And your achievements are your commendation for doing that at your own leisure. You didn’t feel forced to do that, it was your pleasure.
The point here, is that people who do not wish to do any quests in this game, are not allowed to do anything that they do want to do until they have completed all of the quests. They are being Forced to do everything that they do not want to do , in order to do the things that they do want to do.
What is your complaining on the forum going to achieve?
Quests were and always will be a required part of the game, this expac its actually better since you only need to do the campaign once, so just suffer through it once, it’s not that bad if you skip the sidequests.
Yes, sack the development manager for tailoring the game to suit their own play style and dismissing the way that other people like to play it…
Ghost Crawler had this game at it’s best. When he was the Development Manager, it had the most players world-wide of any online game. You could play the game as you wanted, without being forced to do any other part of the game. It was fun all round, for all… No matter what you preferred to do.
Heard of the game called Fortnite? It claims to have 350,000,000 players. Of course this is just the amount of players who have made accounts and i doubt that it does have even half as many players actively logging on. While WoW has never had so few players active.
So yes, Sack the Development Manager, pretty please, do.
First, Ghostcrawler is largely responsible for the mistakes of cataclysm which caused a sub drop.
Second, Fortnite is a FREE TO PLAY game, while WoW is P2P, of course there’s going to be a huge disparity in population, not to mention RPG’s are something that require alot of time.
You know, this answer which you are so quick to give to people, who come to state what they think is wrong with the game… is the very reason that this game is sadly going down-hill and dying, even in the wake of a new expansion.
“quit playing then if you don’t like the same as i do”.
This is why so many players are so reluctant to come to these forums… this is why so many players do just quit. This is why this game is now nothing but a quest grind. Well done, give yourself a round of applause!
So what if he made a few mistakes and caused a bit of a sub drop… the player base is a leaking bucket always.
He had the game equal for all… Equality!
And when you think of how much time players put into those “f2p” games, and how much they spend on simply cosmetic skins… They are not playing it because it is free to log on, they are playing it and spending more on it than the average player spends on WoW, because their developers know how to retain players.
The quest grind? You mean the one that requires a whole 12 hours played? You obviously haven’t leveled to 60 in Classic/Vanilla, or you’d be elated by a mere 12 hours to get from 50 to 60 and you’ve always leveled via quests in WOW since the very beginning, this is nothing new, it’s called the MMO genre.
I would agree it would be nice not to lock content behind the main campaign quest line, however, not that it really takes long to complete.
Flying won’t be locked behind achievements this time, Ion already confirmed in an interview we will unlock it through renown and probably as early as the first major content patch this time round.
Honestly, I’m not a white knighter for WOW or Blizzard and have spouted my fair share of comments on WOW, but this ‘review’ reads like one of those Youtuber ‘shhhh, don’t tell anybody I didn’t actually play the game’ reviews.
Mate, I see you have a problem with questing and honestly if that is not your thing that’s all good and dandy. Seems that you have been misinformed abit. With the Fate leveling system you do not need to do a single quest - you can jump right into the covenant leveling and just do those zone challanges which are what you actually like packed with mobs to kill - very chilled out way to pump that exp of yours.
And since you do not have to do any story quests you can easily pop right into the dungeons and farm your gear and anima powers.
To be honest this was never like this, especially on early days - you were forced to do quests to level up, since Dungeons was a thing of prestige and not so easy to do. PvP wasnt rewarding much and even Mounts were a rare thing. It required dedication and grinding. Not to mention raids dont reward any xp.
Honestly in SL after long time I have side things to do after gearing is done for a week - professions are goldmines and there are some sweet sweet spots to farm them.
Imo, shadowlands offers quite a lot of ways to gain the edge. Plus there are easily obtainable mounts sprinkled all over the place.
Covenants offer some small nice ways to keep you entertained. Yes, it is bit early in expnansion and gating does suck a bit, but even covenants offer way more things to do in near future. Instead of gating there should be more grind on “Do not enter” parts covenants.
I personally, enjoy the covenants story bits especially the Ravendreth bit, that kind of story you can sign me up for!
I for one havent even really started gearing my alt so far.
Oh and P.S. there will be no flying in SL - thats a good thing.
Not what Ion and John said in interviews just a few days before release ^^ They won’t lock it behind a big pathfinder achievement anymore though, just behind renown, so some progress at least.
www[dot]pcgamer[dot]com/uk/how-to-get-wow-shadowlands-flying-mount/ (reference to the interview with Hazelnutty games, Ion did one with Preach where he confirmed the same, flying in first patch only locked behind renown)
And if you like questing, that’s ok… If that is what Role Play Game means to you, then that is OK.
But if you like everything else about the game Except for the quests, and you started playing it when you were not required to do any quest in order to progress through the parts of the game which you do enjoy, then why should that be ok? Because a bunch of people who regular the forums demand quests, then everyone else has to suffer?
Because those who prefer not to quest, do not get their voices heard over those regulars, and the attitude served to them when they come to state their critical opinion on the matter…
Such as,
and,
and even though this is blatant trolling, i am the one who got banned from the forums for some time because this guy and his regular forum friends decided to flag one of my posts.
It is about time people stopped being so ignorant.
So unless you have something to say, other than telling people who do not like quests to stop playing the game, or undermining them with derogative statements, then please, just don’t write anything when those who do not like quests come here to say “Enough is enough”.
I had to wait until i was level 60, and spend 10k gold on armour to up my item level… just to get into a dungeon, where the paladin tank had an item level of 170 and could probably have soloed the dungeon.
I might actually have enjoyed levelling up in those dungeons, but now they just seem like - well, no fun since i am being carried once again by a seemingly Over Powered melee class.
My point is, the dungeons would have been fun if they were a challenge from the start, which they would have been if i were levelling in them, but now i must be boosted until i reach high enough item level to do the more difficult mode of the same dungeon.
In Wrath of the Lich King, you didn’t actually need to do any quests at all. That was by far the most popular expansion of WoW to date. You got all the story you needed from simply doing the culling of stratholm dungeon.
You could experience all of the end game content, and PvP, without doing a single quest. Which meant that you could do the quests at your own leisure if you chose to. So they didn’t seem so bad even. Being forced to do the quests makes them even less fun than they actually are, and since they are not much fun to begin with…
World of Warcraft isn’t like other RPGs, it is open world. It used to be “Play as you like”. So why do you play RPGs if all you want to do is follow a story-line, why don’t you just go and read a book?
Ive played for 2 days and am close to finish the storyline. Like for real all this rant for some quests? It’s not even a lot of quests, just some of them… If you don’t like doing quests there are many korean grinders for you bro.
Only thing that you’re right is the flying achiv, it should be like before when you hit max lvl you can just buy ability to fly.
But let’s be real its mmorpg, role playing… You know that you cant have rpg without any story?
