Why you should bid on auctions!

This is mostly for people that want to anger the **** out of 1 stack posters.

The auction house in classic sorts the stuff with lowest bid!

So people post auctions of One with 1 copper bid and 1s or g or whatever as buyout.

The reason: Some people don’t use addons or get sick of going through the pages or just don’t know better and buy the overpriced stuff they listed.

Now, how do you piss these people off?

You bid!

Why do they cancel their auctions when you bid?

Because they lose this first place on the pages, and no one buys their stuff :joy:

You might get lucky and they forget to cancel and get some cheap stuff too

Can imagine people don’t because generally when you’re looking to buy something on the AH its usually something you need there and then.

You do realize that all those 1piece per stacks auctions are there from addon users right? And that those addons auto adjust your prices to undercut lowest price by 1copper, on bid and buyout too.
So if u manage to find a lot of 1 pice stacks with 1 copper bit, its either some1 who is new, or some unlucky boy without addon… But not much of those items in general

Yes but these undercuts don’t ensure you, to be listed as first person. And they don’t need to undercut buyout, bc they want more than the general buyout is for this item.

I agree with the original poster. Let’s behave in the AH in a way that makes these sellers to cancel their auctions. You don’t lose anything (assuming the auction is cancelled and you actually want the item at the price you bidded, in case it isn’t). If enough people do it, their losses will force them to re-think their strategy.

The default AH behavior is to raise the bid just slightly. However, do you really think you’ll ever be able to buy a stack of Silk Cloth for 5s when it vendors for 30s? So what I did last night was to place 25s and 30s bids on many of these stacks. I didn’t win any bids, but I chose auctions that were going to end by the time I played the next time, so I just got my gold back from the mailbox.

I use Auctionator and the sheer volume of listings for some items is a problem when trying to buy a stack when it’s busy. The default UI isn’t actually all that bad for placing the bids I did last night, but it’s not effective for finding inexpensive materials when you want something crafted immediately.

This is a pretty good idea. I like it, and your post now has the

Every night before logging off and go to bed, I check the AH on about any decent value item’s and sort on time left. The short time left ones with those way to low bid and high buyout, I put a low bid on, big chance the seller is sleeping already.

Log back in the morning and usually have a few items grabbed for very low, and put them back on AH

The stock AH UI is only bareably usable when you type in exact item name.

When you just want to buy some linen for example, and theres ufcking 10 pages of 1-stacks of it before you reach the full stacks. Please, not everyone wants to use every damn addon.

I always set up bid price at 1 copper when i put something with 10 stack or 20 stack so my auction is listed in first and i f*** all people who spam AH with 1 stack. And people are really happy to see my auction first with full stack and buy them.

I put a reminder, so 1 hours before the auction, if it’s not sell (that happen very rarely), i cancel the auction because there’s little guy that try to bid in 2019 LUL.

I totally agree with OP, I up all 1c bids to 1s
The ones that forget to cancel are really nice too
1s stacks of iron ore ayyyy

From my exp the AH isnt even case sensitive, and from what i remember from way back when it was.

If you use default AH UI then sort the bid with highest to lowest, that way you have less pages to turn when looking those bigger stacks.

That’s Just too bad for you then. Almost everything i post with TSM4 is flying off the shelves.

I’m confused to this day that you can still cancel auctions that have been bid on though. Makes it difficult to punish those 1stack posters

Yeah it would be interesting, if you cant cancel at all. Would be actually nice.
