This exactly describes the issues I’m seeing as well.
Still happens. The change from gxAPI to MTL_Legacy worked for a little while but now it’s down bad again. Can’t do dungeons, big cities or anything where a lot of people are gathered. Raids are straight out just impossible.
I came to the conclusion to cancel my subscription for now. It’s simply just unplayable.
Reproducable: Approach Veiled Ossuary on your dragon. Freezes the game every single time.
still not fix?
Are there any news?
I always wait to install OS updates so that I don’t have to deal with teething issues.
Really should have checked before installing this one, but waiting is usually enough that it’s not problematic! Not so on this occasion.
I haven’t read the whole thread, but I felt compelled to comment due to the amount of people angry at blizzard over this.
It’s not their fault. And there’s likely very little they can do about it. This is an operating system issue and it’s something that Apple should be/should have fixed over 6 months since its launch! I’m kinda shocked that they haven’t tbh.
The metal legacy thing didn’t work for me. Mine crashes when I go into anything that’s CPU heavy like a dungeon or raid. Then the spinning wheel of death then the whole system just turns off.
The only solution for this is to roll back your operating system to Ventura. It’s really fiddly and a pain in the butt, but it’s the only thing that’s guaranteed to fix it. (Make sure to get a backup of ALL your files before you do it, don’t rely on iCloud).
Blizz are as helpless in this particular issue as we all are. Apple need to get their act together.
I really wish they had!
I always wait to avoid any teething issues when a new OS comes out. Apparently this OS update REALLY hates World of Warcraft!
I don’t see blizz being able to hotfix it if I’m being honest, it’s an OS issue and something that Apple needs to fix. I’m EXTREMELY surprised that they haven’t. I even tried the Beta sonoma to no avail.
Rollback is annoying as hell, but it really is the only guaranteed fix.
A warning by blizz would have been nice though!
so im playing sod atm and since the update it has been a mess, working and sometimes not. but going to start in window mode worked for me
Hi all, just an update if anybody is searching for fixes on this particular issue:
TECH SPEC: MacBook Air 2020, Intel Iris Plus Graphics.
PROBLEM: I cleared my Mac to get rid of junk. Didn’t think much and updated from Monterey to Sonoma in the process. Downloaded WoW and past cinematic had the issue: not fully loaded login screen (in terms of graphic) and then crash on connect.
SOLUTION: still to be fully tested but upon reading American customer support it appears that going back to Monterey is the only or at least best solution. Fairly straightforward, and with Monterey you can follow MacOS reinstall guide.
NB: You MAY need to completely wipe your Mac. Make a back-up.
Get into Internet Recovery by booting and then Shift + Option + Command + R. Connect to Internet, then wait. You can go into ‘Install MacOS’ option and it will let you reinstall the OS your Mac came with upon purchase. However, sometimes it doesn’t give you a disk to install on in the process (just blank).
In that case (mine too) you need to Erase your Disk fully. Quit Install, and go to Disk Utility. In View make all disc visible and then pick the highest and Erase. Use standard settings and name it Macintosh HD. Then quit Disk Utility and go to install again. Once your Mac functions on that old MacOS, you can then get the desired MacOS (but no higher than Monterey!) from App Store.
NB: this may be risky (no idea if. you can break something in the process), but worked for me. Yet to test many hours of gameplay but got to happily spin in Valdrakken upon checking.
