just hit level 12 on my mage and wanted to train things, but when i talk to the trainer the train page is just blank, there is nothing i can train i cant even see the things you can train
I assume that you’re talking about the trainer in the first area you’ve visited after the starting area? Just head to the mage trainer in your capital city and they will be able to train you.

Did you accidentally unclick / declick … missing a word here … the option to show things you can learn?
If Chakotay is rigth his initial dialogue will tell you where to go.
My thoughts as well.
Trainers from the starting areas are phonies who act like they know everything but actually can only show you a few tricks you learn in a couple of hours at worst.
Cities, that’s where most of the actual professionals are.

If you’re talking about the Mage trainer in Northshire - the place where you spawned at level 1 - Chakotay and Kyph are right as he’s a one trick pony
Whereas if you’re in Goldshire, I’m right as he can teach you almost everything you need.
oh so if i move to a diferent place i need to use the on that is closest? like i just got to westwood so i need to find one there? or as in capital city you mean stormwind?
Have you enabled seeing things you can’t learn yet?
By capital cities we mean Stormwind, Ironforge and Darnassus for Alliance, and Orgrimmar, Thunder Bluff and Undercity for the Horde. That’s where the “high level” class trainers are.
There are some exceptions (for example there’s a rogue trainer in the mountains of Hillsbrad or no paladin/mage trainers in Darnassus, as night elves don’t have those classes) but in your case you can just go to Stormwind, which I imagine is the most convenient location.
