How does anyone win in WoW? Because if its not Pay-to-win, then it should still have a counterpart that is “Free-to-win”.
Give me that counter part first

By having the best mog outfit ofcourse.
I mean they dont, I dont agree that its pay to win because the Win condition is so different for so many people.
No one wins wow… except for MistJo. We already established that they have won.
Which there are unique models only obtainable in the shop (of course also with gold), is it then sort of pay to win?
So there is a win condition, but the condition varies? Before you argued that there weren’t any win conditions at all?
This is where people seem to be stuck with this topic. People see “Win” and take the word as being “They win everything” Like someone winning a race… that there can only be 1 winner, and in 1 way… This then results in people doing the one thing that, in any proper discussion would be dismissed, they use their own anecdotal evidence to discredit a general tendency or go into an individual mindset.
This is not about “You”, “me” or “I”… This is about multiple people and a general tendency.
That’s like arguing against how bad smoking is by saying “All of my grandparents have smoked their entire lives, but they haven’t died of it… So smoking doesn’t kill”
Outliers can be found on both ends.
Now, the word “win”… In a game like WoW no one “wins” in the classical term, but people win on their own.
Like it was established before;
2 players both stuck at 1800 rating, one of them can’t get to 2.1k, the other one just buys a boost… Did the boosted guy “win the game” ? No… But he surely got something, that is now unobtainable that the other guy that didn’t pay didn’t get…
Some people pay their WoW sub through gold ONLY… Does this mean WoW is not a “Pay to play” game? No… Of course not…
But I would see it as a win myself that I can spend a fraction of my hourly salary to get gold, rather than spend multiple hours trying to farm it.
We need to stop talking in “I” and “me”… No one cares that you out dpsed a boosted guy… no one cares that you made 10 million gold in 1 week by just tapping space bar…
In a general term, some boosted people also out dps’ed non boosted people only because of gear difference… In general terms, some people have bought more gold than a lot of people have seen.
Can i though? Havent really looked into all thats required for that achievment but can all of it be done by just /follow someone else doing it? In that case i’ll throw in another example, completing all the mage towers for the book mount. You cant buy that for tokens in a legal way. You have to do it yourself if you dont want to break tos. So no, not every goal in wow can be bought with gold.
Yep, pretty much. I mean I personally could not fathom myself being boosted to that achievement/mount but I am sure that many people have paid their way to that mount.
And yes, the Mage Tower qualifies. It also scales down your gear to a certain level right. Strictly solo achievements like the MT or Proving Grounds: Endless are the only things that come to mind. But an exception proves the rule here.
We know that people are engaging in RMT to get stuff like that, but what matters here is that the game makes it impossible to achieve by just swiping your credit card in a legal way.
I am just not interested in giving more offtopic details about other games. They are for certain P2W. We are here talking about WoW. When people have their own definition of P2W for WoW, then the game can be P2W. By my definition it is not outside of maybe PvP because you play and win of other real people, but i do not PvP so i have no real oppinion about that.
The amount of work needed to get that mount , you could not go on follow or afk it. You need to place time and effort into it there is hundreds of things to do and it simply can not be boosted you are yet again being dishonest in your posting and trolling for no reason.
Explain how you could boost this please
New Dragonflight Expansion Meta Achievement - A World Awoken - Taivan Mount - Wowhead News
and read every detail before posting.
I checked all the achievements and yes, it can be bought with tokens.
I thought you ignored me yesterday? Or are you one of those who just says “reported and ignored” to incite a response?
Good because the two other games you mentioned had no unobtainable power, only a “fast advance” track as far as my research went and the examples you gave
You can call it whatever you want, but by your definition, calling them P2W would also classify WoW as P2W, and vica versa
Hard disagree. But you do you.
About Rise of kingdom there are tons of videos about tips with trying to survive the game without paying, and they all show it is not possible
Well, kind of easy to just say “Hard disagree” and leave a discussion xD Why enter the thread in the first place if you only care about your own perspective and won’t engage in discussions regarding the topic?
But you do you
I think i have a lot of argumentation in this topic already why i think wow is not p2w.
When you want to ignore that, indeed you do you.
Which I then highlighted didn’t add up. But you cared for only 1 of them, and left the rest
Like with a lot of things in life we should be using a Dial rahter than a Switch when talking about this. Like Capitalism vs Communism. You don’t want either extreme, you want to dial it into the right mix in the middle. Regulated Capitalism with enough social welfare for providing services.
P2W is a spectum. At one end the game is entirely free, no money involved whatsoever. At the other end you have to pay for absolutely everything.
So you need to dial the switch to where you think is the right mix. In this case on a scale of 1 to 10 WoW is maybe 3. You have to pay for a sub and the shop sells some cosmetics. There is no player poser in the shop and you can achieve absolutely everything in game in a reason time without spending a single penny other than sub.
Some people might think it’s at 4 or 5 (I would think them worng but they’re entitled to their opinion). Nobody can possibly argue it’s up there at 7 or 8 let alone 10.
Sure wow have some involvement of real money but at such a low level as to be completely ignorable.
You can join a community like Dungeon Dojo and achieve pretty much anything you want in game.
I have probably 100 posts in this topic
…yes?
I mean…we don’t allow shop outfits in our mog competitions, so can’t P2W in those
You have 59
Where can you see that?! I was searching
Edit; found it. i am a fool.
