No I am not exaggerating, I have had enough of having people leave mythic + dungeons right before the last boss because we wiped once or twice, I have had enough of people being kicked from raids or dungeons cause of being afk for maybe 2 minutes because they dropped their drink or needed to get the phone, I have had enough of LFR and I have had enough of people just acting like really arrogant dicks when this is supposed to be a game about community. Some things really need to change with the way dungeons and raids work when it comes to the group finding. I have never felt more un-welcomed in a video game, even league of legends felt warmer. (Been playing since TBC so I clearly remember the release of the dungeon finder in wrath).
Agreed. The wow community is pretty bad. The problem is, it’s mostly children who think they’re hot sh*t because they have a high item level in a video game. Pathetic, really. Guild Wars 2’s community is much better.
That’s not toxic. That’s just people being butts. Toxic behavior is much worse than what you describe. However you’re not wrong about how unfriendly the game community has become. I’m at the point now where I don’t even enjoy group content anymore and I’m probably going to leave the game behind because without taking part in group content there really isn’t much point in playing.
Maybe inform the raid before going afk ? ( and won’t be afk for 10 minutes) Or maybe learn the dungeon first before joining m+ ? ( so you won’t wipe) No one has to right to waste anothers time. People who pug already cleared the content before and don’t want to spend hours in there just join a guild if you don’t want to speedrun things.
I am aware your post will take lots of likes and i will receive lots of hate but thats the reality.
Fun fact: This is exactly the sort of mentality that made the community go to heck.
“No one has the right to waste another’s time” are you frigging serious? You’re a joke of a person.
People have been trained to be bad by game design (wellfare epics, epics for everyone!) and there’s no consequences to bad actions due to server mixing. No accountability, and the whole game is redesigned for non interaction.
This is what you get.
I wonder if I should come out of retirement and apply for overall game designer here. I know I can do a better job if I get final say.
I am the one who is toxic now because i’m talking about the truth. You always have the option to join a guild which is sharing same pow as you to do things together. Don’t expect people to tolarete you in completely random groups.
Multiple solutions to this exist, whether or not they put them into the game remains to be seen. You can always check LFG for other groups and join groups again. But yeah I agree, this is a growing problem.
As nice as it is to think this may be the reason they go AFK, you don’t know that for certain. Unless someone says why they’ve gone AFK, it’s an automatic response to think they’re just trying to get an easy kill or free loot. The fact people give them 2 minutes or so to speak up to explain, is pretty good.
It’s like real life friend, people don’t always play nice. Report those who are in breach of the code of conduct and move on and enjoy the game. It’s the only thing you can do. Thick skin.
It’s in most game communities from what I’ve seen.
“Get good or get out” is a common attitude.
People are almost treating video games as some sort of “job” where you have to achieve things in the most efficient and rewarding way possible or else it’s time wasted.
Seems like an awful way to spend your free time when you can’t have fun without pushing yourself to get the most out of it. If they have fun at all doing it.
Your response is toxic, a personal attack. His wasn’t. Yet he’s the problem?
You played pre LFG tool. You enjoyed that. You do not like the LFG tool nor the people you end up playing with when using the tool.
Here is my advice: Do not use the tool. It is still very much possible to communicate with players and to form groups the old way.
If you do enjoy tea, not red bull, you’ll probably find that instead of drinking red bull and being pissed off at the world for red bull it’s better to just drink tea.
A lot of interesting responses and views, and ok maybe the afk example wasnt the best one as I was more trying to refer to how replaceable group members are now because of group finder, yes it is convenient being able to find the perfect group with the highest dps output but I kinda miss having to learn things or figure things out with your team, not just replace somebody because you know they aren’t ideal for your expectations or maybe they messed up once. As for the other stuff, I stay solid. M+ is just a pain with people coming in only wanting a fast and smooth run where they get carried by really good tanks or healers and if something goes wrong, they just quit and waste everybody’s time.
I noticed the change to worse begun when dungeonfinder was introduced and after that. Cross real stuff.
Too much stuff that eases people getting to content without need to communicate and no way to moderate behaviour and people because realms aint closed communities anymore.
It is hard to fix this anymorem sibce the tools are there and they are most likely not going away. Perphaps they could remove connected realms and xreal zones. Merge realms that are really small and so forth.
Though i think RP realms should not be merged at all. They still have their own litle culture and community to at least some length.
Just play m+ with the right group of friends. You’ll fail and learn together.
You are a horrible human being.
Every gaming community has bad eggs in it, and in my experience they are all as bad as each other.
Today i opened the group finder to find a hc uldir for offspec gear and i was disgusted by the current ilvl requirements
next raid isn’t open yet and they require higher ilvl than the instance base ilvl (AND curve, AND “checking rio”)
i meet the “requirements” but it just hit me really bad! i just went to do solo old content instead
I tried to help a friend do a few low keys on a freshly dinged character. It’s hell. People don’t know what to do. Then when you try to explain what went wrong and people get argumentative or insulting, people start leaving. It has been harder doing a +2 with randoms than it is to do a +10 with guildies.
Another key, a tank started the key pulled a pack and then logged out. So as we can’t replace anyone, we had to give up.
Pugging can just be horrendous sometimes.
i wanted to farm +2 AD on a fresh 120
3 times, 3 different groups someone left ,groups disbanded, i managed to do on the 4th try (i was planning to “farm” it, rest assured i did not farmed it)
next week, same instance, i join a +7 with one of my healers and when we finished one guy links a +10, we did the 10 too
that 10 with the random dudes made the +2s of the last week seem like 20
There is hope!!!
