I agree with OP completely - my thoughts - wow gets harder and harder with more and more job-like features.
Thats exacly the same what you said here:
Very nice quote, it does genuinely feel like this.
I pugged myself to nearly 2700 rio score soon, i’m starting to feel burnt out for sure but as soon as i feel no joy anymore i won’t force myself to keep playing.
What i realized is WoW only feels like a chore if you play way too much, basically like anything in the world. Too much is usually always bad.
So, do other things. Nobody expects you to clear mythic every week and have 3k score. Nobody. Do something else, it helps tons. Take a few days or weeks off of WoW. It really does help. Can’t recommend this enough.
Alternatively: Set different goals for yourself. WoW has a lot more to offer than just current endgame. I could literally think of at least 10 other things i could dump endless hours into in WoW.
Yeah dragonflight did a major mistake introducing the weekly +20 instead of weekly +15
Sad that they need to learn it the hard way.
Good point. But there is a catch. Making your own goals means creating closure just for you. You have full control over it, and this is much better for your mental health. Having the best gear is a trap from Blizzard, in which they set goals for you and control the closure. And ofc they will make it very hard achievabale and always moving target, because they want you keep playing and playing and paying. Because it’s someone’s else goal, people burn out, people feel terrible and stressed. It happens every day in real life too. Why in the world do I need Ferrari instead of Kia? I will use the same roads, I will drive me to any place I want with the same speed, but I will spend much more money and effort for nothing. That’s why I pick Kia and happy with it. I will not aim for Ferrari because mass media keep telling me it’s a great achievement and cool boys must have it.
The moment I read nazjatar I knew you were either trolling or have no clue what you’re talking about
The last two patches of BFA are so criminally underrated.
why do you think that for example 411 is “half … rewards” ?
im genuinly curious . its muhc higher then what most of hc raid offers.
what do you even need that gear for ? those few WQ ? or farming old raid ?
reality is you dont need it - you want it but you dont want to put required effort and go into whine mode when others point out to you that you dont deserve it.
there is absolutely nothing wrong with for example doing just +10 on you 11th alt.
you dont need to do +20 on every possible alt just because you want to
also they is plenty of “middle class” - they just dont come whining to forums because they have other better things to do in game once they are done with ksm and aotc in first month of season. and if you go ksm you are already among top skilled players in wow anyway - way above your average wow player
I absolutely do know what Im talking about. Go and play Baldur’s Gate 1 & 2 boy.
I do get the feeling behind this point. Moving to 20s as the “standard” felt like a rough move, especially in a season that is generally agreed to be a bit harder than the previous, such that 20s are probably more like 22-24s.
That said… I think the intent might be to absolutely force players into picking their own personal targets, rather than everyone feeling like they “should” be in the best gear.
I feel like I’ve done ok this season, I can make a fair shot of 18s, but I’m having a really hard time turning those into 19s (unless they are SBG). As a healer, when we don’t wipe, I know that’s not on me - and sometimes it isn’t when we do wipe. But what it tells me is that a lot of people are peaking at about this level. Maybe 25-30% of my guild is reliably doing 20s, meanwhile the mythic raid team is working it’s way through the mythic raid, and it is about 50% people who aren’t doing +20 keys.
20s are hard, it is annoying that they feel out of reach - but nobody truly needs to do them. There’s no unique transmogs; you can get those at lower ilvls. I believe 16s are all that’s required to collect the visuals of the full mythic set, with the catalyst open.
I get that it’s a bit of an affront to many of us who were used to doing “the top level” keys without any real effort for our weeklies, but I think in the long term - and I mean literally over a year or so - it will help adjust the mindset of the playerbase to being a little less determined that they should be able to do everything at max difficulty.
There is some real cognitive dissonance on it though. Half of me thinks it is actually healthy over time, the other half thinks that the top end of the game has gotten too hard and it’s splitting guilds down the middle because those that can go high, want to, and those that can’t go high, cannot follow. After a while, guilds and communities end up divided along a performance line that excludes a lot more players than it used to. And I’m not so sure that will be healthy.
the difference between 18s and 20s reward is literaly 3 itlv from GV
its almost meaningless .
so maybe it would be muhc muhc healtheir for lot of people to just stick to 18s for weekly instead wasting time and nerves trying to just get those 3 itlv more.
need buff all loot for casual player. max chest should be 12. ksm should be 15. portals 20. lfr loot buffed to normal raid ilvl. hc/normal merged with lower diff than hc but same loot
chest vault stuff must unlock at 2/4/6 bosses/m+ runs not 4/8/12
based reply but nazjatar was bad and mechagon worse. also edit ur swear words ur get ban
WoW is like a job, and that sucks. Nobody wants to pay for frustration and stress for rewards that last 1-2 months and then start from zero all over again.
If your hobby is starting to feel like a job, that’s a sign that you should take a break for a while. It isn’t a sign that the hobby has fundamentally changed. Anything is going to get tedious if you keep on doing it day in and day out without ever taking time away from it.
its almost meaningless
Yes!
But I can see both sides of do want and don’t care
The reason why those places were fun was the people that were funneled there and it made world feel alive and PvP was super fun. Especially in Mechagon.
WoW’s biggest problem is too many empty areas, servers dead, phasing and sharding.
Not at all, my job is fun and engaging. WoW feels more like a prison.
WoW is like a job
The Game is the same
Just lots of people forgot, it is a Game, a hobby you play to have fun and relax
If it becomes a job to you, that is:
1, your fault, it is all in your head because you belive you need this and that and made your hobby a job
2, clear sign from yourself to you, it is time to take a break
