I’ve played Wow since forever, and i have never used a private world chat. I just use the official channels and it works out just fine for me. I suppose it’s a culture that came over from the p-servers?
Giving players that much power to control a servers economy sounds really bloody wrong imho. But it’s a player made problem, can’t see what blizz can do about it. If they shut down a private channel or opened it up, the roar from the angry mob/playerbase would be deafening.

After reading your post i something came to my mind. This guild is an absolute genius guild. By messing with the world and other big public chat channels among other actions they are frustrating people into either quitting the game or transfering to a different server. These actions are active population control on Shazzrah. They want to get rid of players to allow the removal of layers and minimising ques. Absolute 200 IQ move right there. I support it!
