Why is blizzard trying to remove flying from the game

What is the point in removing the flying from the game i mean its not fun to walk to all these huge vast areas full of mobs that are dazing me from ground mount and making me fight them (in the maw i cant even use the ground mount for ‘‘immersion reasons’’) its not immersive a flying phoenix of flame doesent need to wait two patches before it learns to use its wings again STOP REMOVING THINGS FROM THE GAME AND REPLACING THEM WITH STUPID IDEAS THAT YOU CAME UP WITH IN DRAENOR (if you havent played draenor, dont)

I can highly recommend using the Comfortable Rider’s Barding as mount equipment, this prevents you being dazed while mounted in the open world.

They tried to remove flying and faced a huge backlash so now we have a compromise which neither side likes. We face a period of time without flying, where everyone is grounded and then they release the ability to fly through an achievement later in the expansion. This time we know it’s coming with patch 9.1.

Why? Because riding on the ground takes more time. Since we are paying for the time, we will pay more.

It was actually something we the players requested back around when Mists of pandaria was about to be released I think? Players where afraid the exploration part of a new expansion would be spoiled if we all could just fly over it all. So we wanted it restricted at first.

Then blizzard went above and beyond and locked it behind rep achivements etc xD not sure we wanted it -that - restricted in mind when we asked for it.

‘We’ the players are not one voice. I certainly miss the buy flying at max level system we had before.

Because Blizzard came to the conclusion that unrestricted flying was a giant mistake.

To cause a sub-boost around the time flying gets unlocked once more. No more, no less.

… for the devs, at least.

But if hey want us on the ground, they need to provide compelling gameplay on the ground. And this they completely failed to do in Shadowlands.

I could have worded that differently… Yes. there where a group both for and against it back then too. I also miss buying it at max level. Would much prefer it to be buyable after the first patch or so than what we’'ve had up untill now.

Even compelling gameplay would be trivialized by flying so long as there is no real penalty to it.

I love flying, my enjoyment of the game improves tenfold once it’s permitted. Obviously those that hate flying feel the opposite.

The majority of people seem to want to fly by default, but for those who love walking then they could keep on using their ground mount. There’s little good reason to not have flying at expansion launch. Like, they should just embrace it. The zones are already designed with flying in mind - esp. Revendreth.

They literally went out of their way to add carriages, bats and horses as extra means to get about as a stop-gap measure while they withhold flying. And even disabled the flight masters whistle.

To slow down the players - more time we spend moving from point A to point B the more time we spend in the game.

If we can just fly there - they might have to create actually interesting, engaging and rewarding content to keep their metrics up.

I’d hate it less if there were real tangible dangers in the sky that discouraged the way we use our mounts.

The worms in 9.3/anti aircraft artillery on Mechagon were kinda their first real attempts at something like that but unless you were asleep at the wheel they didn’t really do much to you.

Which is a really funny argument given that without flying, 90% of the players aren’t exploring anything. And from the ground, all you can see is just trees. Only when they can fly they really start to explore all the places they couldn’t be arsed to get to because of walls of elites and such.

Many didn’t like them, but it was only in two zones. Personally I prefer my flying hassle free, so I’m free to soar and explore. I also find it far more interactive than jumping on a flight path and doing something else on my other monitor while I am travelling.

But we are all different.

I’m glad we don’t have a pathfinder atleast

I no-lifed the pathfinder part II in BfA, it was weird being one of the few flyers to start with.

I do not enjoy having to do that though.

I was pretty OCD about it not being able to enjoy anything else aslong as I didn’t have pathfinder complete

Same… and then i started gathering Zin’s like crazy until every1 had flying and the prices tanked.
Made a pretty penny there. xD

OT: I prefer that we level on the ground the first time, with our main’s presumably and then at max lvl we learn flying again, wouldn’t mind paying for it.
Also once our main unlocked flying, then all of our alts can fly too and can level with flying.

As opposed to now where i don’t want to touch my alts without flying… guess i’ll wait until 9.1 and hopefully i can fly on my alts asap.

This no-flying part doesn’t mean i play more to lvl my alts for example, it means i don’t play them at all, if i could fly on them, i’d spend more time on them.
