Will we ever get big fat continents on Azeroth?

I wish a new expansion would introduce a massive piece of land, the size of Kalimdor, instead of some remote islands or a completely new world disconnected from everything - like Shadowlands and Draenor.

I like immersive, cosy, normal-looking areas like Arathi Highlands and Redridge mountains.

Maybe that’s just me though.

There is nothing left on Azeroth to explore and Draenor was released twice in fact (Outland) ; Simply there is no more content to create unless they release alternative timeline Argus or something ;

I wish that too. I remember looking at the leather map of Hyboria, from Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, and imagined what if the world looked like that 12.000 years ago. Once I saw a documentary on National Geographic, saying that in the past, the Earth was one single giant piece of land, seven times in history, and one was called by scientists, Pangaea. Surely, the Norse people, with Midgard, Robert E. Howard with Hyboria, and Tolkien with Middle Earth, got inspiration from real history of Earth.

Weeaboo time.

I wish we had something in WoW that’d be similar to what Hunter x Hunter did with the Dark continent.
Basically, in the manga, it’s as if the entirety of what we know of Azeroth (Kalimdor, Eastern Kingdoms, Northrend, Pandaria…) were all tiny islands in a massive lake, and the “real world” is everything that surrounds that lake.

It looks like this:

This leaves sooo much room for exploration and future expansions. They could be so creative with that. And we’d still be on Azeroth, just exploring more of our world.
Really wish this was a thing.

I’d love a zone where every view around me isn’t blocked by a huge tree, hill or a mountain.

I’m certain that there is the other side of the planet yet to explore? Beyond the Veiled and Forbidding Seas.

I’m sure there is lore about ships sailing off to explore, but they never returned.

Also, as far as I recall, in the cinematic where Sargeras stabs Azeroth, the currently chartered areas only take up a quarter of the planet and the rest is misted out.

Might be wrong, bad memory!

We had a big one
The Night Elves broke it
Thats why we can’t have nice things
And by the way, the Orcs had a big nice supercontinent back on Draenor and they broke the whole planet!!!
Our elves just ruined a conintent…
You are not preapred for a bigger piece of land, greenskin!

Azeroth was like that too, one continent. Until Azshara with her demon obsession ruined everything

I would like to see what Azeroth looked like from the beginning, go back in the past. See how it was before it broke off, before everything. Kind of like how the Emerald dream is based on Azeroth un-touched.

We have planetary depictions of Azeroth. It’s not possible.

They come from Ulduar. As most of the titans creations. They don’t have a home world.

I did got disappointed when i found out we get small islands as zones, but they never really feel as small as they look like in the map, i guess is because there is always something to do or a secret to find makes the zone feel big.

Compare that to the maw, i still think the maw is big for no reason, there is basically nothing a side from mobs, the zone is the same everywhere and only got an occasional rare to kill there, there is no secret places or treasures, no complex structure to explore, nothing! just flat plain area of mobs with rares.

As i’m convinced by the lore from Legion and Bfa we will have another Space expansion. It would so cool to have a planet sized expansion elsewhere in the universe. Maybe the new home of the Ethereals ?

Everything is possible with the power of retcon.

Ye sure. That worked out so well the last time.

Afaik there are so many places we can still go to in terms of content that there is no need to do that. Including other planets.

so do I
The Shadowlands should represent the afterlives of all the universe
Now, take ours for example!
Nearly 150,000 people die each day around the world, according to 2017 data.
Our galaxy is filled with potentially habitable planets – at least 300 million of them, according to NASA.
Hubble reveals an estimated 100 billion galaxies in the universe or so, but this number is likely to increase to about 200 billion as telescope technology in space improves… lets be generous, and count 150 billion, why not?
Thats then 150 billion (or 100, if you are not generous) x 300 million x 150000 death
Per day
In our universe
Now, the Warcraft universe maybe smaller and the Burning legion destroyed a portion of it… but even if you take the 1% of the number of death of our universe/day… even thats hell of a lot of souls!
In a few floating little islands…
Mostly this is why the whole plot of Sylvanas fanning the flames of war on Azeroth and indeed the whole plot of the SL is a joke…
Drops in an ocean…

You do realize that these 4 zones aren’t the whole shadowlands right? Not to mention the zones being downsized in general.

Lots of people thought the other side of Azeroth was Ny’alotha since there is lore about ships going to that side and never returning, well now that Ny’alotha is not there, it gives room for so much stuff to be put.

Also when you look at Azeroth from Argus, you can see that there is other side of Azeroth completely unexplored.

Yes, but the most prominent ones
Like Revendreth for the last chance before the Maw , for prideful or have some other flaw preventing them from serving in or going to one of the other realms
Bastion for the servitors, who will get a factory reset to help ferry the souls of the universe to Oribos for judgement
Maldraxxus for the relentless, warlike souls who never yield and are willing to strive against one another for greatness and will forme the Army that suposed to protect the WHOLE Shadowlands
And Ardenweald for the rest and hibernation, for mortal souls who shared a close bond with the natural cycle, place of rebirth…
Now even if you downsize it, these are should be huge…
In my humble oppinion, Blizz wanted to show something great, but it falls apart if you look closer
A bit like in any Star Wars game; you know Coruscant is a planet sized city, but if you are lucky , you could see a few blocks
Except these little islands are suposed to represent the whole of that realm… and very underpopulated

Zones can’t be too big or else people will look at the zones as a bore. Especially without flying.

Also that revendreth is the way it is is to be expected given their numbers in general are very low because after a soul has atoned they either become venthyr if they want or get yeeted out of revendreth.

ahah I agree that those islands are too small but in WoW things work a bit different than real world.
Their universe is not our universe, Shadowlands we see is Azeroth only, you never see any other race a side from the ones who serve the shadowlands.
Also in wow shadowlands must be a very small place because mortality is a thing created by nzoth, dying wasn’t a thing so i figure that someone(titan or something) created the shadowlands to deal with this problem.
Also their universe is mostly immortal beings, so you can see that real world logic is not good idea.
