I love my SV hunter and it must be the coolest class/spec in the game IMHO, but I feel very weak compared to other classes/specs.
Main problem is the fact I die in seconds anywhere near a cleave and my only self heal is a weak 30% each 90 seconds.
Another frustrating problem is the pet AI and fragility. If my pet dies I die too!
I like the fast paced style but I can’t understand why a spec called SURVIVAL hunter is so fragile and weak…
Someone has to be at the bottom.

I had a go with Survival the other week and boy did I not enjoy it. IMO survival was so tied to the artifact weapon for it’s identity in Legion they have struggled what to do with it since. I think it needs a complete rework.
Don’t get me wrong here! I like the fast paced hybrid play style of the SV hunter, but boy, this spec is feeling weak and fragile in every aspect of the game, weak damage, weak defensives, weak self heals, weak CC… I mean make us shine at least in one of the mentioned chapters since there are classes out there that have at least any of two in the mentioned list…
Survival should be dog because there’s already too many melee specs, so by making it garbage Blizzard rightfully keep people from playing it. Play the only real Hunter spec in Marksmanship and be happy, guy.
Sounds obvious to me, a class whose very definition is using a bow, gun or crossbow, fighting with a melee weapon. The spec should be killed right now.

There is a theory that survival is kept at the bottom by design so hunter players wouldn’t feel forced to play a melee spec. I personally have a theory that Blizzard is just really really bad at balancing their game.
Not true, just some things, like this ridiculous spec.
I love survival hunter aesthetics, I hate the fact that many people think hunter should be with a bow or a crossbow, no not always. Hunters can be with the spears too. (Unfortunately, spear throwing animations are not in game)
I really hope the devs will buff the spec.
As far as I know, Survival was an extremely unpopular spec since Legion, so I guess they don’t want to buff it for that reason.
I played Survival in Legion and it had a fairly fun rotation, but in BfA it became a terribly designed spec.
Survival just feels like a ranged spec with a forced melee gameplay. If Raptor Strike and Carve were replaced with Arcane Shot and Multi Shot you’d get people playing it more imo.
The only reason I play SV is because is a different kind of melee. The moment they change it back to ranged I quit playing this game.
Problem is that there are far too many melee specs in the game, and Survival doesn’t bring anything unique compared to them. It doesn’t even bring anything unique compared to BM or MM, and those two have the advantage of being ranged.
It’s a spec that was made melee just for the sake of it, and it shows.
If SV doesn’t bring something unique then I don’t know what will!
What does it bring that the other melee specs don’t?
Cool factor. Fast paced play style with 2h hybrid with a pet! Arms warrior was my favorite spec to play until they changed the SV this way. Now arms warrior feels slooow and boring when compared with the SV.
I have an ilvl 205 survival hunter. In pve he is a blast to play but he really shines when played in pvp. The amount of cool stuff you can do with harpoon and disengage and aspect of the eagle. It’s just pure fun.
Anyone who hates survival just haven’t given it a chance to truly appreciate its finesse.
