Currently, I have a rule-of-thumb; if the mob has mana, it will cast. Casts hurt. We should at least notice their casts, and anything with “Volley” (or alike) in it has the absolute highest priority.
That’s what I’m saying and I guess I didn’t clarify well enough in OP, When a boss casts something deadly it’s quite clear but when a trash mob in the 10 mobs the tank pulled starts casting there’s usually nothing to distinguish that it’s a priority.
I think the only 2 addons that I almost view as required to play the game for tanks are Plater with a good profile, and a boss mod like DBM. I don’t really use Weakauras, etc. I have it installed, but I don’t really have any weakauras on it. I mostly just look at my buffs and my action bar with peripheral vision. The issue I think of having a weakaura in the middle is that it distracts from what is happening outside of your personal gameplay.
All addons shall be banned from WoW.
We strayed way too far from vanilla gameplay…
Sure thing, but I do not think that Blizzard has the balls to redesign the game again from the ground up after over 19 years of it depending on addons to fill the gaps in their UI.
They would need to simplify rotations and make fights much easier to make up for people not having a way to see how much damage/healing they did.
I think that is called FF14
You mean where delves were broken for solo players? where mobs had less health in a party and where Brann soloed content…
Tanks can clear with lower gear dps can’t most classes can’t…
There is no such thing as hard content in wow… more damage more hp isn’t hard its tedious.
Also the playerbase as a whole doesn’t want “hard” content before LFR less than 10% raided… its not the type of game for that and most ppl don’t even beat the games they buy never mind play hardmode.
Most of the QQing on this board is about M+ not really a solo issue huh.
To be fair they have included what used to be add’s on as standard now… Sorry but for the bolded part. Other than recount I don’t use add ons and can top charts lol… Addons just condition the player to be lazy and wait for prompts…
I actually think Blizzard is doing a really good job with encounter readability right now. For almost any boss, I can simply turn up see what happens, and play it. There are a as few exceptions such as pre-splitting and things like that, but these are things you can intuitively discover after only a few wipes.
I do use DBM because the raid leader wants me to, but I actually think I could do without.
Classes though? Total mess. Absolutely ridiculous and never been worse.
They are starting to add these proc notifications now, but they’re way behind schedule and not complete enough. It’s unacceptable.
read a guide, keep the minion names in mind? ask friends for tactics, playing weak aura free since I started the game in wotlk xD
I can manage quite well without as well, on my healer I healed loads of dungeons and raids without, by knowing the mobs / bosses, what to expect. If you know the boss e.g. and you /focus (never enter a place without my /focus macro ) , then it comes down to your own knowledge.
I’m guessing you didn’t read the OP…
It was but that’s a one off challenge, not something you can farm for gear as a main content like M+. Also, my prophecy came true because while the Delves took massive nerfs recently, mere hours after my post they nerfed the Zekvir encounter too, which was a Mage Tower like one-off encounter.
Why? Because people with ilvl610 in a season that goes up to 639 complained it was impossible, or almost impossible.
Delves were broken easy for groups but they were fine for solo. Prior to all the massive delve nerfs I solo’d a T8 at ilvl565 and between the 3 Warrior specs Prot wasn’t easier because everything did near one-shot damage to tank specs, you had to LOS casts, use every utility, kite etc. It was somewhat more doable as dps spec, though it depended on the delve/pull
Many things in delves that I was able to survive in much worse gear got nerfed to like 1/5 of their original values, to the extent that it went from a real hard challenge offering comparable loot, to something I could do with my eyes closed. I did a T8 delve on Enhancement Shaman and I don’t even know how to play the class, with sub 570 gear again, not because I’m good at the game this time but because they nerfed Delves enough that I can just autopilot it on a class I can’t play.
Just use common sense and trial and error, practice makes perfect and i have never used weak auras in my life. You are perfectly capable of doing things without addons holding your hand. Try it some time you will be surprised by what your brain reflexes help you out with.
Congratulations, you play a Frost DK, one of the only specs left with an easy rotation.
and they have not made added any native support to move those proc notifications around.
I am not sure that the endgame of WoW would have ever been as important if not for the addons
There are several procs coded in that cannot activate because the ability has been removed from the game or the ID is wrong after changes.
Frost mages have no display for Glacial Spike. We’re supposed to look above our heads I think, but there is too much visual noise for that to work. Until recently you couldn’t tell if you had Firemind. There was no visual, no sound, and no proc display. It just appeared silently - and the worst part is it required the specific action of hardcasting a Pyroblast to use, something you ordinarily avoid at all costs, and it’s a 225% damage boost.
Sure, they’re fixing these now some 3 years after they were added, but they’re adding more still and not fixing them. For example I don’t think the Sunfury proc has been added for Arcane, nor has the set bonus, both of which provide procs that change your next set of actions.
Default UI is not usable.
Small indie company T_T
I do find it weird that they add UI optimization but they don’t have an option to highlight some buffs.
And not only that, but they fill our buff frames with junk. I go into combat and do my rotation for 10 seconds, 12 new buffs on me and anther 5 on my target.
And then there’s all the buffs that apply to literally every player as the same time. Gotta love being informed about time-walking on my buff display. Heck yes!
But it’s ok, I can just use addon’s to filter them!
Oh wait, now Blizzard force hides some that are really important in raids.
I’m gonna lose it.
I did? xD still, that’s what I do
The only way Blizzard could fully remove addons would be to create a WoW 2 without the functionality. They would lose a lot of players if they suddenly did that with WoW as it stands currently.
