WoW Dragonflight stuttering when loading players, please help, tried everything

Hi!

WoW is not enjoyable for me anymore anywhere the game loads in players I get small stutters. In Valdrakken its horrible. It stutters alot when moving around there. I have tried everything i can think of including reinstalling computer from scratch and only installing WoW but its still the same. Also when turning down graphics to lowest, it still stutters.

Is it the game? Is it for everyone?

I am considering to quit WoW because of this issue. Blizzard admited it was an issue who caused stutter like 7-8 months ago but saying its fixed.

My specs are:

CPU: AMD Ryxen 5600x

GPU: Nvida 3080

HDD: WD SN750 NVME

RAM: 32GB 3600mhz

OS: Win 11

Br D

Same problem here but i have a cheaper and weaker config with a 5600 - 16 GB @3600Mhz and a 6650XT all setted up on a cheap MoBo Gigabyte DS3H B550M with updated bios 1.7 ( no difference between old bios and new 1 even if there was a tweak perfomance boost for 5XXX CPU :frowning: )and and NVME Samsung 980 . I run same the account on another machine equidded with a gen4 i5 Intel CPU , 8 GB RAM , and RX 580 with 8GB VRAM and wow is installed upon an SSD, and i get similar performance (both machines with settings at max and AA disabled and alla ADDONS disabled). Pls give us a Feedback

Theres nothing you can do,its like this since the start of dragon moneymilk.

one of the reasons i unsubbed,6000 euro pc and game stutters lol.

i have 4090 from ASUS ROG,13900k,motherboard ASUS ROG,power supply ASUS ROG of 1500 watts and play starfield maxed @4k.

so yeah, theres NOTHING you can do,and dont wait on blizzard to fix anything, they just cant.

plenty of insane games to play nowadays.

Wanna trade PCs? I don’t have any loading stutter with player characters on my system

Did you try without addons?
Some addons that scan players can cause this, like raider.io.

That was another issue with stuttering in general, which has been fixed a while ago.

This is what I thought to but so many claim that they don’t have it so I don’t know what to think anymore

show video evidence with a flat frametime flying over valdrakken and i believe you.

PS:empty servers dont count.

Yes exactly, the frametimes are all over the place in Valdrakken.

got you bro, theese people never played a fixed frametime they dont know what they talking about.

has for the game yeah i know what stutters you are talking about, they will never fix it,because they dont know how.

any original developer of wow is working there anymore, this new guys only know how to make the game worse.

i remember playing lineage 2 and then try wow and think : omg this is the smoothest online game i have ever played.

right now is worse than lineage 2 xD

Same here for me, i know that many many others have the same problems with the stutters and lag but they have just given up at this point and dont write in forums anymore since blizz completely ignorere us

We had an bluepost a few months ago closing a main thread witch had around 22k views and 150+ response just to say that stutters has been fixed even that they were still here so yeah they will never fix it.

I have been in contact with Blizzard support about the issue and either they are lying or are unaware of the issue. Because they have put some time into solving my issue. But if so many people have it it won’t help putting all this time into it

These are two different things and you keep on mixing it up to fit your agenda.
Read again what the OP said and what i replied.

Valdrakken is the only spot ingame where the framerate isn’t stable and can go up and down by like 30+ FPS when flying over the central spot infront of the AH.

I think the main problem is still the very singlethreaded and thus mostly CPU-limited engine.
Even my 2070S (1440P) is only utilized by about 80-90% with uncapped framerate in that spot.
Depending on the amount of players my FPS are around 90 on avg there.

To show you that i am 100% CPU-limited even on my 5800X3D i took two screenshots.
The first is at 100% renderscale and the second at the lowest 33%.

As you can clearly see my GPU is bored in the 2nd screen with only 55% load but the FPS stay the same.

Also my frametime is fine as long as i don’t fly over that spot.
What i noticed though, the “Low Latency Mode” when set to “built-in” causes alot of microstutter.
In the screens it is set to disabled but NVIDIA Reflex is the same.

So check what your setting is or maybe play around with them and install MSI Afterburner to check your frametimes.

@Daigoro
It is really hard to imagine that you’re having worse frametimes than me with your 13900K and 4090 + DDR5 (i assume).
Can you show your frametimes to compare?

no need to compare frametime is sh1t on this game when more than 5 people together.

when you are sitting in valdrakken is all good, but if you fly over back and forth the “loading” of player makes the game stutter a lot,if it happens on my 4 pcs and ONLY in wow sure the problem is with the game.

and like i said,no pc on earth will cope with the spaguetty dx12 and numerous bandaid fixes done in shadowlands khortia when the game suddenly broke out and even opening the map make game unplayable with stutters,i reported this since start of shadowlads, got worse in dragonflight, they tried to fix but never could.

they CANT fix it.

the game was turned to dx12 in bfa but was not DESIGNED in dx12,that was just a fake dx12 because dx12 can use all cores not just 4 like wow,and somehow was when the game started to have stutters ,jitters, all kinds of frametime problems, before dx 12 game was FINE.

you can have 200 cores game will only use 4,and texture streaming in wow is horrible also.

too many problems for them to be able to fix it.

if wow had microsoft forza horizon 5 texture streaming and dx 12 100% THEN the game would work flawlessly like forza 5 horizon (for instance).

a game that is online and superb in performance.

actually forza 5 had the same problem, stutter when a player in his car appeared on scene…

they fixed it in 1 week and never returned.

xD

my ONLY faith in this game is microsoft to tell you the truth…

They certainly can’t with the engine being still singlethreaded at it’s core.

It does not use 4 cores or even threads, it is using ONE main thread which calculates the meshes for the game world/characters and ofc the combatlog including all addons.

If you don’t believe me, there is a blue post in the german forum that confirms it.
I posted the link in another thread.

I wish they would reboot with a new engine and WoW 2.0.
The first is probably never going to happen because of how much it would cost…

I had no stutter issues pre Dragonflight. So they must have messed something in DF that they are unable to fix.

Since WoW is the only game doing this I will give up trying to fix it myself. It’s not on my end

I agree it started with the DF prepatch.
For me it lasted until the first major patch (10.0.5 i think) so almost exactly 3 months of stuttering.
Then with the patch it got fixed for me, the bad stuttering and framepacing issues.

The performance when flying over Valdrakken is better too but still messy and noticeable framedrops.

Overall for me the game runs pretty good but then again i am on a Ryzen 5800X3D which is kinda powering through most of the bad optimization.

I’m sure for people with slower CPUs the game is not really enjoyable when many players/npcs are on screen.
Also the reason why i upgraded from my 3900X which has bad singlecore performance and that’s exactly what WoW needs.

PS: most people vastly underestimate the impact certain addons have on performance especially in raids and m+

Yeah I am trying to find a 5800x3D for a good price, used or on sale but its so popular that there not that many availiable in my region. For full price I dont think its worth it over the 5600x that I have now,

How much is it in your region? It’s gotten pretty cheap here in Germany, around 275€.
I bought it for 420€ i think and i don’t regret it.

It’s the best CPU you can get for AM4 and it’s still one of the best CPUs in WoW.
Benchmarks in WoW show it over 50% faster than your 5600.

You will notice that in raids, m+ and any demanding scenario.
Like if your around 40ish FPS now, you will be around 60 then.
That’s a big difference in how the game feels and responds but obviously you have to decide if it’s worth it.

It is like 345 euro here in sweden now. So pretty expensive. Been looking for a sale but never happens

Hi everyone!
I had stuttering in Valdrakken since march. I was trying all ways Just one thing helped me. I installed new clean Windows 11 direct from USB flash drive. And now all is going smoothly.
I hope it helps you , Good Luck

I doubt we have the same problem. I hav reinstalled windows and it didn’t help. Also upgraded to a 5800x3d cpu now and it’s still the same. So it’s the game no doubt
