Why it is rude to be bad at the game

Yeah sadly theres alot of boosted players out there, people with 1.7k rio who dont know the baseline mechanics of bosses.

And they are taking the p*ss i have a cut off.

If im doing a +5 on season 1 of a expansion generally poor performance is expected and seeing new players are also expected.

But if i run a +15 and some dude fails a very basic mechanic of simply “dont move when u see this massive DBM alert come up” yeah. Hes taken the p*ss.

These people weren’t 1.7k rio. These are people that are 2400-2600ish.

How much gold they must have spent to get rhat shiney gear :joy::joy: ive never understood the point of it.

None.

One of the other dps in that run wiped us on medivh when he was almost dead by using a movement ability when flame wreathe was about to go up. Would have been easily in time if not wiping us when medivh was almost dead.

Here’s a +26 where we failed the timer as well because of people not knowing how to play:

2 dps died on the last boss, because they just ran into the first shuri, like, legit ran into it. The same 2 dps died in the oasis to getting hit by rotten food and 1 of them died in the menagerie because they got sucked in at the 3rd boss there. One of them was also doing pretty much tank damage.

I recently had 4 failures at doing kara, because of medvih, think i quit my own key on 2 of them lol.

At the start i always ask if they know medivh fight, and everytime they say yes, tben absolutely flop at the boss.

People forgot games meant to be fun.

No wonder mmorpg genre are falling off - not many players are into it now a days. Even freaking pubg and candycrush has more players than all mmos combined.

Its ok to fail and learn but most important is having fun.

Source for this?

Considering:

168k are playing it atm.

Even this old mmo game:

Has like 7-8% of that playing at the moment.

You made it sound like you came back from Vietnam

First of all.

OP, I think this is a very well thought out post and you describe the situation very well.

A few years ago, I remember a thread where I adamantly said that anyone who wants to do group content (well M0 and upwards) with other players should at least have the decency to either watch a 5-10 minute video or read the tactics before hand. I do it, and I expect others to do the same.

I remember getting responses like “I don’t have time, when the video is over the group will be gone”. I don’t ever remember that scenario where that has happened to me. When I start my session, I think to myself “I’m going to clear Halls of Atonement today”, I go to Youtube and search “Halls Of Atonement Mythic tactics”. I watch a 10 min video on what to interrupt and watch to expect of the boss tactics. Done. That’s it! Anything you don’t undertstand, just ask.

Now, with regards to understanding your class and skillset. I would say Normal, Heroic is learning the game, anything goes. M0 is learning the basics of the dungeon. +2 - +10 learning the basics of your class, +10 and above fine tuning.

If you sign up to a group low key group with lower than 226 gear. I will not invite you. The very least you can do is send yourself anima from your main to buy Zereth Mortis Gear. If you don’t have the anima to do that, imo you’re not skilled enough to join the group, get yourself in Heroics and gear up to above 226.

In higher keys 10-15ish. If you sign to my group and your armour is below average for that key. I don’t care if you have 2.5k main, you can use your own key to gear up. I want a smooth run. That doesn’t mean, that I won’t carry a friend on my own key.

I am 100% behind this. There are too many players brand new to the game who have heard that +15 is where it’s at, and sign up to keys that they’re not ready for.

It should be a (accountwide), process of unlocking. Complete this level, before being able to try this level.

And finally, this guy has it 100% with this statement:

Indeed.

However, the way M+ is designed makes it toxic. Failure = Punishment. And that can turn people toxic.

However, it is still a very good thing to have at the back of your mind whilst playing. Treat people nicely, its just a game.

Very true. But learning and failing at someone else’s expense? It’s just best to come prepared.

(grins) Heck I’ll admit it, I am BAD at the game, and really I don’t care either…it’s not something I aspire to improve on as it’s generally a useless skill.

I play for entertainment, escapism, and because personally I love Azeroth…

However I do get that it’s inconsiderate to group with others, thus I don’t. I have individual responsibilities that mean I often can’t control my afk periods or even sometimes give 60% attention to the game. I get that, I understand it impacts my gaming ability…

I don’t ever inflict that on anyone else, in-fact I am a little passionate about the way people’s free time and entertainment should be only dictated by themselves (smiles)

While completely ignoring the impact that multiplayer activities impact other people and therefore their enjoyment of the game.

Plus bosses that require a multitude of addons, weakauras and such to even be able to do them. Lords of Dread comes to mind but there’s several others that are too chaotic that you need addons just to keep your sanity.

Personally I wish bosses had (far) less health and perhaps more dangerous mechanics instead. Many bosses take between 6-15 minutes to kill, usually the last 2-4 bosses but also when the raid just released, but of course it can also depend on the skill of your group.

Those bosses are a snoozefest, especially if the mechanics are simple and there being only a few of them, only worsens when you wipe or have important players die (tanks/healers mostly), where you have to force wipe it. 6+ minutes of bashing buttons, breezing through mechanics to slap a damage sponge.

I’d like to see more bosses with interesting mechanics like Opulence, Jadefire Masters and King Mekkatorque. Not just the simple dodge, soak and slap.

I say let people do whatever they want in the game play how they like, it’s thier money and time, who is anything to tell them what to do with their time.

If you don’t like it block them and never play with them again simples. Pointless crying on the forums.

  • dying and waiting the pull to die by the others to get ressed, instead of running 150 yards back.
  • no interrupts, because damage is much more important
  • give the tank new routes on the fly, confusing him so he makes mistakes.
  • complaining the tank pulled little and when the tank pulls more and die complaining the tank pulled a lot.

And this is just the top of the iceberg.

It isn’t rude to be bad in game! It is rude to trash talk new players while they are trying to learn the game! Please control your ego or play solo!

Ever considered that they are trying to learn that level of key? Maybe they are new to the +10-15 bracket?

This makes most sense to me. Instead of trash talking or making other feel bad, just leave and carry on.
And people NO it isn’t toxic to leave, if someone doesn’t want to play with you anymore is it their choice!

Haha! What did I just read? Do you play with dogs?

You must be wizard :man_mage: that kind of knowledge doesn’t many possess!

Sorry you’ll have to explain this to me a little…
I basically quest, gather, fish, and explore, with my husband, how does that negatively impact other people.

I don’t ever engage in any multiplayer activity in Azeroth unless it’s with my husband only, or people whom know my son has extremely complicated additional needs and are all okay with this.

It’s strange as you’d think in this rush rush day and age that these would be scarce, but I am always surprised when people offer to run me and Alex through things and are completely okay with the potential for disturbance.

However other than that, we play as if this is a solo game, I don’t think we really impact anyone else.
