When you get it downloaded just have pation waiting for the game to launch after pressing play once… It takes ages but it will start
I just tried this method and yes! I can see big improvement to the progression speed! Thank you!
Use vpn it works just did it in literally 2 mins
- Try logging out of the Battle.net Desktop app. Goto the Cog icon above your Email and switch to a different region. If you are in Europe try the Americas. Then switch back once the game is downloaded or fully updated.
the region thing doesn work,cleaning cache,wtf etc nothing,still stuck.
mine did the same, stuck on initializing for an hour and a half; I’ve tried:
Running as Admin
Repairing (it got stuck at 0%)
Restarting
Uninstalling retail (got stuck at 0%)
Closing all programs in the Task Manager
Deleting Cache
Deleting the battlenet folder
Deleting the Indices folder
Uninstalling…and now it won’t reinstall the launcher
everything has just repeatedly gotten stuck at 0%, insisted it was waiting on other updates etc

i dont have ANY email on my battlenet app. ANY AT ALL
guys use vpn ad conect to hong kong started download for me instantly
If you are still logged in, try logging out of the BattleNet app:
- click on your name at the top right corner of the BNet app, and click logout.
- at the BNet login screen, there’s a cog wheel icon above the email address field!
For those who after the update can’t start the game, just stay connected on the vpn. The game starts immediatly.
Tried HK VPN… does not work… ;(… Star Wars Andor it is…

I am in now after 2 hours - bnet connected to america (no vpn) started download slowly after about 20 mins at initializing 0%. Got excited clicked play when it was playable, wow wouldn’t open. Killed it in task manager, switched back to eu, download finished and can play now. Haven’t purchased dragonflight yet tho and update was super small for me (like 100sth MB)
You don’t just have to sit at your PC staring at a download that isn’t starting. Press download and find something else to do. Clearly they’re having server issues and it’s affecting a lot of people so you’ve just got to be patient. DF isn’t even out yet, so you weren’t going to be playing it today anyway.

Hi. I had same problem with Initializing… today. I waited a few hours and now the update continued. Just wait, stable connection and patience. Good luck.
tried HK VPN with no luck. still 0% on initializing.
Great!. Yeah, the BNet regions are America, Europe, and Asian. But what the others have done on top of changing the BNet region to Asia is also to connect to one of the Asian countries via VPN (a separate application), and in this case, Hong Kong.
I’ve done that 2 min ago, waiting… 
ah ok, using the vpn means you have one. And i dont. So probably is better for me to go play someething else. Or sleep.
