Why the hate?

It’s been years. Depending on what race you play, you may have heard it more or less than others, but most races introduced after Vanilla have heard something along the lines of “[Race] is not part of my [Faction]”.

One such example I still see nowadays with some frequency are Vulpera. It’s hard going a single month without seeing people call them ‘Rat’ or proclaim that “Vulpera are not part of the Horde” or something similar.

We get it. You idolize Garrosh and want the Horde to be nothing but angry green men and giant bulls going into war again and again because you really like the ‘War’ part of ‘Warcraft’. And that’s ok, you are free to enjoy that all you want. Noone’s there to stop you from enjoying yourself.

But can we stop bullying people because you can’t see more than ‘Overly cute fox person’? Where does that hate even come from? Did a wild animal steal your candy when you were little?

Not to mention most of the “new races” are actually older than the Vanilla races

Because they are. They are rats that have crawled and we should have done more than burn their caravans

Good thing they entered the horde.

I don’t hate Vulpera players and don’t think anything good or bad if I see one. But I still think the race was a stupid addition to the game and in extension to the Horde. It’s like if they added Hobbits out of nothing into the game. It feels like they a from a different genre game.

But obviously some people like them, which is fine.

whenever i play my horde friends and we see belf nightborne vulpera i initiate votekick. 50% of time it passes kek

A fox like race has been a part of wow for years now. Long before BFA. Lore wise they existed since the war of the ancients. Which technically makes it an old race.

People will always pick on others. Same with Gnomes on the Alliance. They have been considered the joke race since the game launched. Goblins and now Vulpera followed and Belf has always been the androgenous race and no one can tell the difference between a male and female.

Personally i couldn’t give a rats *ss about how people feel about certain races and i just play the ones i like.

Well that’s just a sad thing to do.

If you try to understand this on the internet, you’re gonna get institutionalised real soon.

Why do some humans hate anyone who is different? Race, culture, religion, likes and dislikes, gender, sexuality etc

It’s just human nature to hate people. Especially if they are insecure they hate things they don’t understand/are different.

Most people aren’t like that, but the ones who are are the loudest. Same for wow.

I do not think foxes are cute. They are a menace and they are taking over here in London suburbs.

Because childish and ignorant. Honestly, if they’re sat judging someone for the race they play in-game, it’s a pretty good indicator they’re probably racist IRL too.

Vulpera were a mistake. Horde should’ve gotten Sethrak instead, and left the Vulpera to rot in their desert.

I don’t think you’re quite ready to the answer to this question. :joy:

Vulpera are the typical furry character and many people hate furries with a passion.

Sometimes you can just not like a race and that’s fine. But calling them names all the time and going out of your way to insult the players who DO like that race is not needed.

I personally like vulpera. It’s the draenei that I hate more than any other race. And I do let that be known, but I don’t go insult every single draenei player because of that; because that’d be wrong. That’s acting like a fanatical racist just because you can because it’s a fantasy race.

People who belittle races they don’t like just have a major need to make sure that others know they are better than everyone else. It’s usually an insecurity issue. You can dislike a race, but if you start bashing it you generally have some personal issues you aren’t dealing so well with.

You should hate blood elves instead though, as these are high elves you wanted, but they were given to Horde, because they had no pretty races.
They though still could give high elves instead of void elves, but they just decided to mock Alliance and so void elves happened.

I never asked for high elves. I’m not an elf person, period. I dislike them in most fantasy settings. I liked the fierce primal night elves in WC3. What we got in WoW was not that.

I DO dislike that horde was given blood elves, but I don’t hate the race because of that.
I hate draenei because of how they look; I dislike their design very, very much. Their tendrils are disgusting to me, their hooves are icky, their horns are creepy, their tails are nasty as well. They’re a creepy race to me and I dislike them. Oh and their voices are irritating and their technology is just dumb and ugly (imo). :person_shrugging:t3:

If you like them; good on you.

There’s other races I don’t care for, but not outright hate; trolls (any kind), nightborne, mechagnomes, dracthyr. I wouldn’t play any of those.

Funny that the vulpera actually fits perfectly with the horde people wanted to play back in Vanilla.

Wasn’t until cataclysm/MoP and BFA where the writers desperately tried make it into the WC2 horde…

Before I reply, let me clarify I don’t care what others play. They can play Pikachu or Ronald McDonald. I don’t care. In fact I think the time, I cared is long gone by now.

However I think this friction is mainly Blizzards fault and their obsession to balance the Horde population.
I don’t care for faction balance.
The Horde had less players during Vanilla period and I was perfectly happy with that.
In fact it was kind of fun trying to make a more humanoid race.
The Forsaken was because of this aspect the most played race on the Horde.
Basically they were dead Humans.

Let’s analyse the races that were introduced on the Horde since the very first expansion:

Blood Elves
Goblins
Pandaren
Nightborne
Highmountain Tauren
Mag’Har Orcs
Zandalari Trolls
Vulpera
Dracthyr

Blood Elves are basically High Elves with green eyes.
They are a civilized, beautiful race, very close to human appearance, in fact the 3 Windrunner sisters are married/in a relationship with Humans, even if one of them is a undead.
This race fits the Alliance perfectly. In fact had they been given to the Alliance in TBC, there was no need to introduce Void Elves in BFA.
The very same reasoning can be applied to the Nightborne. They are basically the NEs allied race.

Pandaren are civilized, peaceful, wise, funny people. Again another good match for the Alliance.
Vulpera fall in to the same category, with the bonus that they are cute, charming, lovely.

Dracthyr fall in to the same category as the Pandaren in my opinion. They should be given to only one Faction. Horde or Alliance.

Of course every race is welcomed to the Horde. Thrall said himself in Vanilla:
“All members of the Horde are equal in my eyes, (player name).
We have suffered many burdens, and if it were not for wisdom and honor, then we would no better than the scourge or my people while our blood was tainted by the demon Mannoroth.
It is your duty to aid the Horde and to defend our way of life.
But it is also your duty to know when quarter and compassion should be given to friend and foe alike.
Understand this well.
This is the new Horde, not some demon-sapwned army who lack free will.”

However, Blizzard writers made abundantly clear during every single faction conflict, who was at fault: the Horde.

Any reasoning falls flat on the ground considering that Garrosh and his followers were turned in Raid bosses during MoP.
Sylvanas was also a Raid boss during SL.

The results of villain batting the Horde are:

  • Theramore: destroyed by a mana bomb.
Probably the inspiration for this event can be associated with a weapon of mass destruction: nuclear bomb.

  • Novel War Crimes, written by Christie Golden. Clearly inspired in the trials of Nuremberg after WW2 ended.

  • Burning of Teldrassil. Can be associated to many sad moments in human history. Particularly what happened in the Eastern Front during WW2.

  • Siege of Undercity, the use of blight to kill Alliance troops can be related to WW1 chemical warfare. Also disregard for friendly fire, killing their own troops in the process.

Now let’s associate said actions with the races, I mentioned above.
For me, it simply doesn’t make sense.
Heck even Baine and his Tauren wouldn’t make sense, in this events.

Is it any surprise people consider the Horde a Warmongering, brutal faction in both sides ?
That some races don’t make sense joining this faction given their track record ?

Cheers.
