If you roll on a PvP realm, you gotta roll with the punches.
Personally I dont gank grey levels, it’s just boring. Always thought that ganking a grey level should result in a DK though.
They’re not gonna chamge the system though.

Even though i can understand where OP is coming from, i think this is missing the entire point of classic vs retail wow in expecting this kind of change
Its EXPECTED that players will use consumables in pvp on classic
Its EXPECTED that players will punish weaker players
Classic is an entirely different beast of a game to retail where 90% of the game is the preparation and the last 10% is the execution.
Its not uncommon for classic wow to have players use magic resistance pots to nullify a casters in a dual, its also not uncommon for someone to farm out a dumb powerful item for weeks or even months to have an edge in pvp that is totally unfair.
Even in a world of equal level players in classic there is so much you can obtain that is broken strong to have an edge from items to world buffs to gear that you have to accept its part of the game
I’d like to add a 3rd possibility:
If a level 15+ kills you and waits for your rezz to gank you again he shall get a proper Dishonorable Kill.
I don’t even mind a skull onehitting me once (although I can’t understand what kind of satisfaction he gets from it).
What I might do when i am in a “special mood”, I’d fear or sheep your grey toon and go my way.
I don’t get how everyone got “I’m not enjoying pvp servers and struggling” from this post and suggesting to switch to pve. World pvp is the only fun content in classic, and i am enjoying it alot. Could never play on a PvE realm. This post is more of a suggestion on things i think would be cool to implement and try out. It is interesting to hear other perspectives though, and there are many good points.
Bennyblaanco you say gear difference and classes are the biggest factor but you are using terms like “people with brains… and people being complete bots”. It’s almost like brains and knowing your class (and opponent class) is more important than gear and matchup, even when you are at a disadvantage. And nothing is more satisfying than winning against someone you should have lost to.
There was such a thing as “dishonorable kill” in wow decreasing your pvp rank. But bunch of losers was crying about they cant gank low levels and such thing was removed.
How is it different when high level rogue ganks low level warrior or when rogue one-shots equal level warrior who got low health fighting some quest skeletons? Not different. Both encounters are unfair and permitted in PvP realm. I’ve yet to encounter a fair combat in PvP realm. Almost always I’m ganked by a group of people or by a class that I can’t do nothing about it other than bubble+HS.
May be rogues find fun in world PvP but for me it’s just additional difficulty level which I accept, obviously, by rolling on PvP realm, but that has nothing to do with fun PvP for me. The only fair and fun PvP is arena.
The point you are missing is that the fights are never “fair”. Higher levels or 60s is just one aspect.
I’d imagine most of us know the classes by now and “knowing” this is not more important than gear or matchup in 99% of cases, especially while leveling. You ever see a warr try to kill a mage in classic?
You are a UD rogue on a PvP server, you didn’t want fair to begin with.
Here’s a scenario:
You (level 30 UD rogue) vs Level 30 warlock. Let’s assume you are 31 points deep in combat tree for the meta leveling/PvE spec. The warlock would likely be 31 points deep in a drain tanking build and using suc pet. So…tell me how he beats you? Both full health… he doesn’t. He shouldn’t even get a cast off, you will be at 2/3 health from the minor corruption damage while “dodging” all of the suc’s attacks. He’s barely lived through cheap, gouge and the shadow kick. He has no mobility or disengagement. Even if he iron grenades you your sprint closes. There’s literally no counter play and truth be told, I think you know that.
Just like the poster said above, WPvP fights are never “fair”.
Indeed, WPVP is never fair, but it was already much more regular in Vanilla, now with the dirty mentality of modern WoW players it’s just stupid.
Players are soft as lambs when the lvl is equivalent or they don’t have a 100% win chance and turn into pvp progamerzzzz once they are sure of victory (often by being several against 1 or having 5-6 lvl more or just skullhead)
There is no more pvp in WoW classic, just silly and nasty gank, and BGs will only be filled to farm rank 14 to have even more ascendancy over a green stuff opponent.
People are there only to be BiS before the maximum number of people, feeling like they have accomplished a feat on a 20-year-old game that was only meant to be there for nostalgic people who want to remember beautiful moments.
Insert “First time?” meme here.
I rolled on PvE for the first time this November after 20 years on PvP and RP-PvP. It’s such a relief, it’s hard to put to words. I genuinely resent my idiotic decision to serve as target dummy / entertainment for psychopaths for 20 years because some friend told me in 2004 it’s the “only way” to play wow “properly”.
Just roll PvE. Do it. You’ll thank yourself.
