World of Warcraft game director details which combat add-ons are safe and which will be eliminated in the coming purge

I’m still trying to figure out since when we have this problem, i think it started with Shadowlands/late shadowlands or?

because in Legion and Bfa it felt fine to play without these Addons/Weak auras, and now it´s mandatory to take this (if u wanna play competitive)

these two Addons are my absolute favorite ones, especially the stun tracker, but i have to say, people also Underrestimate how Overpowert these Addons are, and making the Game even more scripted and also lead to “never” ending/long games, because everyone can execute the cc setup perfectly

I can’t remember needing them in Legion either. We did use one addon to coordinate our group on Eonar Mythic but you could manage without.

Not legion but WoD. Archimonde Mythic says hi for both the beams and the chains. They disabled the radar when Legion launched. This isnt a new issue. And that Blizzard is talking out of their behinds still was proven with Fyrakk.

cba reading all that

are they banning WeakAuras completely or not? just tell me that, thx

Sounds about right. It’s so long ago I barely remember now.

hot take.

we shouldnt need Addons.
we shouldnt WANT addons.
we shouldnt expect addons

any other Triple A game out there would not let you download addons ( mods)

small indie games do or games close to its end of licence /life ( old AAA games , like gta 5 )

they should ban all addons, and build the game better.

I take it you haven’t yet heard about the one-button rotation option Blizzard are adding? :stuck_out_tongue:

I use weak aura to track my defensive’s uptime on my tank, if they remove that the game becomes a lot harder, its not like i can see 2-3 buffs uptime thru 10-20 buffs

Tracking those defensive’s makes it easier to focus on dps and interrupts and off healing as well.

It’s in the cooldown manager in the game too, which you can edit in the Blizzard UI editor

Ugh rather use weak auras for that, if cooldown manager can do the same cool but no reason to take it away from weak auras then.

I noticed they put “Details” same addon in game too. Gosh.

Of course but that is just looking at what ability to press and pressing it even under the wrong circumstances. That is what makes rotation helpers weak, they only know your class.
The rotation helper doesn’t know who you’re fighting, where you are fighting and when you are fighting.
But importing a Plater addon profile that tells you which mobs to interrupt, when to pop a defensive and when you have to walk left or right, that is overkill in my opinion.
Literally just implement an addon then that’ll tell you exactly how to play the game, no learning needed.

Just cancelled my subscription.
I’ve already suffered too long playing healer. Without addons it’s just not the game I want to play.

So only mythic fights.

Show me a video of you progressing Echo of neltharion or ovinax mythic without their respective weakaura.
Stop talking about content you have no clue about. Those fights were impossible for most guilds without addons.
Even Max admitted that ovinax without addons would be hilariously difficult to progress, and that’s coming from the best guild in the world. He admitted that jailer mythic would be straight up impossible even for world first raider.

That’s fine. The cooldown manager is not here to replace addons. It’s here to further the goal that people with addons and people without addons see the same information.

Sure, with Addons you can customize it more so you it’s more optimal, but it still should have the same functionality as the game itself

99% of games doesn’t have addons and people play them just fine.

What is with this WoW can not to function without addons nonsense obsession?

To many things happening at same time, so addons where created to help tracking what happens, they have allowed it for years and now they change it ? wait couple of years and they go back on decision, they always do.

If they restrict addons, presumably, those encounters of the future will be designed accordingly.
