I have never been so disappointingly bored of playing this game before.
Once again, we cannot fly unless we complete an overbearing amount of quests to a pathfinder achievement. Even then we must wait for future content to be added.
Not only that, but we cannot enter a dungeon until we have completed every single quest.
Quest, quest, quest… Honestly? WTF?
I went to see this Chromie character for the first time, to see if i could switch back to an earlier timeline to level up to 60 because i am so sick of questing that i would end up deleting the game if i had to sit and try to speed level from these boring quests. But guess what? You are not allowed to switch to another timeline until you finish all of the Shadowlands quests.
I know, some people LOVE questing. Just as some people LOVE being bound to a 2D plane in the game, without use of flying mounts. One has to wonder if they also tip their camera view to birds eye view, to riminess the days of GTA1 on the PS1.
Blizzard have just about driven away all of the players who hate doing quests. Along with most of the ones who prefer to be using their flying mounts.
Long ago, you used to be able to play this game as you liked. If you didn’t want to do quests, then you simply didn’t have to, and you wouldn’t have any issues doing everything else in the game, such as PvP, Dungeons or Raids, or FLYING… without doing any of the quests.
The story line has taken a full on nose dive into the ground. I honestly lost all interest in any part of the story, when Blizzard released a video of a horde boss who is a Rogue and a Hunter and a Mage and a Banshee and whatever else she chooses to be, ripping apart a magical steel helmet with her bare hands. How pathetic. I know, World of Warcraft is supposed to be a magical world but this is far too unrealistic even for a land full of zombies and aliens. “The most powerful character ever known to Azeroth… Sylvanis?” seriously?
Quest, quest, quest - forced quests and more quests.
My advice to anyone looking to play World of Warcraft for the first time, would be quite simply “Don’t bother right now.” I honestly could not possibly recommend this game to a friend. Now compare that to the last expansion where i even bought the expansion for a friend, and rallied many old guild members to come back to the game.
Do you think we are your SLAVES, Blizzard? Then why are you forcing us to do quests?
Some people have said to me “you only need to do the quests on your main character, then you can skip them on your alts”. Except this is complete non-sense. How am i supposed to level alts if i cannot get them into dungeons, without completing quests? O - right, i have to do more of the same forced questing… Derp.
I hate doing quests at the best of times, but being forced to do them, yes i feel like some kind of slave. No fun at all. Sometimes i log on and i can only stomach 3 or 4 quests. Then i log off.
It has never taken me so long to hit max level before. Honestly.
Having our levels slashed in half was quite disappointing too. A poor development choice, needless, and seemingly poised just to tempt “Classic only” players into “retail”. I am sure the database could have handled us gaining level 200 before any real need arose for level slashing.
What i enjoy doing in World of Warcraft…
Flying around collecting herbs and mines.
Killing things which respawn quickly, to farm items.
Dungeons, Raids and a spot of PvP from time to time.
Crafting and selling things on auction.
Sadly, the parts of this game i actually enjoy are now ALL locked behind a shoddy story-line of eye-wateringly boring quests. No chance for me to do anything which i enjoy unless i grind my teeth to the gums doing all of these quests first.
What has become of this game? Why has this happened? The Blame lies with the Development Manager.
Good points about this expansion in comparison to the last one…
I don’t have to level up a piece of armour. I have some talents/spells back.
That is pretty much all.
ReQUEST for Blizzard … Please put out an EMERGENCY UPDATE which allows us to FLY, (in shadowlands zones) without needing to do a single quest, immediately.
Prettly please, with enchanting dust on top.
Note to Blizzard… if we wanted to play a forced story-line of overbearing mundane quests, then we would go and play Diablo3. Let us play this game as we choose, - meaning, stop binding every aspect of the game to pathetic, boring quests.
P.S. PLEASE SACK YOUR DEVELOPMENT MANAGER! (They are clearly a quest junkie who tailors the game to suit their own personal preferences).
