It seems like the vast majority of the community want dungeon finder. The largest poll to date by warcraftlogs, which i feel is pretty representative of the community showed a huge majority of players want dungeon finder in.
Despite the majority of players saying this, and all the forum posts etc it doesn’t feel like blizzard has softened there position at all. Feels like they’ve decided there right, then end.
They got us, addictive semi-nostalgic players who still hope in Blizzard common sense…
And while we hope something will change in Blizz retail stone age brains, we pay month over month…
Our last hope is some big change in Blizzard… something like Ion Hazzikostas and his very bad devs team to get fired… maybe M$ will do something about…
They didnt announce it will be delayed, they announced it wont be part of the game, because “our classic community” says social bounds are important. I agree to the importance of social bounds in vanilla wow. Wotlk, however, is a different game with a different game pace and the Blizzard team isnt able to understand this. RDF will help to increase to overall activity of players and reduce gatekeeping/boost runs. It was designed to fit into wotlk and was introduced because it was needed. The earlier it is introduced, the better, but it should be included in wotlk at some point, because its an original feature, that solves many problems.
I made a thread about how to address possible issues/downsides of the tool, but they couldnt care less.
The irony that they said they would listen to the community about the future of classic wow after wotlk, but ignore this
Players like you are the reason it got removed in the first place. It was not neccesary to remove it for the minority that doesn’t want it - if you don’t want it, don’t use it? Now the majority will suffer
At least I hope they introduce something like M+ tool where you post a group for dungeon and people can join in. Currently there’s so much hassle to keep shouting and spamming.
Since I gather my own groups all the time I’ve even removed LFG chat from my main window, even though I constantly spam it with macro looking for people.
Being vocal about it is different from “the vast majority”
Just in case, those who are fine without LFD don’t have the same incent to participate in every polls or spam forums about it.
IMO, it’s a 50/50. The biggest poll about LFD is 60/40 in favor a LFD but, as i said, most of players who are fine with it don’t care about participating to as many poll as possible unlike those who want it to be added.
How do you determine that those who have a definite problem with the RDF are not active in the forum or polls. Those who dont care about polls are more likely to enjoy the game as it was, than to have an altered version. Even if some dont have a problem with it being altered, you would still alter it for an minority in the end. As long as I dont see a representative poll stating otherwise, I get the impression you are one of the vocal anti-RDF-vanilla fans that spam the forum, that you yourself imply to not exist.
In the end, even if was 50-50 in regards of “keep it close to the original version” and “lets change the classic version”, why would the altered version, that has 50% max, be favored? Objectively it doesnt make sense, since the faithful recreation was the core idea.
Seems like the ‘majority’ are private server wrath babies that want this feature the most. At least that’s my impression from talking to several people. People that played the blizzard version of wrath would understand both sides of why it’s good/bad–only positives about that feature is auto grouping and porting to dungeon. the bad: vote kick abuse, lack of socialization/communication, gearscore blocking players from content, and the break of immersion for players who like the adventure of getting to a dungeon. Blizz never launched rdf immediately last time, for all we know they will launch it later in the xpac this time too. Try not to get so worked up over something that has yet to happen…
Those who have a bad experience with something are more vocal about it and they are more incent to leave you a 1/5 with a bad comment.
Meanwhile, those who have the expected experience aren’t vocal about it. Why ? Because they had what they expected. Unless this experience was beyond theirs expactations they won’t talk a lot about it.
You are correct with saying people having a bad experience with something are more likely to make a comment. However, while this the case for non-discussion platforms like product reviews, it is usually not the same for open discussions on an official forum. Those who read a topic here are likely read and comment, if they see themselves affected and have strong feelings about it either way.
About the expectation part, that is true and a good argument when it comes to reviews, but not regarding RDF. I dont believe most players would have expected Blizzard intends to remove/not include core features in the first place.
