Except that the prevailing opinion on the new servers is that we don’t want these transfers so early during the progression curve.
30 min? Oh honey.
Now me and my split up group still cant play together :(…this was not what we hoped for
Their business is making profit whilst keeping the community content. It’s hilarious to see people have wild fantasies on how ‘easy’ networking and server technology is.
‘just add new servers’
‘buy better servers’
The hardware and software both have their limitations, Blizzard has software tech in place to have servers run better and the effects of that are visible. The general server stability is way better than it was 15 years ago even when there’s a lot more calculations to be made. (Example: spells having multiple effects now compared to 1 in vanilla)
Server stability could be better if those calculations could be done client-side but you to thank cheaters and exploiters for making that impossible.
The longest queue I’ve been in was 1.5 hours, which in comparison to others is low, but then again I was smart enough not to go on the 2-3 realms the bigger EU streamers are on, which apparently everybody else seemed to have picked.
Its quite dangerous to allow such transfers though. Yes, for the spanish, nordic, german and whatnot community, it might be fun to gather at one realm, but what about those not in these communities? They will sit on a server where the language that is spoken, won´t be understood.
We all made a choice of our servers on release, after knowing where streamers or specific nationalities would end up. All that preperation is now kind off screwed and that is a huge issue.
I enjoy people from around the world, but I know what it means to play on a realm where all of a sudden you are in a minority.
The nordic are on Firemaw I believe, my friend plays there in a guild.
It is correct that Nordic is on Firemaw, but as I stated: everyone is not there bc of q-times… And the idea is not that we speak Danish/Norwegian/Swedish (we are used to speaking English), but I have friends on 3-4 different servers now, and this is not a sollution to gather our community again. It will stay scattered as long as we cant move our chars.
You have no idea either.
Hardware is cheaper, bandwidth is cheaper.
Your “client side calculations” part is just laughable and not even worth replying to, you are clueless.
And what about russian servers? No transfer? 10k queue.
Regular day in russian reservation zone
I am no RP’er, but I’ll have to sign this.
Get the PvE’ers and PvP’ers not interested in RP, off the RP realms.
I kinda wanted a free one way transfer to any server, i planned on having me and my friend transfer to a server with our buddies, which was zandalar tribe, sad news for me, but hey it’s for the best of population equalization, so it ain’t that bad
Hardware cheaper entirely depends on the configuration, each realm has several concurrent servers running now compared to I would believe a single server per realm back in vanilla days (considering the countless of outages). Bandwidth is cheaper but there’s no saying if Blizzard is using self-made software technology for servers or has licenses from 3rd party companies which can be quite costly.
Client-side calculations off-load the servers by A LOT; If all spell calculations were done client-side the servers would run a lot smoother; the downside in doing so is that it increases the minimum bandwidth/hardware requirements. People with decent computers and internet connection would probably not experience any added lag/latency from this change, people using older hardware would however.
Thousands of people using abilities and performing actions simultaneously on a server strains the server a lot more when calculated server-side and data sent back-and-forth to every client in the vicinity. High pop servers could possibly run a lot smoother when you let user clients handle the calculations. The biggest challenge then would be a possible increase in bandwidth usage back-and-forth. Latency could see a minor increase.
Exploiters(cheaters) make it near impossible to implement it all clientside as they’d ‘simply’ change the damage values of spells, one-shotting people they shouldn’t be able to oneshot at all. Heck some people make themselves lag on purpose to avoid being ganked (player position is calculated client-side).
So every disadvantage you listed is true with layering… but my solution solves others…so it is literally better in every way.
I am absolutely dumbfounded. Blizzard really have a hard time understanding people’s concerns. Others, include me have friends on different servers, you mongrels. We need transfers to freely transfer to any server, Not transfers to a selected server!!!
That is their own fault lol.
like its you guys splitting up just because of queues.
I have friends in shazzrah and other realms willing to move to medium pop servers. this is stupid as hell.
Your ‘solution’ would only anger the classic community, would have a detrimental effect on the economy and the availability of quest mobs/gathering nodes/etc. on the realm(s).
It also has a detrimental effect on the performance of the servers individually when they’re connected as ‘one big realm’. As such it would cause more problems than it solves.
It’s better to have separate servers and merge them or have free transfers between them as it causes fewer issues.
Where da fook is my transfer?
Oh great! Hopefully they´ll release this today or tomorrow! Thank you!
… Oh im sorry. I should “Get the f out of here” for saying i Q for a time.
There should be no waiting for anyone if the pop was stable and there was enough room for everyone.
So, why don’t you go take a long hard look at yourself and follow your own advises.
No thx for your toxic input!
