Why not expand classic

It’s not what Blizzard thought, it’s how the modern day kids are. Shiny trophies for everything, even pooping in the diaper and not on the kitchen floor. Instant gratification, plus a bit of gambling ofc. The smartphone generation has an attention span of 6 seconds. So those kids do want it, it’s just that those kids won’t play WOW, because it’s outdated.

Ultimately, it’s the shareholders/marketing people fault. The economy is based on infinite growth, so they too had an illusion of growing the game indefinetely. Pandas are not in the game, because they didn’t know better, Pandas are in the game to pitch the WOW to the Asian markets. Esp kids. Ofc it all failed, because that is not how MMORPG’s work and their audience is, but the marketing people have no idea, nor did they cared much.

And I don’t have any hopes or good expectations for “building on Classic” or “WOW 2”, not from a company that focuses on expanding the market and making all the money in the world. The mindset of making high quality, almost best in the genre games of Blizzard is long gone. It’s not going to return, because the company is filled with marketers and not nerds anymore. WOW2 would be incredibly terrible and a fail of a game, because in the current year, Blizzard will build it around smartphone gaming.

I mean blizzard games are still high quality polished products, it’s just that fast gratifying rewards are enforced all over the place. I mean for me WoW vanilla, Lineage 2 were my old school mmo’s, I honestly think there is a market for sandbox player driven mmorpg’s if high lvl company like Blizzard goes for it.

I hope they manage to announce next retail expansions which reworks the game in meaningful ways and not just scrap old features remake them and package it with new zones. They have to adapt sooner or later.

Similar to OSRS?

“I honestly see no point to launching TBC in the future as it is, I can go right now and play it on private servers if I wanted.” <-- But you could’ve played classic on a private server, so I don’t see why you even mentioned this part lol.

The problem was with WoW, they catered too much making the game extremely casual and easy to gear up.

I don’t realistically see Blizzard upkeeping 3 versions of WoW at the same time. Just look at how much resistance there was for Classic in the beginning. I am intrigued by the idea of Classic philosophy in new content, but I think it’s more feasible to support change in retail. Solid first step would be to introduce pristine servers (Blizzard talked about them before considering Classic - basically retail without LFG, LFR, cross realm, heirlooms, boosts etc) and see how many players would play on those. I’d give them a try.

Idea that always be like “Classic+”, You ask them: How do we do it right?, They answer: Follow the vanilla philosophy. You ask them for specifics, they: A: Ignore you. B: give in under pressure since their ideas are often far away from that philosophy.

Every thread of the sort is a cesspool. No one can grasp the idea of “everyone has ideas and opinions” and the dramas start.

I follow these threads ever since classic announcement, and it never fail to amaze me how shortsighted people can be. It’s discussed to death and i wont come with walls every time it pops up, did this a thousand times. So no, im not leaving these people destroy the game again. Fresh servers are enough, if there are enough players go with TBC. You can’t make everyone happy.

Use that energy to make Retail better or simply WoW 2.

What’s vanilla philosophy in your opinion ?

I actually want to trust current Classic wow team to make future content decisions, it’s just the question of following old path or try to carve the new one.

But its because community kept asking them. Blizzard did what players asked and then players realised its not what they really wanted.

“If Blizz did implement [anything] thing in later expansions, no point now in repeating the same mistake. Either rework it from scratch so it could work with vanilla or drop it completely.”

the problem is, that the community is devided, some like hard content, some like easy content or easier content, if blizzard would make next expac more like classic is, lots of people would scream, same if Blizzard would open up classic + content, like suggested in the post, people would never be happy

And community would also argue which content actually is easy or harder. Least on forums here its like popcorn worthy entertainment. Some find chores - a hard rewarding task, others find it easy, but a time waste.

Thing is wow classic is easy, unless you expect to accomplish everything in no time and reach the Raids with little effort, like majority of players back in vanilla never even tried to raid. Classic WoW literally has content for both hardcore and casual players.

But you didn’t ask for specifics. You started REEEEing because someone has an opinion you don’t like.

Lol, people will inevitably ask for stuff like barbers, transmog, account wide mounts, aoe looting, aoe tagging, LFG (no joke), Raider IO and Heroic difficulties for the raids and maybe even Mythic + for the dungeons and maybe even daily quests for gold farming and rep becoming more feasible. Because guess what. These things are good and make sense. You wanted classic but now you don’t want classic? What happened to the no changes thing? They already EXPANDED classic with EXPANSIONS. PS Yes LFR sucks, it’s the one thing i would delete.

Do all the people that just say “OH DO IT JUST LIKE OSRS” have even played OSRS? It’s such a fundamentally different game than WoW. WoW has drastic different elements to OSRS and making content in the spirit of Classic for it would be insanely difficult, not to mention incredibly contested by the community. Even on OSRS people are debating quite fiercely, and not in the most nicest of ways, what update is in the spirit of ‘Old School’ and what isn’t.

Imagine multiboxers voting on any multiboxing issue in WoW classic :joy:

I totally agree! In the end its pretty boring playing the same game all over again. People know whats coming… would be cool with a whole new expansion 60-70.

Made a topic a few minutes ago but trolls got it pretty damn quick. If classic will just be classic then I dont see this around for longer then a year after last patch. Sure the diehards will be here but those will be stuck with not a lot of people to play with. For now however the trolls do not see the need, lets wait a year.

But yes I hope Blizzard will develop Classic after last classic patch to something great.

Or maybe because im tired of people ignoring the fact that this is discussed 3 million times a day? Im TL:DR-ing maybe because unlike lazy people that can’t be bothered to look around, i actually broke my hands discussing this whole “classic+” fiasco.

Fun fact, not once it ended with anything but drama overall. People don’t know what they want.

Jep most have not got a clue, if Blizzard wont give any direction soon other then the patches which the oldies have seen before classic wont stick around. Then those against it will be here watching tumbleweed as the mass have moved to the next hype and most have left because bored.
