WoW is ageist

I might have missed it (due to my age) but I don’t think the OP even said what their age is. For all we know they may be like 25.
Not to say my age, but I was about 8 when I started gaming on an Atari 2600 VCS, and it’s not that hard to get gold on the races if you do them once or twice to see where you’ll face plant.
Being a bit older, the forums are a constant source of amusement watching the kiddies rage [on other threads I mean, not this one].

Respectfully, that is crap. Nobody forces you to do gold races. Its a videogame. How about you Accept that as people get old you get slowly worse at videogames if you play them competitively?

Play at your level and enjoy it and dont complain that the devs dont design the game for old people with sight problems. Thats extremely selfish.

Im in my early 30s and I know at this age i will no longe ever be able to be a world champion in pvp or mobas. Thats just life. Play at the max level you are capable of and dont concern yourself about people who can play better.

How old are you exactly? I mean I’m approaching 50 and not struggling too much, still mythic raid, still got gold in most of the dragonriding stuff (advanced).

Just get good? :joy:
Flying races to gold is pushing content. I’m 25 and theres stuff I need to practice for to get gold (of talking races), or just get the mechanics in even normal dungeons.

The game is becoming more Action focused which isn’t very RPG (where the character’s Agility should be more important than the Players’ Agility).
But I guess this is where gaming is going.

As someone with poor eyesight, I’ve cut back on what I used to do. I will probably end up doing little more than the story in TWW. I have IRL friend who plays and we do some other stuff together when they’re online. Over the weekend we were doing some old Isle of Thunder achievements as I want the Stormbreaker title. Unfortunately the one to scare away Hatchlings didn’t work party wide, so they got it and now I have to run around scaring hatchlings myself (at least that is soloable for me, unlike the Chamberlain statue one).

Dragon Riding, Plunderstorms, even some dodge mechanics I’ve heard are in Delves are moving the game in a diraction that won’t suit me. Although my eyesight is worsening anyhow and I’ll be forced to retire in the next few years in any case.

To be Fair and give some credit where due, Blizzard have added some great Accessibility features. A dragon will fly for some quests so you don’t have to use your own. There are Follow dungeons, Flight Masters in Dungeons where flying is needed, and in Options menu some settings have really helped.
I would have been forced out years ago without these features.

It might be worth the effort to change all graphics to the absolute lowest specifically when doing the races to both decrease the amount of stuff on screen, and to also make it easier for the pc (especially older ones) to maintain steady framerate without spikes.

What’s this addon that lists everything on the right?

How on earth are the races reaction based? Before even taking a checkpoint you can already see the direction of the next one, and the whole point of a circuit is to memorize it anyway. If your memory is so bad that you can’t even memorize a simple short route, you might wanna get checked because there’s certainly more than just age limiting you.

That said, Rogerbrown, a RWF player for Echo is 33, and there are plenty players in their 40s in high end mythic raiding. If people in their 40s can successfully mythic raid in this ageist game, surely you can finish a skyriding race with a gold medal.

Every post on an internet forum for a video game is just someone’s opinion. We aren’t professors or world king or something.

We shouldn’t need to caveat every paragraph of every single post with “In my opinion, other opinions may vary, I believe that …”

Ageist - characterized by or showing prejudice or discrimination on the grounds of a person’s age.

They’re not discriminating against you just because they don’t cater to you. Not everything is for everyone.

Blizz just doing some self reflection, we’re all getting old. They’ve been around for more than three decades, with WoW itself hitting its 20th.

This is your opinon and its wrong. The reason wow started getting awful is because they wasted time making it for people like you. If you dont like it, quit.

I dont know how old the OP is, but as a 40 yr old guy myself, I find the races to be easy, expecially with this xpac.

Some people just dont have the motor skills to be able to do these and that should be fine. You have normal mode to carry you to the end. Just as i will never be a mythic raider i am ok with that.

It’s not.

But now’s an excellent time to train your reaction time and memory if you find this to be a problem

I hate to be that guy but I think we need to just suck it up.

I love tac shooters but my old man brain and eyes struggles to keep up with these fresh zoomer reaction times. Iv settled into gold/plat and I’m happy with that all things considered.

My days of top % of players is well and truly behind me, whether it’s CS, apex or WoW. I don’t want the game dumbed down just because I’m suffering through passage of time because that would affect the enjoyment of other players.

I’m all for accessibility but there’s a limit.

If you can’t keep up with WoW then it’s time to move on, or accept that you’re not cutting edge no more. That’s what iv done and I’m happy doing normals and a few heroic raids.

It is what it is. Age humbles us all

I’m bad so I’ll look for some ‘ism’ to blame.

And yes, I’m part of the much older wow population. Your excuse is an excuse that doesn’t befit your age bracket - shame on you.

Most of those abilities are handled by just walking backwards and using aoe stops (stuns, disorientates, kicks, silences)

You only see these because of addons. If you configure the addons the game is extremely accessible and calm. I usually play without addons the first 2-3 weeks of an expansion due to UI errors, and that pull in your screenshot is very calm besides the big blue arrows you should dodge, and the totems that you can kill if you feel like it (all it does is knock the group about, which doesn’t do much if you’re 3 melee and your healer has instants.)

You missed the point.
