Would it bother people too much if Blizz added a transmog npc in Dalaran?

I, as many others, didn’t like Cataclysm mostly for the fact that it destroyed the old world and killed a lot of rpg elements, but I really loved the transmog system.

I wouldn’t want to advocate for Cataclysm Classic, that’d be silly… but those two Ethereal NPC’s could get a little tent in the sewers of Dalaran.

no thanks.

No. Transmog is a thing that ruins the rpg element of this rpg. If you want to RP in your wedding dress then have fun in Goldshire.

How does it ruin the rpg element?

No transmog in classic.

Because that female night elf running around naked, wielding a buckler and a fork, tanking the giant dude on fire isn’t very RPG-like while the guy next to him is wearing half of the Stormwind armory. The only one who wants to see your garbage RP transmog set is you and nobody else thinks it makes you look cool.

But those Buckler-and-Fork sets are exactly what you see people running around with without transmog.

if I could transmog, I would wear the Grimscale set and an Ironforge Tabard all the time.

Haven’t seen anyone running around naked in my raids so you might be getting a bit confused about your argument so go play dress-up on your own. The only way transmog wouldn’t suck is if it only changed your appearance to you and everyone else still saw you wearing gear. You get to look at your pretty, pretty princess and we don’t have to be reminded of your existance.

Noones gonna transmog for your scarlet runs dont worry poor 39 mage but people on level 80 enjoy to use the appearance of the gear they gathered in the story of their character so it would be a good addition

It definitely would bother me too much. Thanks for asking.

Eh I really see little to no reasons against it. Heck would probably give people something to do since not everyone collected every piece of gear imaginable. And hell it would provide for some visual variety even if in form of naked elves, gnomes and orcs. Really not much more immersion breaking than every healer wielding legendary, one of a kind hammer.

Oh you sad little fool, go dance on mailboxes in your own time. RP servers are dead, you character has no story.

In raids or dungeons I honestly wouldn’t really care.

But for PvP I kinda enjoy being able to see the estimated power level of a guy approaching me. Holds true all the way back to lvl 60 and up to Wrath.

If I can see what tier gear/gladiator gear/honor ranking gear the guy running at me has, I can tell ahead of time if he’s going to be an issue for me or not an act accordingly.

With transmogs I’d have to target each of them and guesstimate their gear-level from their HP.

Im not at all for transmog, but you are saying you are making these calls the very few situations you experience a 1 vs 1 with a player (as it becomes less of a matter if you have more people along side you, or the opponents has people alongside him) you see the Shoulders/Weapons on (as Head and Cloak can be hidden, Chest can be hidden with Tabard). Even Weapons could be changed during/before combat if that was a significant way to fool the opponent.

What do you do different if you realize the opponents Shoulders are up to date? Run the other way?

This actually got me thinking if it’s even possible for game client to have option in the display section of the interface settings that would toggle whether you would like to display transmog or not in case they will either add transmog function in WotLK classic or eventually re-release Cataclysm.

That way people who prefer to have uniform design of their gear even though they might be missing some pieces of the set, to transmog their gear to other set they have complete and those who dislike silly stransmog of certain “funny” players could simply turn off the display of altered appearance and make the game client render the actual equipped gear instead.

Dude… casually strolling into a tavern with a weapon drawn and full armour on or mounting a horse with full armour and no help from squires isn’t RPG either…
Just saying it’s a fantasy MMORPG, who am I to limit someones fun if it doesn’t directly influence anyone elses fun on playing the game. Or are you personally affected/offended by people running with the armour/weapons they like?

I’ll advocate transmogs make the RPG experience much better. Wanna be RPING a blacksmith drawn to adventure with barely an apron on and hammer drawn, have at it!

Wanna RP as a high society monocled mage in full evening attire slaying dragons? Why not!

But than again… I see you promote your playstyle, while advocating to limit everyone elses in all kinds of posts ranging from RDF to transmogs. And your opinion all boils down to: “Anything not classic (read Vanilla) should not be added”.

Alright, fine. Add transmog. It will only be visible to you and nobody else. You get to wear your favourite armor/weapons and I don’t have to see it. Thats all you wanted, you get to have fun playing dress up and I won’t have to look at your terrible transmog. That seems fair enough and I’d be fine with it implemented that way.

At this point I’m long past caring regardless.

No I don’t think that’s how it should work. I think they should add transmogs for everyone to see and use. Then they should add a button for sourpusses that don’t like flavour so just they can see what everyones true armour is.

Like a curry without chili peppers for a certain type of customers.

Edit: Anyone that wants to see true armour for PvP purposes. I get ya, you’re not sourpusses!

They do have a transmorg… But it might tank your item level…
