Orc can be mage (orc dumb as table)
Troll can be mage (trolls are little smarter but have 3 fingers - bad for reading books)
Worgen can be mage! (even in beast form lol how?)
and etc.
but Tauren and Highmountain cant be mages.
Blizzard why?

It’s just the way it is in the Warcraft world.
it has no sense. We have undead that can be holy light worshippers but we cant have cows that cast spells by no reason
It’s an heroic phantasy settting, it doesn’t make much sense anyway.
But if you want minotaurs-like creatures that can be mage, go and create your own phantasy setting.
Blizzard already ruined a lot of their lore with stupid class/race combination just for the sake of playerbase.
Yes. They already ruined. In cata, when they created Tauren-paladins. And when they added allied races.
So there are no reason why they cant add mage as playable class to tauren
Lore.
10 char
So yeah, let’s f it up even more ? What is this kind of reasoning ??
Would you want Gandalf to be a sith lord too ? Pay some respect to heroic phantasy bases please.
Or go buy skins on fortnite
i said facts in 1 st post. orc mages are total dumb decision too, but they are present in game. So why tauren cant be mages? I dont see any reason
If your house burn but not your garage, are you gonna put your garage on fire too ?
yes, this house burned when they added vulpera and handycapped gnomes
That’s where we disagree. Vulperas, orc mages, Tauren/trolls paladins and other shlts have nothing to do in the game, agreed.
But their presence isn’t a reason to ruin what’s left of the lore.
what tauren mage can ruin? orc mage are the same, undead priest are the same and etc. its less gambreaking thing then SL-retcons, or deleting /spit emote, or changing pictures and npc names
It’s not lore or anything, blizzard just doesn’t want mages to have any sort of Stun CC ever…not even a racial!
I guess you can argue with kultirans…but cmon, who wants to play a kultiran? Plus they have super long cd on their racial.
They can be priests which is sillier.
That’s kinda ironic because the very first “pvp” experience I had in the game was a rogue stunlocking me in vanilla and killing me before I had a chance to throw 1 spell.
It had actually made be roll a rogue for a year or two because I got the delusion they are the best class ever because of that.
I returned to mage later; what a silly thing to do; a game can never remain imbalanced forever.
Tauren are too spiritual in nature for the pursuit of the Arcane to be a valid direction for them to take. Unless they pull the ripcord altogether and give every race access to every class, Tauren should not be mages. It doesn’t suit them and is not something the race would have normally done. It’s not just about intelligence, but also about the race’s entire mindset and world view. As it stands, there’s nothing mage about Tauren and the pursuit of knowledge is not their thing.
Why can they be shadow priests though. I suspect the main excuse is they can be holy priests but still.
Disclaimer: I personally don’t mind if the lore/fantasy makes little sense because it’s a video game.
It’s pretty clear that in the case of priests, they allow the class even when either of the shadow/holy specs makes sense for the race. Both Lightforged Draenei and Void Elves (who’re very clearly drawn towards one side or the other) exist, so that is why a race that has nothing to do with shadow priests still has access to the class.
With Tauren Mages, on the other hand? None of the specs match them. Fire and Frost magics, as per lore, are all created by Arcane-based conjuration. It’s a direction that does not fit the Tauren race in any way, so it is not an option.
I wouldn’t mind it that much if they just decided to freely open up every single race-class combo without exceptions, but as long as there are any race-class restrictions still present, Tauren Mage should remain one since it’s one of the most sensible we have atm. Something like Night Elf paladins should have happened by now since we’re shown that they exist and it could be a more militiant form of Elune worship than being priests, but stuff like Tauren mage or Gnome druid has absolutely 0 grounding in the current lore.
I’m not that much into lore and while I heard of that arcane-foundation: I didn’t follow through on it so help me here. Are you saying that all mages are kinda “a bit evil”?
That’d be silly (for me) because I always thought of mages as “good” and warlocks “bad” but that’s a simplistic view I had based on their aesthetics since vanilla.
Not that they are evil, but it still takes a certain mindset to be a mage. The tendency to collect knowledge, to study the Arcane and to wield magic without any sort of spiritual connection need to be there. That does not fit the Tauren people’s nomadic and spiritual nature.
That aside, there’s the old piece of lore about the Laws of Arcane which states that Arcana is addictive, can corrupt, and it can draw demons towards its wielders.
