WoW Classic 20th Anniversary Realms Information -- Updated 18 Nov

… AND people will come back to Era once TBC heads to the end (or die in HC).

Will russians/germans/french have their own realms? If not, this is already dead.

I dont know for russian/german but the french realms are completely dead.

The two statements were separate.

I probably wont bother with it if there is no GDKP. GDKP is the only way people can play casually unless they are gold buyers or in a bad guild that doesnt require flasks or consumes. GDKP cuts pay for all your consumes and flasks with plenty left over to bid on gear in later raids. Without that cut, you have to spend hours a week farming gold to pay for all those consumes. As someone who likes to do BGs, spending all my time raiding and farming consumes without time to queue battlegrounds is not appealing.

Moreover, GDKP is a more rewarding loot system when you join performance based ones. You get a bigger cut for the number 1 spot and it incentives people to not slack. Better players and rewarded in performance based GDKP which is probably why it always seem to be noobs who hate GDKP, likely because they get deducted in GDKPs for messing up and get a tiny cut for their grey parses. Generally you get better players pumping in GDKPs. All the SR runs I have joined recently were laughable, terrible players and a terrible run. The only exception is serious speed run guilds. However, most of the members of those guilds even have a second charactor who they run GDKPs on to pay for consumes with on their main.

I find it ridiculous all these arguments saying everyone who does GDKP is a gold buyer. I have never felt the need to buy gold in a GDKP. You get plenty of gold from your cuts to buy whatever you need. The only time I was tempted to buy gold was when I was in a guild, as paying for the consumes for raiding was a nightmare. Moreover, to buy enough gold to buy anything decent in a GDKP you’d have to spend hundreds or thousands IRL. There is only a small minority of individuals who are big enough losers to spend that much money IRL on virtual items which they could get for free from the cut they get at the end of a GDKP.

Hasty? You have more than a full year until TBC.

Then don’t raid for the first 6 month and enjoy your pace

I understood ONE of each - as in one worldwide PvE and one worldwide PvE - I do hope I’m not right, and we get one of each per region/language group.

Sad about the GDKP ban… blizzard does not want us to play more than 1 character

Been waiting so long for classic fresh.

Some really really nice changes here, but some really bad ones for the community.

Mega-servers are great in theory, but having so many layers is going to seriously harm the sense of community in seeing random people around the world who you know. Please consider at least having a handful of servers.

No GDKP is a terrible decision, the best way that thousands of players like to play, is to run GDKP, perform well, and get paid for their work to fund the next raid. If people don’t like the inflation this causes, then Blizzard need to tackle the real issue - gold buying and botting. Player counts will fall off hard if grinding and AH playing becomes the only method of gold-making, instead of just earning by playing well.

I’ve hated the Chronoboon ever since it was introduced, both as a priest, and as a warrior. Outside raids a big chunk of the gameplay and community interaction was the logistics of safely acquiring all your world buffs. I had so much fun working with my guildies to get buffs without getting picked off, but yeah that’s gone now I guess. And as a priest, I enjoyed being notorious for purging among the Horde, but yeah I guess that sense of community is gone too.

Finally, this is probably my smallest gripe, but I’ll miss world chat and all the drama it invlved through passwords, bans, and ownership transfers. It added so much to the sense of server community, and sure it’s “griefing” and people get their gameplay experience hampered, myself included at times, but fighting back against it, and the relationships and rivalries it created were important.

I hope people can make enough noise that Blizzard will be receptive to these changes.

Of course it’ll be one per region. Blizzard never released worldwide servers. US ping going to be so terrible, that all EU players will learn what I experience and that would be so miserable that Blizzard just can’t allow it.

No GKDP = less need for gold = less RMT.
Not all players are RMT but the main reason for gold is GDKP.

There will be bots. GDKP or no GDKP.

I so hope you’re right and I misunderstood. I play on US as well, and I do not find it that bad. But what a stinky, layered mess only one server would be. I do get why for th PvP server, but 2 or even 3 PvE servers would be just so good.

I’m really dissapointed by the removal of GDKPS, Fresh will struggle so much because of it imo.

This will only increase the RMT since now people have to swipe to buy consumes instead of funding it from GDKP pots.

Mark my words.

No GDKP = less gold needed.
It’s that simple.

There is a difference between “less gold” and “no gold”, but the gap is huge.

No GDKP

= People have to swipe to get gold, we are not 15 years old with 9 hours of game time per day to farm mats.

The bots & swiping will be at the same levels as now.

Works well in SOD?

The Pugs in SOD are atrocious, so low quality because there is no incentive to keep good & geared players playing.
