Why is botting allowed?

How come people are allowed to bot to rank 14 without getting banned? the same people are stuck in starting cave for months straight getting kicked out from being mass reported on any match that last longer than 10min. On the short 7min matches they still get the starting honor and don`t get kicked out but still get mass reported and nothing ever happens.

Does this incompetent joke company just simply not have any anticheat in place and they do not care at all? everyone knows blizz is a failed/collapsed company and we expect nothing but when hundreds of people report the same bots and nothing happens its getting to next levels of embarassment

they simply do not care. They never have, never will. The game is done, start looking for new options.

The company did lose 60% of its stock value and on the verge of total collapse was bought by Microsoft. Every game they have is 100% dead and in maintenance mode or on the verge of going there. You just have to understand that it is time to move on and look for a new game made by someone else that cares and can do their job.

not all people you think are bots are bots
so it stands to reason that quite a few wouldn’t be. sadly other players can’t control the amount of effort another puts in so some will try and some won’t try at all but it doesn’t mean they are all bots.

I really don’t care about number of bots. The biggest problem is there is not enough people queueing to reach rank 14.

BGs are popping each 15 minutes on wednesday, thursday, friday and saturday. Wait time increases in early and late hours. After saturday joining queue becomes meaningless at all because it is sometimes more than 40 minutes.

At this rate, i would prefer more bots joining to queue instead of farming 3k honors per hour. Banning them won’t solve any issue, you will end up less people queueing and your wait time will be more than before.

Bringing back deranking and implementing a system to scale AV for 20vs20, 30vs30 will solve most of the problems.

I was done with 500k honor last week on Sunday. That leaves two full days for the week so how is it not possible?

Maybe i have only time to play on monday and tuesday, and i cannot login certain times of the day like between 5PM - 10PM, so it is automatically impossible for me to find any battlegrounds.

Stock check: This is incorrect; https://www.investing.com/equities/activision-inc-historical-data

According that data around two years ago they started at April 2022 75.60 with lowpoint at 70.94 up to the acquisition where they’ve been taken over by Microsoft and delistment occured it was traded at 94.42

As for botting, if players report them they will get investigated and then marked for monthly banwaves if guilty. They do not take direct action unfortunately.

today i tested to be sure about queue time, and sadly i am right. Game is in pathetic situation, 15 min queue at the start of week for 1 game. By assuming game will take 10mins, we can say it is avarage 25-30mins to get 3k honor and on aravarage we get 6k honor / hour.

Grinding 500k honor / week at this rate will take around 83 hours play time. Even if you play 10 hours a day, it is more than a week.

I hope blizzard don’t ban botting people, and add some extra bots to both sides to decrease queue time.

I dont play era BGs but looks like it’s not bots but just people afk farming honor, real bots (for example DKs in WOTLK) not stay in starting cave, they move and fight (yes very primitive but still). So i guess that’s just real people accepting invite and goes afk. And also in Era gold farming bots dont need BG gear, so they doing it for themselves, not for profit.

Afraid not. I do not play regularly anymore, but I do test the water every now and then. From what I have seen it is rather bot infested in AV, between 1 in 2 and 6/10 are bots. Has been like that ever since the wonderful honor “update”/ vanilla revision back in august. Before that revision we had next to nothing of this. Was a few sand people but those where not into pvp to begin with so seldom put a foot in a bg.

Not certain if these bots represent a coordinated effort (selling “geared” accounts) or players simply botting their own ranking process.

In any case, they all appear to be on the exact same script. Kill npcs just outside sh gy > gather 20-25 players on 1 single spot near sh gy for 1m or so then move on to the next leg where they again kill npcs; move on to the last base and kill npcs. Same exact pathing every single bg.

Then you have 5-10 real players who will move with the bot train, and protect them in case alliance or horde attempts to disrupt. Not in order to “protect” the bots per say, but for their own honor gain. This is legitimately how they rank up.

You do get the cavers too though, but they are far fewer/ more obvious. Yet they are not stopped or caught and “allowed” to carry on.
Very few players stream era, but for the few that do; it is a common occurrence to see them “rank” a secondary acc as they raid on their main/alt.
Simply queue up, autorun and alt tab for the the full duration. These are your cavers.
The saddest part is they do not even attempt to hide it, it has become a common/ accepted thing to do.

For all its faults, the old system rewarded effort. The new pvp system only requires your attendance. While players could cheat or bot in the old system too (and we had next to no functional moderation then either), in competing for spots, the cheaters where inherently limited in doing so in the old system.
This as players putting in effort would be substantially more efficient.

That limiting factor is gone now. The cap is so low the 0 effort players may only afk 1 more day and they are capped. The mindset then (players and botters) is that afking is rewarded, why try when you “get it” anyway. Path of least resistance is very human.
With that mentality we get players like a few in this thread, “rankers” on pvp servers who truthfully is of the mindset that queue time means downtime.
What a wonderful idea.

On a positive note, wsgs and abs do happen.
Thankfully these are largely afk/bot free, simply as the bots/afkers make more than sufficient honor in AV no matter the current bg weekend. (They reach the cap anyway, why should they change anything).

No idea hows pvp bots work on vanilla, but on WOTLK/Retail they can do fights better then actual players, outside of some bugged things like los following.

It’s cuz alli outnumber Horde, so you gotta wait. Our queue times are mostly 2 mins. You guys wanna always have the 17vs1 advantage, now you gotta live with it.

I think it’s a lose /lose situation for Blizz. They are a company that needs profits with the aim of increasing those year on year.

They will have crunched the numbers and considered taken stricter action but the result would be less real players would play the game because they can’t just pay for things rather than play for them and they would loose all the bots accounts.

Even though all these things are against there own rules they could never take any serious action against bots due to the financial impact it would have on their business.

Imagine you are shareholder and a company you have invested in sends you a message saying they have banned 100’s thousands of accounts and profits won’t be as great this year.

We have a Greed in which we have agreed as the song goes.

I wonder when AI will start to affect how gaming bot’s operate hmmm

If those ping pong robots take up gaming we’re in trouble.

Have you ever tried playing counter-strike or half life against bots ?

I bet you stand 0 chance winning against modarate ones.

Bring artificial intelligence to queue and fight like most avarage wow players, and decrease queue time to zero. There is no point waiting 30 min for PvE honor farm.

This isnt the counter strike forums therefore its not relevant to the discussion

I highly disagree about bots not being banned, that Blizzard can’t recognize them properly/ does not want to spend resources to detect them, is another story.

Until a year ago however I thought the same thing and I have been reporting (in my eyes) suspicious behaviour, and out of the 10+ cases, about 80% of the time I got a response back in my mailbox in-game a couple of days (sometimes a week) later - that action had been taken. (but they couldn’t tell me against whom or in what way they decided that a cheater/botter was detected)

Maybe some of you are really not that good at detecting ‘bots’.

Auto running into the wall (because you are grabbing a coffee, or taking a pee comes to mind).

I do wonder if there is not some ‘captcha-like system’ which could get rid of the vast majority of bots automatically. (yes it would be annoying to have to prove that you are a human)
