It feels way too much like a Disney movie. With SL people were proud that Blizzard was finally moving towards more mature themes like pain, despair, hope and redemption but now we’re going back to this disneyfied cartoon where everyone wants to be best friends. Also all the characters and quests seem like they were written by the same person, the type of person who constantly wants to speak with the manager when they feel they’ve been offended. Most of the people playing this game are over 30 years old, I think they can handle some dark themes without breaking down.
So what exactly is the problem? Is it not in the slightest a little bit refreshing? Can be quite boring with constant dark themes all the time.
Have you done the Duroz and Kolgar quest?
Or the Veritistrasz one?
Hm. but have you seen the loading screen?
I find it totally wrong and intolerant. 3 men and nobody without make-up and dress/skirt.
2 women and all are not natural and have strange skin color…
and we have 2022 year outside… WHAT IS THAT?
He may have left those in protest.
I don’t know because I stopped reading quests after I got to the centaur zone because I was just rolling my eyes at everything. Even the centaurs, a barbaric tribe that should hate outsiders apparently just want to be friends with everyone too? I want more dark and depressing stories that make me feel emotion, like eternal strife and broken dreams.
Have you seen the end of the Azure Vault?
And the “dwarf quest” at the Ruby Life Pools?
It doesnt like Disney movie. You ‘feel’ that way because SL was very spiky, even for WoW standards. Even more spiky than WoD. This makes SL very special.
Oh please, we’ve had enough with the dark shadows of the tormented dead of doom during an entire xpac, a change of tone was most welcome
The Shadowlands ® Best expantion eva.
after many (liters) tons of beer?
Even ‘The Thorgast, the Tower of the Damned’ alone makes it the best.
I feel like World of Warcraft used to have a darker and more depressing yet beautiful tone. The tone of early WoW and Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild are extremely similar.
Since MoP the game has taken on a much lighter tone - even at the coming of the end of the world. It has been a while since we have seen Blizzard do something truly dark - this is also why many of their recent villains have fallen flat: If you refuse to show what horrors they commit in full flower, then their evil cannot be truly appreciated.
EDIT: Of course, an exception most certainly exists in the form of Diablo 4. That’s… very dark. Probably the darkest thing Blizzard has ever done.
naturally. The main thing is that you have enough beer power to actually play it. even if you fall asleep at the keyboard…

I do not recommend enter to Thorghast, the Tower of the Damned ® after drinking some beer. This place is serious. I still don’t have +13 dropping Mawrat from there. The only last thing I don’t have from the Maw and from Thorghast, the Tower of the Damned.
I miss the Maw with Eye of the Jailer mechanic. Wonderfull days.
Don’t drink too much. It is not good. Half pint a day is enough.

nobody without make-up
If you mean it as you are saying it, the men do not have make-up. If you mean it the other way, as in that you are actually looking for someone with make-up, Alexstrasza is there for you with red on her eyelids.

and dress/skirt.
Nozdormu has a curious robe. I’d say you got the dress point there too.

are not natural
Not sure what you mean by that.

and have strange skin color…
Elves if anything. Night elves (Ysera’s visage for example) tend to have skin color ranging from many shades of blue to purple.
Please correct me if I am wrong, but something tells me that I just wasted my time, since you probably meant this only as a mockery of sorts…

I want more dark and depressing stories that make me feel emotion
Are the only emotions you think exist are dark and depressing? Lol.
Now I have no issues with DF. I actually kinda like it.
But we haven’t exactly had any dark themes lately, all previous expansions felt like scrapped episodes from a cartoon network show. Scrapped due to inability to live up to quality standards.
Yes there have been atrocities commited but never in a way that impacts or shocks the player unless said player is someone who has never watched a movie, and there has never been a WoW writing team with the
to show said thing in detail, or at least the courage to kill the perpetrator in an agonizing manner in which you can actually feel that they paid in full for their crimes (take Sylvanas for example). The violence is utterly bloodless and weightless, now I’m not saying that we need gore but at least SOME blood effects would suffice! When the Primalist Dragon bit Alexstrasza in the Waking Shores cinematic and there wasn’t even a drop of blood, that kind of bugged me. Even in Thor Ragnarok when Fenrir bit the Hulk in the leg there was some sort of green blood.

Also this is untrue, I felt like SL was more like Danuser’s SFW depiction of his sexual deviance, what with all the chains, mind-control themes and what-not.

You’d be surprised.

WoW aesthetics are cartoonish in its existance.
Which is think is good in a way If you look at other MMOs that try to be realistic (GW2 for example) the game is aging like milk
