World MS 1000+ - Unplayable Game

Your country: Sweden
Your ISP: Bahnhof
The name of your server : Retail : Twisting Nether, Sod : Living Flame.
This issue usually occurs after 19.00 CET. Chat in game works, Discord is not disconnecting, spotify is running and Twitch is running. Happens only when I play WoW.

This issue started eight days ago for me

UK
Youfibre Gigabit connection
EU Draenor
Version retail (DF)
When and how : Loading between zones usually by hearthing.

After around 15-20 mins playing, If I hearth or join a dungeon or raid, the loading screen takes over 2-3 minutes, before it was usually less than 3-5 seconds, if it doesn’t send me to login screen with an error message, (WOW51900319) I am left in what is best described as a non populated sandbox, when this occurs I have over 16k latency, but its obviously in error, as everything shows fine on websites, tracerts, ping tests, speed tests etc.
I can summon a mount, but can’t fly, I am not mounted, but mount model is attached to head, so I’m walking around with a dragon attached to my head, can’t fly, can’t dismount.
Originally when this occured, npc’s would not react to me any in way, I could literally go anywhere, and it was like god mode, zero damage taken, but couldn’t do anything, no attack abilities etc.
Now, there are no npc’s anywhere, it’s a ghost town, and nothing accessible.

What I have trierd to fix this:
Contacted ISP, they say no issues, checked router logs, no down times, no latency showing in logs or app.
Disabled all addons, no difference.
updated and re-installed all add-ons (just in case) - no difference.
Tried Repairing install - no errors found - no difference.
uninstalled game, re-installed to another SSD - no difference.

This is the only online game I have any issues like this, all others are fine.

EDIT:

Just had a small update of around 277mb, it seems to have fixed the issue for me, I could trigger the bug to happen by hearthing or zoning, now I cannot trigger it at all!
Here is hoping it is fixed because eight days of this was depressing.

Quick update: I logged in just now, 1 AM server time and the latency is way much better, i have 299 home and 293 world from over 4k-5k
Lets see how much this will stay for.

Second update: 2 AM server time and latency skyrocket to 6711 WORLD MS !!!

Third update : 4 AM server time and MS is 9294 World

There was a small update this morning after which things have slightly improved. The World MS is not as high as before and more important it’s stable. It’s still between 400 and 700ms but at least the game is somewhat playable right now.

Yes, it worked for about 30 minutes being on a ping between 300 and 400 (still playable), then it went 500+ up to 1400+, and now it’s unplayable again.

Yeah, back to 1500 world ms

Now I’m stuck on Connecting on the loading screen, I can’t even get into the game. :frowning:

Update: the game is still unplayable. I just installed the small update and logged in to 2k MS World.

Hi,

Country: Singapore
ISP: Myrepublic
Server: Crusader Strike (EU)
Version: SOD
When and how: Since last Friday. MS was ranging from 500 to 20k.

@Blizzard, @Yryadorne,

Can we expect a solution or a sign from you before the release of S4 in few hours ? I need to keep my team updated whether I will be able to fulfill my role or no.

Thanks

I think what Mude said about the underwater cables might be true. I tried using a VPN and I can get stable 320ms to both Home and World. Probably the route being used is different. A bit higher that my usual 230 but at least the game is playable.

I am not very knowledgeable on the matter. But most games / software would also fail if it was an underwater cables issue ? Here the issue is very specific to World of Warcraft. All my other games / software works perfectly fine. And I play on EU servers on those games also.

Hey all,

Thank you for posting the requested information so far.

From what we’re seeing, this seems to mainly affect some players in a specific region since Friday, and we’ve let our engineers know about this.

Could you please post a traceroute (on your normal connection / without VPN, when you’re experiencing this issue) now please?

Please do also contact your ISPs as well to let them know about this issue so that they may investigate on their end.

Your connection to a specific point (i.e. our games) will take different routes, and if some nodes on a route are having issues, you could experience higher latency (and be fine when playing on another game / server because the route will be different).

This is usually something that is outside of our scope of support since we’re only in charge of our servers (and have no control on the routes used by your ISP). A VPN can change the route used by your connection and avoid the problematic route.

You can test your connection and these routes with a Pathping or using PingPlotter, for example.

These are the EXACT issues I’ve been having too, and I’m also in the UK and with YouFibre. Started 8 days ago for me as well. I was told there were no specific issues on their end but they did update something to do with their IP addresses last Monday, so that could potentially be the cause of the issues. I was asked to contact Blizzard support to inform them about this but I, of course, just got the default response from them and to ‘ask the forums’
 :upside_down_face:

Fingers crossed when I log in after work tonight that the issues are resolved for me too, because I’m at my wits end now.

I had a glorious session after that update, no lag, no dropping sync, no DC’s, everything was as it should be, zone swap load times back to around 5 seconds, no ghost town hearths.
I’m hoping it continues, because eight days was far too long, and too many people were having the issue for blizzard not to know there was a problem.

I am using a VPN now. Tested various servers and it can get better ping sometimes but it’s still unplayable. I don’t believe the issue is related to this since I have anormal high ping on any route using VPN and I never had before. Something happened and the probability is extremely high that it is on Blizzard side. Could it be related to the launch of TWW alpha ?

It’s also worth mentioning again that Battle.net is very slow, way slower than usual.
