What is being suggested here is nothing at all like Rift Prime.
Can we compare apples to apples? I’m not talking about some scheduled release of content at different caps. This would be exactly the retail content available now but with server features disabled-- and other things that couldn’t really be called ‘content’ in the sense of raids, quests… etc. It is functionality and catch-up that diminish the social aspects, not the actual game itself.
I agree they wouldn’t work. Blizzard didn’t think they would work either. But still, Blizzard never suggested any thought of expansion caps.
The discussion certainly arose from the regularly rebuffed request for classic servers, but Blizzard never suggested that pristine realms would contain only classic content, levels, continents.
Okay then let’s call them ‘hardcore servers’ because that’s what people have suggested calling them; Yip, it’s not an original suggestion.
Let’s debunk it.
Any time Blizzard have attempted to make levelling slower or more inconvenient. players have revolted. They nerfed levelling XP this patch and not a single complaint (i noticed).
When they made levelling much slower: mass complaint.
They added attunement to the Karazhan (mythic) dungoen: mass complaints, and it wasn’t particularity long.
Would some players like it, yes but…

I just don’t think a Pristine Server would require a new infrastructure like Classic would. It would be much like just having realm types as we do now.
Even just having realms that don’t have CRZ would be a huge benefit. Oh and RP realms aren’t purely closed so they don’t really count.
No it wouldn’t and neither will classic. Classic will be using the same infrastructure Classic will be using a modified Legion client and server code.
With regard to Sharding. I dont think realms have their own dedicated world servers now. They probably mark a shard for use by x realm only.

My point is my idea would be retail but with minor changes (tuning of XP rates for instance, and disabling CRZ) that only need to be made once, and then they’re done. It’s not at all like Classic which is a huge amount of work rebuilding the old content into the modern client.
If it actually lets us who like to level fast and efficiently level in piece, then yeah sure please make these pristine servers so you can have what you want and we can have what we want. Will make the game better for both of us.

How is Classic, a game with no expansions from 2005 like BfA minus CRZ? There’s this small thing called FOURTEEN YEARS of content and changes to how the game plays not to mention all the zones, class changes, mounts, gear…
Even as a really casual player I’d love to see something like this. LFR is basically the only form of raiding I do atm since I don’t really even play nowadays. But if there was an option to play on realms that don’t have all the CRZ and LFR bs I would absolutely transfer to that server and probably play A LOT more than I do at the moment. I don’ t see a reason to get rid of heirlooms though,if you want to level without them you can simply not use them.
14 years of upgrades that’s precisely what i said mate.
In fact instant group content would be far less toxic because it is certain the people you end up with will be on your realm-- so it still matters how you act.
It’s still not preferable because I think losing the actual travelling to the dungeon was important, but it’s not just CRZ or just LFR that has done so much damage, rather it is the combination of the two compounded by ultra fast gearing and ultra fast disposable everything.

So just so I understand what your asking for here.
You want servers that don’t have CRZ?
so that we don’t have or see players from servers outwith our battlegroup?
removes lfd/lfr and leaves in normal/heroic/mythic? so the only way to pug would be by getting to know the players on the realm and actually engage in conversation to some degree to go on a pug raid?

I don’t see why not…it’s like a new server with some restrictions. Seeing how Blizzard loves ristricring stuff, i’d say this will be a day worth of work for them to disable and remove things.
they want LFG to go completely. No more looking for groups. Just spam in chat and find people. Or ask guild members.
As if having 50 selling this and that junk in chat spams isn’t enough. We also need 100000 comments about this and that event included.
It’s not 2004 anymore. We got much more bosses and events and raids to do, with so many more players.
The classic experience you loved back in those days is gone and won’t come back.
The closest you can hope for will be the Vanilla which’ll arrive in a couple of months.
