Hello,
as mentioned in the title I’m getting this error since the pre-patch update when using Directx12.
When I am at the character selection screen, sometimes the game will freeze for a few seconds, and then continue working for a while, then freeze again for a few seconds… until eventually it crashes and give me that error.
The same happens if I play with any character anywhere in the world.
I would like to mention that before the patch, everything was working fine on patch 8.3 but it was crashing the same way when I was playing on the PTR server (which already had the pre-patch update).
Regardless I’ve been trying multiple things to try to fix the issue in case that is on my side:
- Cleaning graphics drivers with Display Driver Uninstaller in Safe Mode and reinstalling from fresh.
- Disabling every overlay.
- Closing any other program running in the background.
- Reinstalling the game and playing without any addons.
- Checking temperatures (I’m always monitoring this, they are fine).
- Disabling any overclock.
- Ensuring that Windows and all drivers are up to date.
- Set up Nvidia Control Panel to “Prefer maximum performance” mode.
- Disable G-SYNC.
- Disabling Vsync
- Disabling MSAA
PC Specs:
CPU - i7 8700k
GPU - RTX 2080
RAM - 16GB
MOBO - Asus Maximus X Hero
Extra information that might help:
Main monitor - 1440p@144hz connected to the RTX 2080 (wow running on this one)
Secondary monitor - 4k@60hz connected to the iGPU (intel HD 630).
Launching the game using Directx11 Legacy allows me to play wtihout any issues and is rock solid stable, but comes with a big performance hit.
I’ve been trying to troubleshoot the issue and try solutions from previous post about this that I found searching on google, but no luck so far.
I wonder if there is something else that I could try and didn’t game to my mind or is just a game issue and I should wait for an update (I’m aware there have been changes to the engine with the shadowlands pre-patch).
I tried to link here a pastebin with the content of my gx.log after crashing but the forums doesn’t allow me to post links so here it goes:
