WoD Classic and why it will happen

I don’t know how I would feel about WoD classic.

Blizz already ruined PvP by such a large degree with their “dampening/mortal strike” mechanics ontop with the queue system being insanely bad. I think the first time they did this was in SoD, and I can’t remember people enjoying SoD dampening/MS effects.
People would rather have targetted nerfs towards classes/specs than blanket nerfs to good and bad specs at the same time. The classes that were OP were still OP, the classes that were bad were still bad or even worse unplayable. Same applies to MoP, generally ranged players are better off being played than melee which is a gross imbalance.
OG MoP PvP was insanely fun and it was taken from us.

The raids in WoD look super fun but my concerns would lie with 10man vs 25man balancing. This is like the third expansion in a row where the balancing is just completely off in regards of:

  1. needing close to perfect comp on 10s that covers all buffs/debuffs
    This makes certain classes that don’t bring a lot to the table basically unviable bar the cases where the player can play it as an OS if MS isn’t needed. Brewmaster/Mistweavers are generally more required in 10s than WW would ever, people would play WW if theres a 1tank fight fitting their MT better than duo tanking it.
    On 25man even suboptimal comps have a chance of clearing and it is generally more fun overall.

  2. damage from mechanics/healing required differences
    Oh boy blizzard just ignored this entirely from the gut feeling of getting utterly hammered by bosses the same way you would get hammered on 25man. To give context that the first bosses of ToES on HC have mechanics that deal the exact same damage if not done proper.
    Examples being Lightning Prison and Touch of Sha from Protectors. I took these values from the best executed mechanics (which shows how little damage the raid took in that encounter) and seen these numbers:
    a. Lightning Prison does
    114k damage per tick on 25m HC unmitigated
    114k damage per tick on 10m HC unmitigated
    It’s harder to deal with it on 10m aswell due to both healers needing to dispel it rather than having 5 healers being ready to dispel the debuff.
    b. Touch of Sha does
    120k unmitigated per 3s on 25m HC
    120k unmitigated per 3s on 10m HC
    Same damage with less healers being able to give raid attention and also less raid CDs to deal with that damage. Badly balanced considering its AOE damage.

  3. loot differences
    2 drops from a 10m HC boss vs 6-7 (not entirely sure) on 25m HC with drops being able to duplicate, loot is generally more disenchanted on 10man than 25m aswell due to less people on that armorclass+primarystat combo.

PvE class balancing, I’m very glad I skipped cataclysm and bewildered by how bad the DPS class balancing is still in MoP. I’ve said it before and will keep mentioning but:
WW Monks are one of the specs/class to play in a raid from a DPS standpoint whilst having a mono DPS spec, the other is SPriest.
This is WW Monk rankings posted 2d ago on a 95% percentile:
”Not very strong in ST is understating the issue:

  • Top 5 Bottom on Zorlok

  • Tied at the bottom with arms warrior on Tayak

  • Bottom 3 with Feral and Fury (both have DPS spec alternatives) on Wind Lord, thats a multi cleave/aoe fight BTW.

  • Bottom 3 with both warrior specs on Amber Shaper, Warriors at least scale, WW doesn’t.

  • 7th from the bottom on Empress, SP is very bottom and inbetween WW and SP those classes have ALTERNATIVE DPS SPECS.

  • bottom 4 on protectors, both shaman specs are below alongside survhunter

  • bottom 5 on tsulong, balance, SP and shaman specs are worse
    - Lei Shi is like the only fight that is worth a talk when it comes to WW monk and is by far WW best fight in HoF/ToES

  • SoF barely above middle of the pack.

If it wasn’t for Lei Shi and SoF, WW monks wouldn’t be in raids and would be playing BM/MW all the time in these two raids. MSV isn’t looking much better either.

In total there are 2 fights worth talking about a good placement for WW monk:
Will of Emp + Stone Guard, every other fight WW represent bottom or top 3 bottom.
For a class that has a single DPS spec and no alternative WW should pack more of a punch in the literal sense. Overall there are like 25% of the tier where a WW monk has value, other 75% you might aswell take another rogue or smth instead of running a WW.”

Unless Blizzard gets some people to actively listen and work towards changing PvE DPS/Heal/Tank rankings, removing the bad mechanics in PvP+change queue system and balance 10m/25m proper, I wouldn’t want WoD Classic.
Edit: Oh and bugfixing would be great too, especially old content. I bet I could go back to AQ40 and get all my spec stripped down to the class only on Skeram, removing procs to do anything.
Edit2: Hopefully GDKP bans are coming soon, would be a more enjoyable game overall, SoD was basically better because of it.
