If Blizzard would make a reset of WoW, they would either
A.) Have to reset Retail and potentially kill the entire playerbase in one go.
Or
B.) Leave Retail alone and make another MMORPG as WoW, but resulting in ALMOST ALL EXISTING PLAYERS migrating over to the new MMORPG anyways, because they know that WoW1 wouldn’t get any content support anymore…
And the reason I say this is because I HAVE LIVED THAT with Destiny 1 being ended in support after Age of Triumph update and with the release of Destiny 2. Most people are only willing to do that 0-1 time in their live for an Online game of the size of Destiny 1. But in case of WoW? I would even dare to say 0 times for most WoW players that still play.
You may be right, but I’d be fine even if this WoW kept going on with WoW2 being a totally different game in parallel. No reasons to kill a cow that still gives you milk after all.
Oh, I wouldn’t say so. A world revamp doesn’t necessarily need to happen in one go as with Cataclysm. As Blizzard does it right now with current DLCs, they rework smaller assets over time, also exchanging old ones with them. Over time, the game will be modernized in the looks.
And to be honest, the detail level we have with Dragonflight Zones are actually timeless imo. They look good enough to outlast 20 more years of graphical improvement.
Thing is, as it stands right now, Team 2 at Blizzard doesn’t even have enough work forces to run WoW properly with updates due to the many lay-offs. So making another MMORPG would be very likely done by another team or even Studio.
It’s pure garbage, and they’ve removed everything about the old.
They could’ve made 'em similar to Hoggers model in HotS, but no - they made some stupid looking Disney ‘‘villain’’. Bloody hell, even Mickey Mouse looks more dangerous.
Because they are not meant to be a big evil or something.
They are minor villains at bests and don’t have to look like something out of Lovecrafts works.
Edit: Also, this game is still rated PEGI 12 so the graphics have to look like that (despite me disagreeing with that age rating and wanting it to be at least PEGI 16 with connected mature themes and such)
Are you claiming that the HotS Hogger model looks super big and evil, or Lovecraftian? Because he doesnt - he’s just more true, soul wise, to the original gnoll models.
You only need to look at overwatch 2 to see how the community would react to this. OW2 is even a more gentle reset than the one you propose in that people kept their skins etc.
If its a ffxiv wipe where everything gets reworked and it becomes basically a bran dnew game then ye I’d be somewhat fine. But if it’s just a wipe abd they do insignificant changes while keeping their sphagetti code I’d quit.
I would quit instantly because when it comes to wow i CBA playing again
It’s funny because in game like Path of exile i can play from begining without problem every league
I would like a reset, where everyone just gets legacy achievements and a chromie option to go back to their collection. I think the game in general just has insane bloat. If there isn’t a reset, bring back Fomo. I can understand people though, who have worked hard, and wouldn’t want this.
They couldn’t do that I think. Some people have 15 years of progress into their character. They won’t just go “…and RESET…everyone’s lvl 1 again! Yeey!..”
I wouldn’t be surprised a lot of WoW players would hit Blizzard with a class action suit suing them for basically taking away what they paid for.
On the other hand, WoW2, yes!
Rebuild the whole game from scratch, new layouts for all the zones (make them 10x bigger too). Rethink how questing works. I prefer the Classic low amount of quests that take a while to complete, and despise the questhub fetch/kill quests I don’t even read.
Maybe we should be able to make our own quests. Have a bounty lodge for instance, where we can turn in drops from mobs (ears, tails, scales, scalps, etc) for other resources, or where we can negotiate a contract with the owner. You can set what you want to do yourself, and if you manage that within a timeframe, you get x reward. You fail, you get x-1. You outperform the quest you get x+1.
You want to kill 10 boars for 10 gold within 10 minutes, sure here’s your contract.
You want to kill 10.000 elite dragons within a 100 days to get a permanent buff that increases the dropchance for you to get a binding for Thunderfury, but falls off once you get a binding, sure, here’s the contract.
Basically, you could choose what you want to do and negotiate the timeframe and the reward. Each major town could have it’s own lodge tied to their faction, and more choices become available with increased faction standing.
The only other quests that would remain would be story quests.
If they made a server cluster that would progress each expansion every two years or something I might be interested in fresh experience but if they force killed everything, they’d lose a lot.
