It was fine when we had 3 WoW versions to play.
OG Classic, Classic (Cata) and Retail.
Now it’s just getting ridiculous.
OG Classic
Classic hardcore
Fresh Classic
Fresh Classic Hardcore
SoD
Cata
Retail
This is just getting ridiculous at this point. And what’s gonna happen in 3 years when the people whine for another fresh?
Why couldn’t we just have 3 versions of the game and that’s it? Why do we need to assimilate to the niche group of redditors who want fresh Classic or a BC Classic?
It’s such a mess, if I were a new player and someone tried explaining me all the different versions of WoW I’d just feel overwhelmed and not bother.

It’s insane that people are complaining about having more diversity and content to have fun in the evenings. You don’t want it so don’t play. It is very nice that we have all of this under one subscription. One likes classic, one likes retail, and other classic with new stuff. Personally I missed classic due to busy life, and I’m happy that I will be playing again classic up to wotlk.

Oh no, more choice and more tastes being catered to.

You are so blindly clapping on anything Blizzard annouces.
Good luck finding groups in any of your BELOVED versions besides retail. Seems most of you don’t understand that more servers = people split between all versions = less players on each. Should I recall how did classic era look when tbc was released? There were like 5 players online. But yeah, you are right, clap more to your Blizzard GODS.

The goal is to keep you distracted so you don’t go and experience other games.

And? it’s obvious that people will jump from one to another thing to try it out. That’s life, but still. You will have people playing everywhere more or less anyway

I saw someone predict classic classic a few years ago and thought it was funny. Seeing as it will now be a thing I suppose there will be classic classic classic maybe 5 years down the line.
Generally speaking, us Retail players have little to worry about… it’s the Classic players’ population that’s getting diluted with all these Classic server variants.

I disagree with you. There are different things for different players. Some play OG Classic and other SoD. A lot prefer HC and a lot will not move from modern WoW and go back to Classic.
Just look how popular are Classic fresh servers. I keep seeing threads on the forums wanting a fresh server and now Blizzard are delivering.
So yea I definitely disagree with you. I think there is something for everyone.
People play WoW in a seasonal fashion, original Classic is dead because there is nothing left to progress. You can look at Diablo 2 as an example of the first seasonal game, they just did a new ladder season once every 6 months and players came back and played again, doing the same content on fresh characters/economy.
Having a rolling fresh reset of Classic on a 3-4 year cycle, or whatever, while player interest remains is better than having one eternal server that is destined to be a ghost town. Did they need to do that for Hardcore, given the natural churnover of players via deaths? Maybe not, but this is progressive so it does have a new element.
Original Classic is completely dead, might as well not exist, is a graveyard, yet people still want to play Classic, just not there.
marketing explained in 1 quote
Marketing is also the process of implanting a certain association of trust into a product as well as a persistent memory…
I understand marketing is a necessary evil, but those people knows how to behave like absolute tumors…

I do think that most of SoD type content should have been done in Retail using Caverns of Time and the Bronze Dragonflight to tell stories of the past or possible alternate pasts.
Classic (even Hardcore) aren’t a lot of work so I’m fine with them. If I had the eyesight (and patience) I probably would have played them to see the stories from those zones as they were.
Everything has too much of it. Too many difficulty modes, too many games modes, too many PvP modes.
Everything needs to consolidating. They’ve spread the butter too thinly.
well good. just delete retail and everything after wotlk.
