly in terms of time consumption & they re-adjusted, seems maybe more synthetic now but at least the zones & dungeons have coherence between them.

They changed that? Thought you just had to kill the last two. The amount of pugs that just expected us to do that

Yes they changed it because it was exploited (I don’t remember how exactly, probably quick renown farms or something like that) so they made the last boss not attackable until the other bosses were cleared.

Flying in Wow is now more engaging thanks to the addition of dynamic flight as a central feature.

I like it even more than we have flying in the current raid DURING a raid boss fight
