WoW download stuck on "initializing"

Fixes I’ve tried:

  • Deleting bnet folder in C:\ProgramData

  • Closing processes in task manager

  • Switching battlenet launcher to the Beta version

  • Uninstalling and reinstalling battlenet

  • Updated Windows 10, .NET and GPU

  • Restarting the PC

Edit: I just tried installing WoW Classic and it works, however, I tried installed WoW PTR and it also gets stuck on initializing

I have click stop the download and click run it again.
Now it says that it waits for some other downloads to finish… =(

Mine was doing this just now but I just let it roll for about 10 mins and it started downloading eventually. It lingered long enough for me to go “Oh no, its not going to…” and then it started! Hope it gets sorted for you :frowning:

For me it started yesterday already. It’s stuck at initializing and nothing I do updates the WoW. I even did a clean install of everything and still nothing.

I can’t start WoW client directly because it’s not compatible (probably because of phase two today, it needs to update).

Same here,doesnt seem to want to work…stuck for an hour there and done almost everything…

I was running into this on a fresh install. I tried everything to solve it listed here and in the US forums topic at https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/infinite-updating-loop/1386208. In the end, none of the solutions worked, but what did work is leaving it overnight at initializing. I woke up in the morning and it had installed. I left it for about 20 hours in total.

also stuck on initializing, currently at 30 minutes, really frustrating!

Blizzard servers? Being totally inadequate? On prepatch launch day? No-one could have forseen this coming.
